6 Months With The Paulk Total Station! 7 Pros and 3 Cons! 

Hi, I'm about to build my own version of the smart bench. Just received the plans from Ron. Can I ask_ are the wings really necessary for the mitre saw? I understand the need for the table saw to be above the table as that's how it hooks onto the bench. I was planning on leaving the mitre saw flush with the bench top. Is that a mistake??

Wings are a must if you cut long material. Having the wings the length I do allow me to just set 8ft material on the station without having the material teeter off the end and I don’t have to use a. Hold down or build in a clamping system.

They are 48” each plus the miter base. Yes I included the stops as well.

I build mine and my whole tool trailer out of home depot and Lowes grade birch and oak plywood. I don't see a reason for higher quality really.

@@RenovationsandRepair HI Richard! Thanks for the review. Over the winter, I am planning my own compact bench and total station build with the carts and the hang/off accessories. QUESTION: Any idea what just your bench weighs before horses and cart and tools? I have a 3x7 compact bench (marine-varnished for exterior use) using Ron's version 2.0 plans and mine clocks in around 100lbs before horses and spreaders shelf. I used a 3/4" ply top and sides, 1/2" bottom and internal supports. I am hoping to find some 3/4" ply that weighs close to 50lbs for the winter builds. Normal 3/4" A/C ply, birch ply weighs around 67lbs or more per sheet. 1/2" weighs around 50lb (same quality).

I will weigh it once I'm done working with it in the next few days. I'm guessing around 85 pounds just for the 3x6 work top.

IMHO best 12" Miter Saw on the market. Corded or not.

I bought the 10" version, but I still haven't reached the maximum. Thanks for your opinion.

@@petrulostun737 note that he said the best 12. Because the best 10 is of course the kapex 120. And I'd agree that the Makita is probably the best 12.
