A few notes:
My goal was not to collect every moment in every same sex relationship or every queer interaction on the show.
My goal was more to highlight 3 things:
1. Iconic big capital Q queer moments that stand out like beacons and make Critical Role feel like home.
2. Quieter more easily missed Queer culture moments. Thinks newer Critters may not have heard before. Small things that make Queer people feel seen while watching the show.
3. EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT JENNY NEWMAN! SHE KEEPS US FED!
I think i will keep adding to this and Taryon will be here soon.

the side by side made me notice how little they stray from each other’s eyes. These scenes were a lot more charged and intimate and inspecting that I had initially realized.

The rational part of my brain knows that Caleb's success to convince Essek, even with a low persuasion roll, was most likely because Essek was going to exploit the nein for his own gain, and that he was absolutely intending to redeem the favors he was owed due to the ones he gave them. But my dumb lil gay brain prefers to believe a hot wizard in a leather harness stormed into the Bright Queen's throne room with their long lost relic and he went "Oh" and immediately abandoned his duties as Shadowhand to become a full time simp.

I'm not exaggerating when I say that Caleb and Essek is my favorite fictional couple, and I'm an aro/ace who RARELY gets excited over non-platonic relationships. But these two wizards just do something to me... They have SO much in common while at the same time being each other's opposites, I don't know how they pulled that off. It's complicated. It's empathetic. And the build up is mind-boggling good. I'm genuinly hoping that we'll get a novel with them both exploring Aeor together, because gods know we need it. 🧡💜

I love that these two are comfortable enough exploring their characters like this for everyone to enjoy. The chemistry is very palpable, Liam is such an expressive role player that you just FEEL what he is expressing and Matt works so well with it in kind. Exploring a romance in dnd can be quite rewarding with some amazing RP! Just trust the person first, lol.

Man I forgot with all that happened in this series the reason why essek and Caleb were shipped in the first place but manning, the look liam gave matt when essek was talking about spells with Caleb really drives that point home

@@FreshSqueezedSlugs I'm glad the CR cast believes so strongly in the death of the authour by leaving things up to fan interpretation. I really like the idea of Essek and Caleb just messing around with magic in a tower, reincarnating, exploring Aeor, etc. I personally think the narcissism of wizards would probably mean Caleb would eventually spring for the whole reincarnation thing, but any interpretation is valid!

Matt and Liam's chemistry is like nothing else, (no I'm not shipping real people lol) But damn, They can set sparks just by looking at each other. I can't wait to meet the next character Matt makes to seduce and eye fuck Liam's character in C3! I wonder if he'll break the trend of Purple Magic Men?

Up until ep. 97 I couldn't see what everyone was so excited about with this ship. But then something clicked for me and now it's my favorite. Looking at these older scenes through shipper's eyes sure feels different.

I love how dedicated these two are to their characters. When interacting with each other, the other person doesn't just "turn off" when they are not speaking. They stay in the moment, which I think helps lend to the experience for not only the audience, but for each other. Liam's facial expressions when Essek was talking about teaching him dunamancy was great. If I needed an example of "Horny for magic" that would have been it, haha. I think this was when I started to have more of an interest in Essek as an actual character, and hoped that he would be playing a bigger role in the story.

this is making me insane rn. everything is perfectly subtle but has such weight and unspoken magnetism between them. there's so much but so little!!! i fully understand that it wasnt at the top of their characters' minds to fully flesh out/pursue this connection (in the timeline of the campaign) but i also realllyyy get why theres so much fiction written about them.
