There are 6 predictable stages in a relationship: Euphoria, The Wake Up Call, The Big Test, Stability, Commitment and Deep Attachment. These love stage do not have to be in order. Some stages of relationships take longer than others. If you're wondering which stages of a relationship you're in, then this video might just be for you!

Me and my bf are definitely in the wake up call phase. It feels almost like a bubble burst. We have small little disagreements/arguments every week but we usually sort it out with communication and by accepting where we might have been wrong.

I'd say stage 5. I used to run from love and fear it. I'm very introverted and dislike most people due to bad past experiences, but then I met the most amazing human being of my life who was patient and kind and empathetic. We went through some deeply hard times and made it out the other side with time and understanding and communication. We still have some hard times, but there's nothing I am more grateful for than our strong bond and commitment. It changed my life. I wish that for everyone.

@@Psych2go i have been abused for the majority of my life and we both have mental health diagnoses so it was all about understanding each other and trying to see where the other person is coming from. I try to motivate him to do something with his day and he gives me the kindness and respect i had always had to fight for before. The reason it works is mostly because we love and respect each other to know that no fight is worth ruining a healthy great relationship and once you realise that the silly petty arguments about who washed up last fade away. We are a team and we support each other like one. Thank you for replying i love this channel and it has helped both myself and my boyfriend understand ourselves you do great work!!

Together 12 years. We are at the stability stage. You cannot change someone else. You love them for who they are (and respect their boundaries) or you walk. You’re not going to get everything you want in a relationship. In a healthy relationship you will get what you NEED emotionally and physically but it won’t always be all that exciting. You have to learn to appreciate the little things and the little moments. We have a beautiful family life. But it doesn’t look how I imagined it. I hate how much time I wasted trying to change her. She never did change and never will. In the end I feel that I had to be the one to change but again you can’t keep score. I may have had to change more in certain respects but maybe she works harder in other areas. At this point I just appreciate our beautiful family. I recognize I choose to be with her and love her despite what I see as her “flaws”. (Whether something is a flaw or an attribute is entirely a matter of perspective anyway. Some things that are flaws in certain instances are positive attributes at other times.)

I think it's important to mention that euphoria and commitment are often confused since what seems like choosing to be with someone whilst acknowledging and accepting their flaws is more often than not ignoring someone's flaws or dismissing them as insignificant or tolerable.

I think me and my partner are somewhere between the third and fourth stage. We are still figuring us out, but it's getting a whole lot better. We're starting to fully respect eachothers "flaws" (I don't really think they're flaws, it's what makes us human) and I can be alone without wanting to be with my partner all the time (I was really attached to him) so that's why I say somewhere between 3 and 4 :)

In an LDR and while we have awhile left ( hopefully at the halfway mark now 5 years) we are at stage 5. I miss chatting frequently, but we have worked out that we need our own things and that it’s going to be tough ( FYI VERY TOUGH) but the security is there and after 5 years there’s no way in you know i would dream of giving this up.... learning and growing!❤️💪

I’m currently in stage 2. My partner has been adjusting to her medication, her masters program, and her full time job. Currently, I’m away for school and our communication has become comparatively weak. I’ve brought it up a few times but it seems that as long as I’m away, we can’t really make meaningful adjustments. I think we're either somewhere in stage 1 or stage 2. we've been together for over 2 months and there are times where I think he's absolutely perfect, but I understand he has flaws and I acknowledge and accept them. in the second stage, it seems as if I need something big, like a problem to tell if I'd stay with him or not, through it. well, so far, we haven't had any problems or arguments, however we are honest enough to tell each other our worries and concerns and seek companionship and comfort through them. uwu

Honestly if you are truly in love with someone their flaws should not matter one bit. My boyfriend and I are past all these stages but like you said in the last bit we do go back and do alot of these stages again. I have never experienced true happiness until I found him. He always tells me the same thing. It's fantastic.

It's been 9 months and I'm currently in the wake up call part of the relationship. I don't feel that me and my partner are compatible anymore but he's very certain that we are. I'm giving him some time to get therapy and time for me to get the space I need. Let's see if we make it through!

I think the third stage we've been friends for years and have always liked each other. about 6 months ago we got into a relationship at first it was really intense I did forget some of the traits that aren't the best and just expected him to change which was dumb like the first stage😅 then was the second stage when i was getting clingy and i thought he didn't like me anymore but he is also really bad at expressing his feelings and that's when we got to the third stage I've learned not to be insecure or possessive because both of need our space and we're both really busy with our work and school he's learned to be more considerate of taking time to be with me. So we're learning to compromise. I think that both of us really want our relationship to work hopefully we can get to the other stages Especially the sixth stage I think we would work great together❤️

me and my boyfriend are in the second stage. he is realizing that i have trust issues and he has anger issues. he want me to help him but doesn't want to help me. it helps when we have time apart. he is an extrovert and i am an introvert. it is an opposites attract kind of relationship and we have more deeper things in common then people would think at first glance

I feel like me and my boyfriend are at stage 4. We're planning on getting engaged once I turn 18, but the two of us are currently going through a lot. He's got a lot of college work and big family issues, I'm overcoming issues surrounding my mental and physical health. It's a lot of pressure, and it makes things difficult at times. Some days we rarely talk, many days we don't talk much, but the time we do spend together is close and intimate and is a reminder as to why I need and want him. You don't find true love, you make it. We establish clear communication (which is helpful for my autism) and we tell each other when we've irritated one another, ask for space when needed, etc. I think we've got a good system going and I know we've got a good future ahead of us.

It seemed we went almost straight to stage 2 with a lot of fights. We broke up and are back together now for the big test. For now everything is better than ever before, having worked out most issues. Now we can work on stability and revisit stage 1 that we seemed to have skipped.

Studying psychology I loved how scientist (usually theorist, of course) loved putting things into stages: X stages of grief, X stages of childhood, X stages of love… and somewhere at the end of the course they tell you that it all depends and really a huge number of patients will not go through these stages. It was still nice to listen, though!

Once, I was in a relationship with a guy that I liked for three years! He was absolutely perfect, to me he could do no wrong. Once we started dating, I saw every fault he had and I even tried to ignore them or tried dealing with them by telling him about them. They were very toxic faults, so I had to let him go because he denied everything and said that I was just stressed out by school work. Yeah, we're still friends, but as partners we just weren't going to work.

You know my girlfriend also liked me throughout middle school she would stare at me from afar and we talked once on the bus but I got confused and mistook the honeymoon phase for losing feelings breaking things off was one of my worst mistakes I hope she comes back but I enjoyed your story.

Me and my lover are in stage 5. I know him since 3 years and he loved me ever since. After few months its gonna be 4 years. Years of waiting and i finally said yes. He never forced me, he patiently waited for me and supported me through thick and thin. We've been together for few months now and he brings me so much pleasure and joy❤

Ive never got past the uforia phase and borderlined the second stage, but no relation ever went past that, hence Im single and never had a long or serious relationship :(

A lot of relationships end right as the second stage begins because reality does hit. I found this true when I was younger. People crave to constantly feel the euphoria...sometimes when the first stage ends, it feels as if the partner has fallen out of love with ya. Most of the time, one of the partners has moved onto the next stage, while the other still lags behind. This will cause a lot of conflict and misunderstanding that leads up to a break up. I'm not sure if this helps at all... But I wish you the best. You can do it. Remember communication is key. ❤

Same here. For some reason I very rarely got the honeymoon butterflies but used to see relationships as work from the word go - but in a good way; opportunities to become more self-aware and support my partner in his work to do the same. For me, my primary issue was unaddressed childhood conditioning of thinking it was somehow my job to carry the greater load in relationships that had me settling for unsuitable partners who weren't pulling their weight. Now that I've seen through it, know who I am, what I deserve and the kind of man I look forward to sharing myself with, I'm really looking forward (and hella nervous) to step into a whoooole new way of being in relationships. About bloody time really. 😂😉

Lol, I think me and my partner are creeping out of uforia and into the Wakeup Call. But we haven't hade a huge fight yet and im really thankful for that. We are working through our little quirks we both share, Like for example: my Girlfriend finds it really weird that I like Peanut butter and Chocolate sandwiches.(cant blame her tho lol) but we had a conversation about it and she revealed that she likes Pb&J sandwiches, well. I personally hate those. And then we laughed way too hard over it and ate our sandwiches. Coming to a silent agreement that we like different things

I experience things a little differently since I'm asexual and value companionship over anything else, but I can still see how a lot of these have applied to my romantic dating. Just like in life as a whole, there are patterns of challenges, and overcoming, and it's in those challenges that you learn a lot about someone.

We're at stage five. We cannot really get our relationship to reach 6 just yet, as we are focused on more important things: my partner is on sick leave from work because of burnout, and I'm sending applications left and right to find a job that's not temporary.

I'd have to say I'm in the wake up call, or barley starting it at least. It's been a few months of me and my partner dating and even longer ever since we started liking eachother in general. I don't want to say it's difficult, but I am weary that I might be the person to chase more than my significant other which could sometimes be nerve wracking. Though, going through reassurance that it's okay to be that way sometimes is refreshing. I know when and when not to take it too far of course. But at the start of "The Wake Up Call," right now I can say you do start seeing changes and it'll either be minor or major. No in between. For my partner it's mild, or minor and not too much as of now but seeing my partner for who they are is and can be amazing in the long run. I have a good feeling about him and I think it'll be worth while regardless of what happens later on... and it's my first try too! 😂

@@Psych2go We just told each other how we felt and talked about how we'd improve things. Like I'd say, "I don't like it when you do this" and he would say, "okay, what can I do to make things better." You just have to be open minded sometimes and communicate. Now, we are doing really good with each other and are very happy!

I think we're between stages 3 and 4. Things can be a little rocky, and he makes me angrier than anyone else. But he also makes me happier than anyone else, loves me like no other, and makes my world a better place to live in. He makes me mad, boy does he ever, but I love him. A lot.
