You guys are all lovely. ISFJs are sadly under-represented as well as misrepresented in the type community. So it's great to have a panel that can do this type justice. I'm an ISTJ (another under-represented type), so I share dominant Si and I can relate quite a bit to what you all said. That rap at the end was alot of fun.

Si dominants are fantastic, wish there was more material of y'all in the type space. :) You help add to the ISTJ material out there so I'm grateful for you, Laura. ISTJs and ISFJs help us keep the sensory in order, and I thank you all indefinitely for that!!

In my humble opinion, ISFJs are the most selfless, loving, nurturing and caring people of all MBTI. They seem like as if they were born to become a parent one day, because they are just so patient, understanding and protective of their family. Some of the under-appreciated traits of an ISFJ are that they are incredibly hard working, they have excellent analytical skills, and they are humble, even if they are better than others. Ofcourse I am biased, because my mom is ISFJ and she is the coolest mom ever ❤

Oh YAY ISFJs! My moms type! We drive each other nuts in regards to time (I like live in another dimension when it comes to time and she’s always early for everything). I say she needs to chill and she gives me the same lecture about how time is money. She loves to clean and has a “system” to teach me but meh 😑 cleanliness is relative (but she’s prolly right tho). But we always connect via Ne jokes, like we joke every 5 minutes. I love that she makes me feel like I’m the funniest person around, and I feel that she’s the funniest person I’ve known 🤣, lol. But then we butt heads when I urge her to try new things, like leave her ridiculous job but she’s too scared of what ifs. She had so much potential if only she’d try something new to better her situation. She’s a green thumb too so when I almost kill my plants 🌱 I take them to her to be rescued. She also has great connection with all animals. Like in one year she adopted 3 possums, I end up telling her to please take it easy with adopting these woodland creatures. But anyway they are wonderful nurturers (like dude, they are a lot of ISFJ nurses 😂). And I am very honored to have an ISFJ mother and that I am the only fruit of her loins. Thanks for this video! Love the rap at the end! -INFP

My mother is an ISFJ and retired nurse. She is definitely aggressive when it came to her nurture. Even when I'm full, she'll still ask if I ate. When I cough, she'll immediately come with medicine and check if I'm sick. My Mom is definitely social, but she needs lots of time to recharge. She never wants to admit when she needs help or care. She always puts everyone first before herself. With her Si Dom, she definitely internalizes everything and becomes very cerebral when she is verbally upset or verbally attacks. ISFJ is a great balance of internally processing her feelings and externally nurturing her surroundings!

as an intp, experiencing Fe in the second slot in the ISFJ is most def very warming and less cringey than having Fe in the hero function. I think an ISFJ is the embodiment of the "anxious self" of an intp, since they share the same functions but in palindrome form.

As an intp, i actually do what you guys do, it's like i have to know the concept first, so i can be really slow thinker. It's just that intp think more towards finding the right order in order to enjoy in knowing what could be truth. Intp also kinda tune to Ne to, little bit of an intuition come off more in relax nuance, and Fe to be most awkward function. Omg, i think having vivid imagination is such a bliss🔥

I've become convinced that "intuition" is not the same as "intuitive." Any type can have intuition to varying degrees since it means being receptive to unconscious processes. Not the same a intuitive perception bias over sensing.
@dxfifa
@dxfifa 5 месяцев назад
Layman's "Intuition" = Introverted Sensing (Si or Ni) Jungian intuitive = creating new ideas/predicting how things will change based off not current observations, but past experiences (Ne via Si) or (Ni via Se). The confusion is that Ti or Fi triggers Ne to gather ideas and concepts into an unconscious Si database which Ti or Fi then sort into a system. On the other hand Ti or Fi triggers Se to gather data and that is run through an Ni think tank which Ti or Fi sort into a system. The higher up the sensing, the more unconscious the Ti/Fi trigger is, but that's the reason the sensing is going at that point, to get more data/ideas about their personal world judgement and perception. Also they become more focused on one part of the perceiving. For example we can use the Si/Fe/Ti/Ne family as this is an ISFJ video ISFJ have dominant introverted sensing and so are primarily interested in their own personal database and what it means for their relationships with others. They also try to make logical sense of how the world works in relation to what the database means for them and prefer not to be in the moment gathering new ideas as they feel more comfortable reinforcing their Si with Ti, rather than challenging it with Ne. Their Fe and Ti though do make them aware there are multiple logical ways to see the world and interpret things and so they know they will need to gather information at some point. ISFJ strongly prefer to pretend they're doing Ne by studying new things that highly overlap with things they already know, and when something new comes up, they often feel overwhelmed having to check if their Si makes Ti sense with the new information. So a little bit at a time, when they try something right on the edge of their comfort zone is generally when an ISFJ gathers new information. Or when someone Ne blasts them with information (but that can be challenging). A good way to be growing for an ISFJ is to combine multiple safe activities you know how to deal with and are happy doing into a novel one. For example, you may have gone on holiday to City X before with someone else, but gone to City Y for the day by yourself. You could then go to City X by yourself and do the same things you did in City X with the other person (you've already done these exact things and been to these places, but now are trying alone), or the same types of things you did in City Y by yourself (you feel comfortable doing these things alone), in city X.

@33 mins As an Fi user (xNFP), changing my mindset about myself does feel like you described for yourself. I'll be thinking of myself, but I think of myself differently from everyone else until I say, "what if you saw yourself like you see others?" And that's what enables me to have compassion for myself, since I know I would have it for someone else in my shoes.

Hey Joyce, could we ever get a panel focusing on Shadow / Mirror Types? Like INTJ / ENTP INFJ / ENFP ENFJ / INFP INTP / ENTJ ENTP / INTJ Etc. Etc. I think It’d be sooooo cool to see how types interact with their mirror given the high cognitive synchronicity of their function stacks respectively. Thanks for doing these!

I like to think of Ni vs Si as when you're going to some food store and the Ni-Se user for instance could know they liked a few of the food options before but they're not completely sure because they already forgot what they taste like so they get this urge to try out everything whereas the Si-Ne will be taking the same thing every time because they vividly remember how it tasted and how it made them feel.

Interesting! I'm an INFP and I always buy the same flavor of ice-cream at my favorite ice shop, I hear the same playlists of music for moths on repeat, always going out to the same restaurants, always buying the same perfume, but then sometimes get sick of it, I try something new till I find something I really like, then it becomes my new obsession. So your example of Si-Ne is spot on.

Jami is so good at applying her Ti in an objective and unbiased way. For instance, I loved the way she used Ti to describe Si categorically and concisely, and everyone on the panel came away understanding themselves a little better. Fluid use of Ti is a very unusual quality to see in ISFJs, and so refreshing! Wish I could tag her in this comment. 😄

14:40 People notice that other people have cut their hair? I don't even notice what car they drive. I used to be totally mystified when a girlfriend would look at me expectantly and ask what I thought. She'd changed her hairstyle, or was wearing new jewelry or makeup. I finally resorted to telling her about her halo. The halo is what she means to me and who she essentially is. I'm an INFJ

Joyce - Thank you for hosting this session. Thank you to everyone on the panel for sharing your experiences and perspective. As an INTJ with an ISFJ best friend, this was really fascinating and insightful. I can definitely see the interplay between Fe/Fi in our dynamic 1. My ISFJ friend will often need to talk things out in order to understand how she feels about something (Fe). On the other hand, I prefer to process my emotions internally and even when I share how I feel to her it’s more “set.” I’m not looking to understand how I feel - I already know them and am simply presenting it (Fi). 2. Looking for Ti validation to emotions. I have observed this as well. When my ISFJ friend comforts me she will often start by stating “I think it’s very normal that you feel this way, it’s ok to feel that reaction. I would feel that way too if X happened to me.” 3. Noticing the Si. This one was really spot on. I know for my friend, she’ll start conversations with “what did you do today?” Which (for the most part) I don’t really remember. I recall memories in generalities and even then feel somewhat removed from my own memories (i.e. I think I had oatmeal for breakfast, because that’s what I usually have... but I’m not sure). Some things I’ve learned from this video: A. Being more receptive/open or welcoming to my friend when she needs to talk out how she feels about something. I understand now that the phrase my friend uses -“I think it’s normal for you to feel that way about X” is a reflection of her perspective and perhaps how she too prefers to discuss how she feels. B. Being more open to discussing day to day details. As I understood from the panel (and Jami’s really great point on this) Si understands that objects carry information. I see now that when my friend asks “what did you do today?” that is how she perceives information. Paired with Fe, that Si-Fe becomes the language in which she demonstrates care. C. Listening attentively and not cutting her off in the middle of her statements.

16:45 OMG 😳 my ISFJ friend *constantly* asked about *so* many details about my day, it seems space invading, and too personal (nosey) to me (because again, being constant, and deeply detailed - even more than I, an ENFP, do to people), and if I refused to tell him, he got offended / couldn’t comprehend why not. ProTip: start discussing your day in detail first and then it’s not so awkward to ask the other person how their day was . It seemed he was being much too nosey, stalking-esk. I couldn’t figure out why someone would need so much information. We all need room to breath. Lol On another note, Interesting to me was how much I related to your discussing the topics of Se, Ti and Fe. I pull a lot of intuition from my physical environment / body language/ seeing patterns rather quickly. I write out or talk about my feelings to others to validate them because I logic or rational them out (due to many possibilities). Gaging Directions are more of a feel for me than a know, as an example: I remember because I’ve done it enough times. 1:15:00 and you’re can be overly loyal - not taking the time to tease out the interpersonal situation to tease who was right or wrong. You risk closing yourself and friends off to personal growth in this way. I’ve seen this more often than not. ISFJ somewhat fall into the comfortable rut because it’s easier than growing - and they almost freak out when confrontation of any kind happens that would allow people to resolve conflict and grow.
