I am absolutely loving your videos! I just stumbled upon your channel from your accusump video. You provide some excellent high level information on getting the most out of our track cars. I’m really looking forward to your M3 abs upgrade as this is something I’ve been wanting to do on my 05 G35. It has Abs, but it’s not designed with Motorsports in mind like the m3 system is. I prefer driving with abs, so upgrading the system would be great. Keep up the great work with these videos, I’m looking forward to more!
I was thinking 4th gen axles the whole time. I just swapped in the whole rear axle assembly with no need for spacers. The m3 abs looks amazing. Really gonna look into that. Single wheel lock up is fun. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year you filthy animal.
I feel your pain. My Wilwoods' resulted in a low and inconsistent pedal height. Now after installing a Dana 44 axle, my rear calipers won't center to the rotors and I have to pull the axles to make sure the previous owner pressed the bearings all the way onto the axles. Couple that with a T56 that is popping out of gear, and I've got quite a bit of ironing out to do before I can track it.
most calipers will need to be shimmed to fit right. Wilwood sells thin shims for that. for example my rear brakes have shims to get the caliper centered.
to be honest I've never heard anyone outside of drifting have really positive things to say about willwood. even drag racing has gone away from them. you might end up finding a different brand just works better.
If you don't mind me asking, why not use the stock 98-02 abs rings for the rear? From what I've found they're only 1 tooth off from the original e46 M3 rings which are 48 tooth? The f body ones "at least on my 4 channel rear end" are 47 tooth
I am using new 4th gen axles I had Moser cut to a 3rd gen length. I'm using Mustang ABS rings because a LOT of aftermarket floater/cambered axles exe. all use that 50 tooth 2014 Mustang ABS ring. with ABS units, the ring diameters and teeth counts are not that important. the unit doesn't know the difference between say a 47 tooth or a 55 tooth ring. just all 4 rings need to be the same.
@@3rdGenGuy ahhhhh, I've never messed with abs so all this is new to me. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing how you machine the hubs to accept a tone ring. My billet hubs and bearing spacers just came in a little while ago so if I want to add abs, I might as well have the work done before installing them on the car
it's not a cheap mod, I'll probably be $3,000 deep by the time I'm done. but my tires are $2500 a set and easily flat spotted., so I guess it all evens out.
@@3rdGenGuy I'm curious though, do you plan to buy a pre made harness? Because I can't figure how you'd spend 3k on this new setup. I'm genuinely interested in seeing this project continue. I'm looking into it myself now
I tend to buy top of the line parts. Custom PTFE stainless crimped brake lines alone are gonna be $600+ all the machine work new custom axles shafts $400 in speed sensors $700 ABS unit (now they are ($1,000+) $100 for pressure sensors another $150 for brake fittings from Europe another $200 in normal brake fittings & not sure what my custom wiring is gonna run me,
