Years ago I played regularly with a guy who was real good detecting other players tells, and he would never spill them. So I practiced doing everything the same way no matter if the hand was good, bad, or neutral. Set the cards the same every time. Looked the same places, checked the chips, etc. It took a lot of concentration to get it there, but I got the hang of it.

It's like basketball players, the best free throw shooters follow the exact same routine their entire career in a pre-shot ritual. Most people probably don't apply it to poker, but setting a routine should be habit, and could save tons of grief.

Decent content. Only problem can be that because most live players don't really understand the relative strength of hands, what they perceive as strong in certain spots might be weak and vice versa

100%. It was a long time ago, but had AJo close to the button. Raised and got two callers, one being in the big blind. Had a jack high flop and the BB went allin. Dude was shaking like a leaf while ready to flip over his cards. I ended up folding thinking it had to be a set or two pair atleast. Showed my hand and he flipped over the same hand and yelled "I knew I had the nuts". Way overvalued his hand, and a perfect example of live tells being hard to realize since some inexperienced players don't realize their hand strength.

I’ve noticed that if a guys hands start shaking, he has a very strong hand,he might even knock over his chips
@connman8d617
@connman8d617 4 года назад
This is actually a really strong tell because it's completely uncontrollable. It's called a release of tension and it's caused by the drastic shift in your body chemistry that comes from coming out of that moment of suspense where you were awaiting the outcome of the flop. If you see somebody shaking as they put money into the pot it's a tell-tale sign that they are SUPER strong. Just make sure you observe them in their normal state too. The last thing you want to do is put a lot of stock into this "tell" and then find out the guy has Parkinsons. If he normally doesn't shake but she's shaking now, you should know he's got the goods.

staring hard at the community cards i find is usually a sign of weakness... when you've hit your hand you already know you've hit it, the only thing they could be doing is trying to figure out what you have (which could be a slow play of course)... in my home game i often find that when someone stares hard at the community and then at your chips, theyre most often trying to figure out what they can pretend to have while thinking theyre making you think they know exactly whats going on

He instant called and I showed him the winning hand lol. He then says proudly "ILL ALWAYS CALL IF THEY SAY YES " - ( noted sir, noted ).

I agree with all of these. Of course you have to use past experiences and watch players carefully to know who is capable of reverse tells. I certainly have picked up on all of these through my playing days and will do some of these in reverse when need be. Just as important as it is to be aware of other player it is important to be aware of yourself too. Mix it up and they will never know what’s going on. Crush those home Games!

Tells are like encryption: it's not what you do, per se, but the patterns. For example, I do the exact OPPOSITE of your "simple" tell: I show my cards when asked if I have a strong hand and don't, otherwise. However, if I repeat this pattern, then voila - I'm toast. Encryption only works if you bury the patterns. The best encryption processes seek to use the exact same number of each character w/o any repeated patterns. Have fun trying to crack that.

these are very basic and good, thanks and im not complaining ;) but home games are usually messy and chatty and a lot of these tells get lost or missed because its not a "serious game" (my home game is a lot of money, but we arent taking it seriously if that makes sense) ... i think the best tells are about body language, for example i saw in a video that when people are nervous theyll often pull their feet under their chair, and when relaxed stretch out... next game i checked for this a few times (not easy to check this however from across the table) and it proved right... id love to see a more advanced 'tells' video even if its based on people you know, those tells are often more common than we realize

Folding AK if you don’t have chips to show. Isn’t a bad thing. You have to be more worried about your stack than the card on the table. Not going all in on AK is ok. Play your range but never over extend. Leave yourself an out trust yourself and make sure if somone is dog walking the table with raise trust you hand

I never answer any question from someone I’m in a big pot with. If they ask how many chips I have I may lift my arm out of the way so they can see but when someone asks questions like what do you want me to do or will you show me I never answer (unless it’s a small pot then I may for fun engage)

id say try and figure out your own tells, or at least how you act when youre weak and when youre strong, and look for that in other people... figuring out your own tells is hard cause you think youre trying to just be normal all the time but youre not... i will usually act distracted when im strong, start a conversation or even get up and get a beer etc... so when im bluffing ill do the same thing .... in one instance im trying to seem disinterested and in the other im trying to seem comfortable

There's a very simple obvious tell. Say a player does not watch the anyone at the table most of the time. Then once in a while during a hand, he suddenly starts watching you and others with interest. This most likely means that he has something and wants action, and likely he's not bluffing.

Ok the last one I do the opposite of what he said. the real value is in the voice. You need to be aware of how their voice changes when being honest and when lying. I only answer the question if I'm in a .25 .50 home game at a kitchen table. when the stakes are higher backroom or casino never answer that question stay in conceal mode. When you first start reading pick the weakest players to read just a few at a time and play gto agianst the rest. Drinking alcohol will loosen up an opponent and their face becomes naturally more honest and in non indian casinos the drinks are free and people can't help them selves. 1-2 in las Vegas Nevada is the easiest games in the nation because 1-2 player in a backroom from anywhere else in america won't go to Vegas to play 1-2 they'll play higher so if youre gonna take a shot take the shot in Vegas

The shoulders. Sitting up in ones chairs is sign of strength. But like you say, sample size it first. Look for patters. Mix and match as there are many micro facial expressions to confirm suspicions. Agree? And as a successful amateur of over ten years I can honestly say that nothing has made me more money than watching faces, postures as flop, turn and river come off. Cash money MFers! 💰💰
