Watching your videos is bad because I literally want to buy everything I watch you install. Keep up the good work.

glad you enjoyed it. just don't DO everything i swap since some stuff is pretty much only for autocross

You needed to show how you cut the spindles to fit the brackets.... literally the most important part people might get wrong

the kit is pre-modified by BBU, the guy who sells brake kits

Very nice upgrade. I went with the LS option on mine because........ i'm cheap.

the ls1 brakes will work just fine. more than enough to overwhelm most tires. not to mention Pads are off the shelf.

Very nice job! I wish regulations weren't as restrictive in my country to do these kinds of modifications..

swap in the LS1 brakes then. NO inspection guy will ever notice that. or swap in the 1LE brakes, that's a factory option, they can't say Sh** about that.

Excellent! Great presentation. Question, I see you received new aluminum hubs, can you purchase different "depths" to allow for greater tire width, eliminating spacers? Thanks
@3rdGenGuy
@3rdGenGuy 4 года назад
the hubs push out the front track 1/4in on either side. (1/2in total)there's no adjustable options. However, getting the extended ARPs like i did allows you to use a spacer without worrying about snapping off studs. but really a 1in spacer would be the max you could run.

@@3rdGenGuy Yes, they would help when I move to the 88 17" corvette wheels / tires I will be using. Thanks again.

A good brake upgrade for the 3rd generation is still the "Ls1 Brakes" . Have a factory 3rd gen rotor machined down to the spindle, install longer studs with 1/2x20 threads, make a new bracket or buy one, install 4th gen rotors and calipers and boom you can actually stop. Ypu go from 10 on disc's to 12 and 1 to 2 piston calipers and other than the bracket there's no other modifications required. And if you're smart aka stingy you can get this done under $300, if you're road racing your car then sure a $1300 6 piston fixed caliper setup is worth it, if your just driving the fucker In Traffic then the 98-02 brakes are fine for cars with around 400hp and the occasional haul down from prison sentence speeds
@3rdGenGuy
@3rdGenGuy 7 месяцев назад
the 92-02 f-body brakes are pretty good for street cars. with the right pads, you could stop a 1,000hp build. (DCT70s or ST45s exe)

@@3rdGenGuy I've never and should never be allowed to drive anything with 1000 hp. It'd be like giving a monkey a machine gun
@3rdGenGuy

the pad choice is more important than the caliper. I know guys running 8hr endurance races with OEM 4th gen brakes.
@limabravo6065
@limabravo6065 7 месяцев назад
@@3rdGenGuy yup, these massive brake kits like those from wilwood that cost a fortune and whose replacement parts like pads can only be had through them make no sense. Unless you're professionally racing the car, the OEM stuff is more than capable. And if you.have to have more than 2 pistons, the 5th gen camaro came with brembo units. You can get rebuilds and pads at your local parts stores with oem units that have untold mountains of research and development money behind them
@3rdGenGuy
@3rdGenGuy 7 месяцев назад
well, the wilwood's use common pad sizes. local race shops carry the pad types. wilwood makes their own pads, but there's a 100 other pads to choose from.

Is there a reason you went slotted, instead of slotted and drilled? Other than the drilled rotors being $150 more..
@3rdGenGuy
@3rdGenGuy 2 года назад
Drilled rotors do nothing. they cost more, have worse braking performance and tend to crack more often. slots are beneficial, holes not so much

Will these fit under a stock 89 IROC 16 in rim? Those are 90-92 and not sure of the difference, if any.
@3rdGenGuy
@3rdGenGuy 4 года назад
the 13in wilwood will fit under the 16in IROC wheel, but the clearance is WAY smaller than the 92-92 16s. but will fit

Ya ha ha try $2,400 lol. pricey buy worth it. you can convert to LS1 98-02 brakes for under $600 and those are good brakes hat fit under 16s

I’m late to the party here but I’m doing this upgrade right now, and was wondering after you did all this and upgraded the rear brakes as well, how did the 4th gen master cylinder do with this setup being a 1” bore?
@Wilson_Racing
@Wilson_Racing Год назад
Where did you get the bump steer kit and why do 3rd gens need it? Just curious
@3rdGenGuy
@3rdGenGuy Год назад
the kit was a UMI setup. the rod ends wern;t very good, but the rest didn't break. bump steer kits are needed if your car is heavily lowered (3in or more) or in my case because I have extended ball joints.

Will these fit behind a set of 15in wheels with a lot of negative offset?
@3rdGenGuy
@3rdGenGuy 3 года назад
They don't fit under 15s. unfortunately 15s really limit brake sizes. Wilwood and BEAR have smaller brake kits that will fit under 15s though

How do you like the brakes ? Did you notice a big improvement? Cheers
@3rdGenGuy
@3rdGenGuy 4 года назад
stopping power is leaps and bounds better than stock. i can confidently stop from 90Mph without a hitch. i don't like how this kit doesn't touch 100% of the rotor though, the inner 1/2 of the disk isn't hit by the brake pads. the caliper is meant for other newer cars that have rotors that have less area. but a problem, more like a nit pick

@pro-touringf-body5179

you should use the SL 4 calipers they are rated for track use and have more clamping force than the 6 piston and cost $100 ea. less
@3rdGenGuy
@3rdGenGuy 2 года назад
Nah i'm good, those 6 pistons stop crazy hard.(1.1Gs+) 100+Mph stops at the race track with a heavy 3rd gen are no issue. that and the 4 pot SL-4 are about the same price anyways
