Great little video. Unfortunately I've found offset gears, while an elegantly simple idea, only work nicely when you turn them slowly and gently. Ramp up the speed and torque and the gears misalign all the time. Even when working properly, offset gears create a lot of shake in the mechanism (useful for some things).
Neat. I never would have thought to use the ratchet mechanism for a stepping motor movement! And I like how in the last one, the output is held in place... it's not like it's free-wheeling like others. Thank you!
Your mechanisms are awesome! Can I suggest adding a geared down motor to demonstrate the motion of your creations a bit smoother? I think it would really add a lot to your already awesome creations and allow us all to appreciate them operating smoothly and continuously.
Realy nice video! I love learning about more mecanism that I could use in my MOC s. Please, also try making more complex mechanisms. I realy enjoyed thouse LEGO calculators you made.
Yeah, there are Lego Geneva mechanisms, but they are like 16x16 studs. The closest to this is prolly #2, but #6 has the advantage, that you can't spin the output freely if it's not being driven, just like a real geneva mechanism
