I'm a poultry farmer as well and that genius notion of using chick feeders as waterers is amazing! Just a note on Indian Runner ducks, I adopted one lonely 1 day old duckling (named Dhoop) and raised her inside as a house pet (pet house ducks are actually more common than one might think!) and because I spent so much time with her she's honestly the best, most loyal and caring friend I've ever had. I've had dogs in the past and she's honestly way more cuddly, loving and defensive of me then they ever were! Keep up the good work and keep on uploading such great content, thank you for all that you do!

My wife and I have an empty nest so we are beginning a *real* flock. We have several acres to play on so we're trying out several breeds of chickens and we grabbed a few ducks while we were at it. And, now all I want to do is go out and play with my birds~ I would highly recommend keeping a flock for those suffering from real depression. Sure, bad things happen and you'll have to dispatch a bird now and then. But, as long as you're ready for that eventuality, the delight and happiness far outweigh the sad and nasty! I enjoy your videos! Fun, and informative. Release the Quacken!! XOXO.

Fantastic tutorial! Goslings are the most precious babies you will ever hold or keep. My oldest (38 now) calls them WeeeWeees and 8 years later my older birds still come to that call. She's a 5th generation goose keeper now! Exactly right if you treat your goslings like a kitten or puppy - a pet, they are awesome.

@cinnabar_
@cinnabar_ 4 года назад
maybe start with why your parents not allowing you to own ducks. it could be from spacing area, it could be from how responsible you are, or it could be from money/fund wise. just by Morgan explanation in this video, owning a duck is a lot of work and money to provide their daily necessity. after talking about the reason why with your parents, and either get rejected/accepted then talk to your parents with research data from owning ducks like: money spend for the ducks, how much it needs spacing and housing and maybe you could entice them with profit that came from them like eggs or maybe their feces as compost. you can calculate them all and maybe could sell those in a couple of weeks after they became full fledge adult. it would be amazing if you could start business and have some experience in raising live stock. so yeah cheers! hope you can own them either as pets or live stock!

@@cinnabar_ Great advice. Before getting my Yorkie puppy (Rosie) I would talk to my parents about it, and if they found an issue or something, I would research it and tell them how I could fix that you know? And, @Stella Becker , I would join BYC (BackYard Chickens). They have lots of info on not only chickens, but ducks, swans, quail, ect. My username is EverythingDucks if you want to contact me there I can help. It's a great site with tons of info. I would suggest reading the sticky tread in the duck forum on niacin deficiency, a lot of young ducks (namely Pekins) die from this. Any questions you may have you can leave there, and there're tons of people that can help.

what kind of ducklings did you get? i’m thinking about buying a few goslings and I am so excited! I once had a goose imprint on me (he was my neighbors goose, his mate had died) and every time I came outside he would come running towards me. he would sit on me, block traffic after attempting to follow when i got on the bus in the morning, and would wait outside my house for me. it was the sweetest thing ever. a farm lady took him to her farm and i wish they had told me the name of their farm so i could visit him. I named him Elmer because he looked like an elmers glue bottle.

I‘ve become a regular visitor to a nearby pond with ducks and both Grey and Nile Geese and a family of very tame nutrias. And one very mean swan. I used to mostly ignore the waterfowl in the past, but now I love watching them. They’re very chatty and industrious animals and have certainly contributed, to making me feel less lonely, these past couple of week’s. I really hope, I‘ll be in a position, to keep some myself at some point in the future.

@@GoldShawFarm probably 7-8 months ago i found was walking along an almost dried up dam when a family of ducks had just ran away from me, anyways when i got to where they ran away i found the smallest duckling stuck because it couldn't get past a bit of dirt because it was so small. If i left it there it would have died within a day {constant 40+ degree days} so i took it home and cared and loved it for a week until one day it passed away and it absolutely broke me, so i went on YT and started watching duck videos and got hooked, and your channel was one of the ones i found {i think you were at about 10k lol} and after watching your videos for a couple of weeks i decided to get 2 ducklings and try again {they were pekin} and that brings me to current day many months later, so i just wanted to say thank you for inspiring me to try it again they are honestly some of the best animals i own and without your videos i never would have got them, Thank You!
