Hi friends and Happy Saturday! I hope your weekend if off to a great start! 😊 Please share with me some of your fashion tips. Let’s learn from each other😊 xoxo

I am french but sincerely, I will never understand what people like so much about parisian fashion. Everyone dress the same way: flared jeans, white T-shirt, striped sweater...). It's so boring! And we don't forget the obligatory Parisian touch of snobbery: we dress very simple (even ugly with clothes that are too big and unflattering). As long as you wear a Hermès, Dior or Chanel bag, then everything is fine, you are saved. This is the principle of Parisian chic. Such an hypocrisy! 😝 That said (I meant this in general for all videos about "how to dress in Paris"), I find your tips very helpful and down to earth. 👍

Good quality buttons can elevate any blazer, jacket, coat. Avoid synthetic materials. Think wool, cashmere, cotton, silk, linen, when possible. Check out vintage shops. Blazers/coats should have some lining. Sadly, tailors & shoe repair seem to be disappearing. (and I live in a large city). Keep clothing clean and mended No loose strings. Home steaming helps alleviate the wrinkles. Invest in at least one Hermes scarf. Costume jewelry - pas moyen ! Take good care of your hands and nails. You'll be offering your hand to the people you meet & and using them in everyday interactions with people. Respect yourself. Enjoy your Life. ☺️ 💖

Amazing tips! Thank you so much for taking the time to write it. It's really useful and I fully agree with everything you said. About tailors - yes, it's hard to find a good one. I'm lucky to have a friend who has been altering my clothing for years. She now works as a fashion designer but still does all my resizing. I would suggest checking out last year fashion students. They are usually happy to do the work. A lot of them are very talented. Plus, it's a way of supporting young creative people. But it does take time to find the right one. Hermes scarf is a fantastic investment! xoxo

I agree with everything you wrote. However, I would add that someone finds a good tailor. I see so many people wearing lined blazers/jackets with the sleeves rolled up because they are too long. IMO it’s a terrible look regardless of the price.
@AngelicaKB

Thank you, so spot on:) I would also add, how important is that the clothes is not wrinkled - it needs to be ironed or steamed, and ofcourse, clean. Sometimes I see someone in a nice brand/clothes, but it hasn’t been steamed, and it’s so much worse than just a clean, simple but ironed t-shirt and jeans

Because I am very petite - everything I purchase for my wardrobe is tailored. Having a great tailor is the key to looking classy in my humble opinion - I focus on fabric and fit. And you’re right, my tailor has nixed some of my choices because they weren’t suited to my frame.

Hi Angela! I really enjoyed this informative video. You are the most elegant and polite lady on youtube. I love your voice, the way you talk and the way you dress. ❤Your manners and style remind me of my dear grandmother. She was an architect and grew up in Germany. I loved to spend holidays with her. Such sweet memories. Thank you for all the work that you put in your videos. Your videos are always informative, friendly and calming. I especially love your French for a day series.

Karen Miller uses only polyester in the majority of its items, which I why I don’t shop there. I don’t consider any garment high-quality if it’s made of those plastic fiber fabrics. I will gladly try the other brands you mention, thank you,

It's true! That's one of her downsides... I mostly buy dresses from her because they have beautiful cut but I agree. She cuts corners with the quality of the materials. I failed to mention a brand that I love - J. Crew. Maybe you know it. They are very easy to get in the US and they ship internationally too. Le me know if you've used them. I shop from them but rarely because when the package comes from the US I pay additional taxes and deal with customs. I would love to hear feedback if you are using them. I so agree about tailoring. I even have simple tees tailored. It is rare to find clothes that fit my curvy petite apple shape well. It makes such a difference to have a proper fit. I'm also elevating my footwear this year. I purchased 3 pair of loafers. Not the chunky ones but more the Princess Diana vibe. Rockport and Franco Sarto. My handbags are medium size with top handles. Also bought my first ever white button down cotton blouse. Looks so casual smart over most all my pants. Tres Chic!

Yes, all so very true. The world forever wonders about that 'je ne sais quoi', the effortless look etc. that French women possess. And little do they know that it's due to the basics: common sense, self-knowledge, self-acceptance and discipline. Scrupulous grooming, knowing your figure and colours, quality over quantity, keeping it simple (as in decluttered wardrobe), attention paid to detail - all of this is at the base of their famous allure. I find it inspiring and constantly refer to these values.

Thank you Angela, you are not only beautiful but so gentle, it is always a delight to listen to your kind advice. Here in Australia, there are plenty of quick “alterations” places but they won’t touch anything other than hems. Finding someone who will help is quite a task, but perhaps as you say it is worth it.

This is such an amazing video describing some really beautiful fashion ideas. I've always really loved the aesthetics of European women (especially in France, Italy, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Scandinavia). You have such a gorgeous sense of style yourself! On a side note, I think it's really awesome that you still reply to and heart a majority of your comments despite having 40K subscribers. I see so many people who once they get in the 1K to 5K subscribers range, suddenly stop interacting with viewers (as in not even hearting comments anymore).

Hi lovely and thank you so much for the kindest words! ❤ Replying to comments and interacting with all of you is one of the best things when having a RU-vid channel. I usually get to know a lot of the people who comment more often: I get to know their skin type, makeup preferences, etc. I normally reply to everyone but I need to catch up lately because of my recent travels and some back pain issues that I had ... life is unexpected sometimes. Thank you for watching my videos and have a wonderful day! xoxo

Thank you, Angela for this video! I really needed to hear this information. I’ve gotten into this “mom look” style that I’ve been trying to work my way out of. I’ve been watching your videos since the beginning of this year and I started wearing makeup again😁. I actually feel so much better when I have my Chanel makeup on; now I need to start wearing nicer clothing instead of my active wear and sneakers everyday. I’m going to try painting my nails a nude color as well. I don’t have time to go to a nail salon right now (maybe someday 😌), but I know I will feel more put together with these tips! Thanks for including a list of where I can start looking to shop for prettier clothes! 💜💜💜

I guess it has been a while since the loose fit has been a trend for some time in many places around the world, including here is Seoul. As you have mentioned on this video, Angela, it is about the balance. For example, a loose top and regular fit pants would look nicer than an all over loose outfit. @Frenchforaday Год назад
Hi Marcia! Welcome to my channel and thank you so much for watching my video! :) The top was designed by me and made by a tailor. It was inspired by a Dolce & Gabbana dress from a few years back. I liked some elements of the dress but not all of it and wanted to have a blouse in a similar style so I created a design for myself. I've been doing that since my early 20s. Sometimes I enjoy to draw my own clothes and then use a tailor to make them. :) Thank you so much! Have a wonderful day! xoxo

You have the most beautiful coloring ever, if I could choose mine, it would be just like yours. Mine is muted, sort of beigey all over, I love the striking contrast in yours, and black looks great on you (awful on me). Please never bleach your beautiful hair! Nature knows best when it comes to what looks good. That’s one thing I love about French ladies’s style, they enhance their natural beauty, not fight it.

Hi Dottie :) This is my design made by a tailor. I have a friend that resizes my clothes and also makes clothes for me by designs that I draw. This one in particular was inspired by a Dolce & Gabbana dress that I saw but I didn't like entirely the design of the dress so I drew a blouse for myself. I showed one top with a similar style in my What to wear in Paris video but I see it's sold out now. I promise to have a look at retailers and if I see similar tops I will make a list. xoxo

@Frenchforaday Год назад
Hi Valentina, It's a friend of mine who does my clothes. I met her nearly 10 years ago through my local ferramenta. if you are from Italy, you must have a ferramenta near you. They usually know everyone and everything in the neighborhood. Back then the girl that I am using was still a university student and was doing clothes repair on the side as a part time job. Now she works at one of the fashion houses. Another option: you can try going to one of the fashion schools and leave a note there. Most schools usually have a board where you can leave a note. Once I needed urgently a repair and my friend was abroad so I left a note at Università Cattolica (not a fashion school but I know very well the university so I decided to give a try). I got a call a week later from a very cute girl who studied at la Scuola di alta sartoria. She did a fantastic job for me. I was trying to find her contacts but it looks like I lost them. That's why I'm replying so late. So try that and see what happens. Students usually know each other and they spread information quickly.

@Frenchforaday
@Frenchforaday Год назад
Hi Maureen! I am so excited for you! You will have the best time in Paris. For sneakers, it depends whether you wear sneakers a lot in your daily life or you just want them for Paris. In Europe we have Geox. Do you know this brand? These are breathable super comfortable sneakers/ and comfortable shoes that I love for summer. They are also very affordable and durable (cost between 100 - 150 euro/ It's a about the same in USD). Another option will be Nike. I am very faithful Nike fan because of the price, durability and comfort. Adidas have great options too. Again super comfortable, clean designs that you can wear with anything and they last very well. They seem to be very trendy in Europe in the past years (especially the Adidas superstar series). xoxo

I'm in my 50s and I love Karen Millen, but unfortunately I don't think she offers plus size clothing. I've been trying to lose weight, but I know I have to dress for the body I have while working on getting the one I want.
@kimberlyperrotis8962
@kimberlyperrotis8962 Год назад
I have many pieces that need tailoring, I have been losing weight for years now, and bought them too big to begin with. (I tended to size up a size when ordering online, especially during the pandemic, because of the difficulty in doing returns. I was house-bound for over two years). Also, sizes sold here in the US have been changing rapidly as most brands switch to vanity sizing to make our very fat population feel better about buying clothes. Or, they don’t mention when an item is oversized, or the the model wearing it it over 6 feet tall! Then, there are the Asian brands, which are unrealistic for our largely European and/or African heritage population. I bought a skirt from Amazon recently in the largest possible size, but it would only fit a pre-teen girl here (it did say women’s). I’m a US 10, or about a M/L, and I did use the manufacturer’s size chart, but it just wasn’t accurate at all. I do most of my own alterations, but am no expert, so for more complicated ones, I send them to a professional.
@Frenchforaday
@Frenchforaday Год назад
Hi Kimberly, That's so true! I think in Europe we are not used to buying clothes online as much as Americans do mostly because of the inexistent or very strict and complicated return policy. But I have noticed lately with some brands that they started to use Asian sizes and they just don't fit well to European built population. We are much bigger in structure and this creates problems with clothes. It's great to be able to alter your clothes. My mom was great at doing that. She was self thought and used to do most of my clothes in the past. I wish I had learned to do that too. xoxo

There are many beautiful ways to cover belly such as midi or long flowy dresses with a romantic/ bohemian twist; V neck top creates beautiful silhouette too; A line shaped dresses that show a little bit of the legs; lace on the upper part of the dress etc. I am working on a video about different body shapes and how dress depending on body shape.
