As someone who was diagnosed over a decade ago. There seems to be no real treatment... So, sucks for us I guess? My favorite is "lose weight" when you're not overweight, and *-wait for it-* PCOS makes it very difficult to lose weight. Or "go on BC" when that often makes your periods and cramps worse when they are already unbearable. Another W for women's healthcare.....

But it's true... Finally I got to my correct body weight (after many years of knowing that if you stay at your right weight for over 3 years your hormone levels naturally reach a healthy equilibrium) and it worked. Everything changed, slowly but surely. Insulin, oil, hair, skin, mood, even cramps on my legs. I had PCOS for almost 20 years. Believe me, losing weight is the best, cheapest and healthier option. Regardless of the difficulty of losing weight, IT IS the answer to the problem. I will add, it is easier to lose weight when you exercise. Not because of the inherited benefits of exercising itself, but because you eat "wiser" when you already sacrifice time and money to exercise. ❤

This describes signs of PCOS and seems to also hint at the underlying cause if it, insulin resistance. An issue that is not being addressed in society

Whether or not it's a _cause_ of PCOS is up for debate. It seems to be part of a vicious cycle, in which high insulin levels worsen PCOS symptoms, but the insulin resistance could actually be caused/contributed to by the PCOS, and about 20% of women with PCOS don't have IR. I'm a good example of how PCOS can predispose someone to IR rather than IR causing PCOS - I have a BMI on the low healthy end, I don't eat refined carbs very often (like, I don't even remember the last time I had a slice of white bread), and I eat below the daily recommended intake for added sugars, and I'm insulin resistant. I don't even eat enough calories in a day to consume enough sugar to cause insulin resistance at my age, but here we are lol. In addition, my insulin levels have been totally normal until recently, but I've had PCOS symptoms since forever, so I know which one came first. For a lot of women with PCOS, it's not enough to live a healthy lifestyle to avoid IR and reduce PCOS symptoms. I feel like the only other thing I could try would be to photosynthesise lol Reducing IR has been established to reduce PCOS symptoms, so it's definitely good to pursue it, but you're swimming against the tide. Progress often doesn't match the effort put in. You do everything right and still fail, which is disheartening, to say the least. Hence, it's often not fully addressed.
@sommerzeit140
@sommerzeit140 День назад
@@werm3169 IR can be caused by constant high cortisol levels, which depends on both things that happen to you and on your overall attitude to what's going on. For some people doing everyday tasks is equal to crossing a battlefield, and every smallest conflict causes spikes of cortisol, which makes the cells overall less sensitive to insulin. In some cases the process of coping with IR can be seen as a problem, and it just adds even more cortisol to one's life. In this case working on one's attitude to problems and normalising sleep and work-rest balance is the only way out of the vicious circle. Not sure if it's applicable to your particular case, though.

You can also have it without these symptoms. I don’t have hirsutism, acne, abnormally oily skin, thinning hair, or dark skin on my neck or armpits. I do have some skin tags but they are minimal and only in high-friction areas, so not sure if it’s related or not. I got my first period right after my 12th birthday, had fairly regular periods for a year or so, then nothing for almost three years. I am overweight, but I was overweight before I ever got my first period as well. We got my blood tested when I was 16 and they confirmed I have PCOS. I’m now 24. My symptoms have never worsened.

Acne ✅ Hair loss (like I will need a wig soon) ✅ Facial hair ✅ I still have hair growing on my face, now on my face cheeks even though I get laser. Been doing so for over a year. At least I dont need to shave twice a day and can no longer grow a beard. I need to shave daily and it's much thinner and nowhere near as much. I don't have any of the insulin issues. My blood sugars have always been good even when pregnant. Though I have had absent periods for several years. I wanted help to stop hair loss, stop faical hair growth and reduce acne. I was told since I cant be on the pill (caused me to have a heart attack) and I am not trying to get pregnant there was nothing they can do and no treatment. Especially because I wasn't overweight. Otherwise they would advice to lose weight, but they couldn't recommend that.

Hormonal birth control like pill or patch
@josiedavis5531
@josiedavis5531 2 месяца назад
Do it the natural way, through nutrition, diet (organic foods), lifestyle and limiting stress and supplements. pcos is linked in insulin resistance so it’s better to look at managing insulin levels which will in turn affect testosterone and estrogen levels. Natural way is longer but is more safe than using synthetic hormone alternatives that can have serious impacts on your body in different ways.

@@ambrrreu birth control is not a cure. I hate how they put you on birth control for absolutely any menstrual problem. It is used to viel the symptoms but doesn't help the underlying cause at all. They don’t believe me till I show them the clumps after conditioning. I also have the skin tags and the darkened skin. All my blood results came back normal with mildly elevated testosterone but still with in normal. Sonograms have shown big cysts on my ovaries before I started meds. I do know one thing, stress makes it 100 times worse. Pcos has nearly killed me twice through hemorrhaging.

Hello, I just wanted to say a thing or two I am a 17 year old female (18 pretty soon) who was diagnosed with PCOS since the age of 15, thought I don't think it was an "advanced stage". Please keep in mind I don't know all the details since, in all my fears, my mother took care of the situation for me. I started my visits to the gynecologist since 12 or 13 due to my very late (and usually missing) periods. I went to several sessions but nothing seemed suspicious. My doc said I was too young at the time, and that by the following years I should be fine. Turns out the reason for the missing periods (and also for much of my irritability, hormonal fluctuations and other sh*t that affected me without realising) were caused by my polycystic ovaries. Great At this moment I am on a supliments prescription. It's a good thing for me because they are easy to be taken and don't affect me emotionally or mentally (past medications gave me unbeatable cramps, nausea and headaches, bad mood swings...)

What is the cure to this?
@mayov6346
@mayov6346 3 месяца назад
There isnt any cure as much as i know. I had very painful periods and im having hair issues. I started taking the combiend pill about a year ago and it helped immensely with period pain but the hair is still the same. My mom also told me that she was diagnosed with it and she had one cyst that went away by itself after a couple of years. 2 have shown on my ultrasound and they still havent went away. Just try enforcing healthy habits and hopefully your body will regulate ur hormones properly

I’ll just say I went on an extreme Keto diet journey for years, I lost weight… I felt great, I had energy and no brain fog. However I still couldn’t get pregnant and my beard didn’t disappear. Lol but I still promote Keto for the energy and mental clarity

but lets not forget That even if you don't have these symptoms that you can still have it. Some women can not have the hair growth, the acne, the large belly or have only one of these symptoms and she'll still have this diasease. Healthcare is so important because sometimes, You will think you are a totally o k and your body will not give you any signs that something is wrong.
