My MIL gave me her 2007 STS, which is a v6 base. I've had it 2 years and they bought it brand new. We are just now having to do something beyond "regular maintenance" even though I think it still kind of is? The motor mounts are wearing out. We are replacing them next week. Which is how I found myself here. I was scared about this car's issues. Good to know for the future but this baby is still running brand new, especially after we fixthese motor mounts.
Had a 2008, it rarely broke down, but it had the Heater Core, Water Pump, Steering Wheel, Timing Chains all replaced under Warranty. I had to buy a new shifter, 2 ignition Coils and a Evap Purge Valve. Harshest Riding Car I ever drove, my Kidneys are still bruised from driving it. Getting rid of the V Rated Tires and putting on Michellin's Fuel Savers allowed to get between 36 and 40 mpg on the Highway, doing about 120km/hr. Fun Little Car to drive, if your Kidneys can handle the Harsh Ride
Fantastic job you just helped me tremendously with my 05 std with the differential bushing and the wheel bearing thank you keep up the good work you wouldn’t happen to know anything about the front drivers door buttons that work everything not working and not being able to open my front doors from the outside would ya
It is most likely the actual door handle because there is a switch in it for keyless entry or and probably is the actual locking mechanism as this also has 2 switch's. All three need to work in order for the keyless entry to work. You could also not fix it and just use the key manually I hope this helps.
Replaced my u-joint, motor mounts, water pump and starter. My timing system is good. I check oil everytime I gas up and look for leaks. She runs amazing! Quite as a hybrid. I want an STSV but I cant find any that havent been beaten to hell.
I have the V-6 STS 07 and after doing the timing chain and basic maint, its been fairly reliable for the most part. I do baby the car and don't abuse it, but its a Caddy so its a cruiser to me.
Appreciate the info but I have a 2008 Cadillac STS in the Cadillac converter is making that bad rattle sound is saying low efficiency bank 2 so listening to you that means I need to replace it
08 cadi sts. I had that shift to park alarm, I disconnected the battery to stop the alarm noise...it's a temporary bandaid til you change out shifter assembly. Lol & I had the thud in rear... mechanic said it's more of nuisance noise so not urgent to replace.
You have to take off the inner door panel to get to it, its somewhere in there, ive never had to replace it so im not sure exactly where it is. There are videos on RU-vid showing how to replace it, search it
@@kauratool this is the second video I made about things that could fail in these cars, the failure of the door microswitches was in my first video. Its in the description
@@Dan300 i didnt remember that, cant remember one year old things :) sorry for that. Keep doing these videos! I like to watch your videos and that caddy!
Do you know about not having heat in the car cause its blowing cold? And its a cts 05 170k-180k what maintenance do i do?? I want to give it the dealeship but its not gon b worth shi 😩 and then also i keep hearing a thump sound everytime i switch from park to drive.. its making the sound in the trunk area
As far as the heat issue most likely it's a blend door actuator problem, im not sure where that's located in the cts as I own a sts which is different, now the thump you hear in the rear is the rear differential, the bushing is gone, this is a very common issue in this cars, I actually have the same issue im my sts right now, it's a pain in the ass to fix so I haven't done it yet.
It's probably one of you well hubs that's bad. There's a speed sensor in the hub that when it goes bad or if it's failing will activate the traction control when it's not supposed to
The only issues with ignoring cat codes is when they break apart and start blocking airflow, creating excess heat, could start a fire if it gets red hot, but you'll notice a dramatic loss in power when they start blocking air flow. I'm guess your last car the honey comb broke loose but hadn't broken apart yet. Once it starts breaking apart, it will either, break small enough to shoot out your straight pipe exhaust or big enough to restrict exhaust flow causing excess heat and back pressure, to which could cause a larger host of issues including but not limited to head gasket failure. Its kind of a ticking time you know what. Cat codes are an indication of other issues to come if ignored for a prolonged period of time. Cat codes usually indicate that the honey comb material has degraded so far that it no longer converts chemicals properly. And that degradation only gets worse with time.
How can i replace my Cats without toTake my hole engine Out of the Car..cause my Shop in Germany will do it so...and they say it will Take more than a Week and 2nd...where can i get rear subframe bushings
@@Dave_Fonzi_Richter I've heard of people removing the manifolds in the car, I say good luck on that one, pulling the engine is probably easier, Also sort out any oil weeps, seeps, or leaks while it's out. The cat and manifold are 1 unit. As for the 2 weeks, that's a stretch, 3-4 days tops for someone not knowing what their doing. Replace the 02 sensors while your in there, cause their just as hard to access. The only place that might sell bushing that I know of would be the dealer. I read of a company in the states that called creative steel, apparently they do stuff with bushings or something. I really couldn't help much with that. I haven't had to find a set myself yet.
Them damn bushings hit me 2006 sts 144k Shifter linkage I got the service airbag light i just wiggle the wires under the seat it goes away And im currently getting cat code 😐
Damn, yeah I still haven't fixed my diff bushing and I got codes for both cats as well, im probably never gonna fix it tbh, mine was dirt cheap and with the miles its not worth fixing, and it drives just fine anyways 😅
@@Dan300 had this car since 06 bro i seen some cats on rock auto for $300 a piece ima see they’ll fix my issue but i been clearing the code for about a month now car still drives well sometimes it’ll idle kinda hard at a light every blue moon i think my motor mount going bad 🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️
@@robbrobb325 oh wow thats a long time!! Yeah motor mounts are kinda common failures with this cars too, i also just looked at the ones on rock auto, they should work fine as well
@@blazedank100 yes but you won't believe this bruh I was getting catalytic codes because of a alternator going out I swapped the alt never seen the codes again
