No way. I hate it when I'm scammed in my city or any other city. Technically I'm not a local to that city but still would hate it when I'm scammed. I may be able to afford it, but the scammer doesn't deserve it.
Hi Collin, She was insane in this video. Even i was shocked, when i watched her in this video. India is not like this the way it is shown in the video. I feel sorry, when someone misleads there's though. India is very friendly country, once you should visit here. I strongly believe that it will change your mind. The things she said is not acceptable at all. She mighty said it in a fun way but we dont support such things. Its like pocketing someone's money... Please don't judge us by just watching this video. India is very loving and supportive community. You should watch others reactions too, there experience of visiting India and i am sure that you will say, it's not the same . 😊 🙏
It’s not a scam . It’s just that local people don’t earn as much as you thus their cost of living is less but you might do the same job and earn way more in the west so you should pay more. That’s very fair.
Shehnaj: What is 500 rupees worth to you anyway? Drew: 1 tea chai, 2 temple offerings, 1 tuktuk ride, 1 dhoti, 3 south indian dishes, 2 dessert drinks and 2 souvenirs 🙏
i am indian, I tell you which states are safe for foreigners North India : himachal pradesh, ladakh, jammu and kashmir West India : goa, maharashtra, gujarat South India : kerala, karnataka, tamil nadu, andhra pradesh, telangana North-East India : sikkim, darjeeling, meghalaya, arunachal pradesh, assam, all north-east state are beautiful. my personal favorite states : Himachal Pradesh, Ladakh, Jammu & Kashmir, sikkim, goa, kerala, all north-east states, Must Visit don't go bihar, jharkhnad, uttar pradesh
India is Poor, I concur. But not everyone you see is poverty ridden or anything. Just coz they aren't looking cool or modern, doesn't mean they're poor. For example, the man with that cycle should be a middle class and you're showing him when talking about poverty
gaurav patowary I gotcha I just learned in class how a lot of big corporations in the IT industry choose India since they are willing to work for a lot cheaper and it is because of the standard of living.
We are not able to judge them from their clothes.. A patient of my dad is a rickshaw driver, but he is earning more than 40k in a month, he has more than one rickshaw, which he has rented.. even lots of momo seller can earn more than an engineer..
No she's not #1 travel Vlogger of India. She doesn't even have 100k subscribers.😕 And no it's not fine if Auto-rickshaw overcharge because most of travellers coming to India is on a budget trip.
1:31 I didn't like a thing she said. Just because someone is from USA or UK, it doesn't mean that he is supposed to pay more for a taxi drive. First of all, they do not charge more cents. They charge at least 3-4 dollars more than what they're supposed to and there's no rule saying that you can rip off an American just because his currency has higher value.
Then why goverment charges more when foreigners visit any historical places like taj and kumbalgrah fort it like 100 for indians and 500 for foreigners so its okk to charge high
@@vinay1930 that's the fixed price dude. Americans pay the same rate. But in India, Indians are charged less and foreigners more. That's called scamming.
I'm an Indian but if someone is trying to rip you off then don't pay extra please . It might not be a problem for you but think of someone coming from Africa where currency is weaker . We should eradicate this problem instead of becoming a victim of it otherwise this will keep on going forever .
In Hyderabad,India there is a lot of medical tourism and majority of the people are from African countries. The auto-rickshaw(tuk-tuk) drivers demand 10 times more for these people compared to the natives. This thing really needs to be stopped!!!!
Man I remember a time when i was in goa (I’m from mumbai btw) and i was with this american guy showing him around and we decided to stop by for lunch. So we stopped by at a restaurant and they had thalis there. My man wouldn’t eat from there because it cost 200 rs for a fish thali that had rice, fish, curry, vegetables and chappati which is basically tortillas. He took me to another cheap place where they sold thalis for 120.
200 for Thali is cheapest as it is. I don't know what is even give. 120 rupees thali. They take the cheapest option which even Indians don't choose and complaint I got food poisoning.
Nope. A person getting paid lot less in one place is what is getting scammed for the same amount of work just because he is in a different location. These poor people are getting scammed because there is no free market for labor.
They may be paid less for their work, but they also have to pay far less for food, housing, etc. And charging people according to the color of their skin is racist. @@rajkiran1982
So hear me out, Ronit is 11 years old and he asks his mum after coming back from school he needs 4000rs for a new ps4 games his friends are playing, normally she would buy it for him but today she decided not to. She took a cab in the afternoon to go to an event the cab driver asked 100rs extra than the correct price, she was in rush so without thinking much she gave him what he asked for and got "SCAMMED". Later that evening Ronit was at his friends house playing the game his mum refuse to buy for him and had great fun at the sane time there was a cab driver who was buying cheap street earrings for his wife and a local liquor for himself which will make his night bubbly and full of happiness.
Iam from Europe and i have visited India twice and according to me it's a wonderful country ....and I actually love northeast it's really peaceful there but overall the country India is great
North East is not in the list of everyone that visits India, but if you are in mood for a bit of exploration, its a hidden gem of a place. I'm from Assam BTW.
always visit south india,north-east india ,mumbai, shimla, manali this all places r best to visit in india as compared to north india which u experienced in before vlogs
@@zeliang5101 South people are civilized. Even most northies agree with that when I went to the north.ya we are stupid that's why most IT, manufacturing and research companies are based in the south. There companies must be dumb too right?

Charge 500 for auto rickshaw is not fine. It's like pocketing some money. If some come to India the must be charged fair amount. When someone comes to India they already pay to our government as visa. I don't think over charge is ok in any seance. I am a proud Indian. If I go to any forgain country or talk to any forgain people and they complain about these things it would be a matter of shame. When foreigners comes to India we must guide them and help them instead of making money from them or fooling them. No one have any right lift someone's earnings. No matter the person is rich or not. His money is his money. So don't influence to pay much because they can afford please. Inflation is not good for any one.
Very well said! Wish I experienced that when I travelled to India. Everyday had to dodge scams and ripoffs, on top of paying 10 times the entrance fee a local would for historical sites - appreciate it's justifiable locals get a preferred rate, but the price charged to foreigners is disproportionate and just expensive by average global standards - remember is usually around 10usd

hey Drew I don't know if anyone has thought about it but I personally would love if you'd traveled around the US! not only NY and LA but places like Louisiana, Colorado or even Idaho or whatever! Just because it's the US it doesn't mean that it's anything short from beautiful or exotic.
@@qeawte2243 Tell me one thing 7 Dollar is how much expensive for a Foreigner 😕India is A Cheapest country Now what they want Everything have to be free here
@Rajdeep Srivastava So? That can be said about any other country. I’m indian btw and lived in Europe and now moved to Australia. It’s wayyyy more expensive in Australia. It doesn’t mean I should be getting ripped off. It’s not a good impression on the country and it’s people.

Just don't pay 500 rupees for a cab. Taxi fares are same for everyone and if they are trying to scam you just because you are a foreigner , you just have to become a bit rude to them and they will come to a reasonable price. Personally I would suggest you to use Uber or Ola even for small distances .
i am indian, I tell you which states are safe for foreigners North India : himachal pradesh, ladakh, jammu and kashmir West India : goa, maharashtra, gujarat South India : kerala, karnataka, tamil nadu, andhra pradesh, telangana North-East India : sikkim, darjeeling, meghalaya, arunachal pradesh, assam, all north-east state are beautiful. my personal favorite states : Himachal Pradesh, Ladakh, Jammu & Kashmir, sikkim, goa, kerala, all north-east states, Must Visit don't go bihar, jharkhnad, uttar pradesh
North Indian states like himachal and Uttarakhand are pretty safe for any visitor than any other part of India. That lady generalised the whole north India as unsafe.
I don’t agree with her argument on point 3. Being foreigners and rich doesn’t mean they can be cheated by poor people and get more money. Hard earned money can’t be taken in a cheated way. I have seen in some videos street barbers collected more than 200/- for a haircut as soon as they realized that they can get more money from foreigners where the actual price would be 30/-, Which is too bad. Honesty should be there and it is equal to poor and rich. Also it brings bad name to India.
But, then you can argue that the west cheats Indian students all the time. They charge us double the amount for a course in the UK compared to local students. So, if a course is 9000 pounds, foreign students pay 23,000 pounds. How is this fair?
Another thing is everything is a lot more expensive for a foreigner in the UK. We have to pay a huge amount for visas, for health care everything. It doesn't seem correct at all.
2 things - 1. I did not understand the point about overpaying. I understand that haggling for 15-20 rupees can be done away with but paying 500 Rupees for a short rickshaw ride? And the logic being, that's just 7 Dollars? That's a really stupid logic. It's like a 45 bucks taxi ride in new york costing you 100 USD. Whenever you travel, unless you are ultra rich, you always set a budget in mind based on the trends in a country. And lodging and transportation within the country are the 2 most expensive legs of your tour. Do not overpay. If you want to make someone's day then set a price which is fair and then give them a tip of 500 Rupees. But please do not start a trend where you are overpaying for small things. Not every foreign traveler is rich. 2. About Indian e-visa. Yes, it's simple and mostly hassle free. But do not wait till last minute to apply for visa and hope that it's just a formality and you will get an approval within 48 hours. One of my friends applied 4 days prior to her trip and got her e-visa rejected after 2 days with the reason being "English is not properly understandable." English is not her first language, or second. But yes, it's partially her fault that she delayed applying for visa and took the process for granted. She could have taken someone's help for filling up the form.
Imagine Us Travelling EU and Paying in EURO, there is no Such thing called as BAGPACKERS it's only meant for the EU, AUS, CAN, USA. it's is as SIMPLE I can Put up. - Staying in 3$/day Cheap Pahargang, complaining but can't Afford to Live in proper Indian Middle Class FamyHotel of 10$ /day...dontComplain then. - DON'Twanna bargain then book OLA or UBER. - BE like an Indian Middle Class. - Don't Be Whitetrash / Bloody Fake Attitude.
@@jenimarai1906 exactly they are expecting travel India so cheap like some even go 500$/600$a Month. What can you expect with this money. Only Disappointment.
For number 3, I couldn't stand the shouting over each other lol. But I have to agree with Drew regarding principle. Being overcharged by dishonest people in India is commonplace and westerners should be wary of that, esp since we are particularly susceptible to that. I have been to India and by the end of my trip i became somewhat of a bargaining expert. My advice is to just play hard ball with the locals when it comes to money. You almost have to treat every rupee as if it were sacred - no matter the exchange rate! It's a common misconception that just because we're westerners, it doesn't mean that we're rich. Therefore, we cannot afford to throw money away like that to a petty and dishonest person.
It's incorrect to pay RS.500 when locals pay only 50. Not every tourist is Rich. There are so many budget travellers and backpackers visiting India. They also need to travel within reasonable budget.
Though there is poverty people can be poor...... Not everyone is a scamster dear.......Just be happy and explore India to the highest level of your curiousity.....👍👍👍👍👍🇮🇳

I'm with you on this one Drew. Something might be substantially cheaper than the US, but on principle a person cannot tolerate being ripped off. Who cares if it is one penny difference in price. We should get treated like anyone else.
Bargaining tip. If they say for 500 rs, calculate 60% discount in your mind, which is 200, If they don't agree increase 20 or 30rs and give your last offer. Stick to your price. You’re wrong. There’s half a billion people that live in extreme poverty. The income inequality is a byproduct of extreme corruption. Many third world countries have income inequality, few have so many living in such harsh conditions and on a couple dollars a day
Not acceptable to accept being ripped off repeatedly as a form of "rich visitor tax". I try to pay the market rate or better ALWAYS. As Drew said it's a matter of principle. Typical woman comment.
