Dear Bonica, first of all I want you to know that I use google translate. Therefore, it may be an incorrect translation. I'm also a sharpener, but no hairdressing scissors. tailors, garments, shears of armchair factories, etc. related to. I've been trying to make time for the videos on your channel for a few days, it's really nice. Related to this video, have you ever tried your scissors on shredded cotton? I would like to say that I am amazed by his talent and narration. With respect and love from 6000 miles away. 👏👏👏

Thank you for your kind words. I have not tried shredded cotton and the harshness is a little dulling for hair shears. At the Arius Eickert factory back years a go, they used an imitation silk fabric to test hair shears but it did not feel like cotton. It was very light and silky.

Have also heard of and used plastic grocery bags. I suspect similar to cellophane but easier to have around. Just lift the bag with the shear if it cuts through it is sharp.

That would probably work well.

Nice explanation. I have been using hair and perm paper. The next time I place an order with you I will purchase some of that fur, thanks!

I'll look for it. I do like my roll of fur. It makes it easier.

Kitchen utility shears almost always seem to have low angles like 8-10°. I have found that if I have matched the most successful angle for kitchen shears is to use plastic zip lock bags. 9 times out of 10 if my sharpening does not pass this test instead the plastic folds but the shears still cut tissue i will investigate further to ensure the best sharpening results. It was frustrating in the beginning of my sharpening profession to sharpen kitchen scissors thinking they were sharp until I tried to cut open a bag of frozen peas. If at first you don’t succeed….try, try again.

I don't do many kitchen scissors but I think you may be right.

Is there a reason you don't use rabbit fur? In Denmark a rabbit fur cost $4 That's the same or cheaper than fake fur.

Good question. I have used rabbit fur in the past. It runs about $6 a pelt here. Since I sharpen mostly in hair salons I have some stylists who were members of PETA and I was nearly ejected from the salon. I can buy the fake fur cheaper and more readily. Also, Beau my dog gets into the fake fur all the time….I can imagine the rabbit fur would drive him crazy. But you are right, the rabbit fur would probably be better.
