When I got my new rings, I also had made an excellent set of dupes with inexpensive (relatively) lab grown stones. If I’m traveling or doing something that might damage the real rings, I wear the dupes. No one has ever noticed the difference. My stylist told me this secret. She never wears her real rings working in the salon where they would be exposed to chemicals and pressure.
I did take off my diamond ring every time I washed my hands, showered, slepted you name it and guess what. I lost it!!! So wear the damn ring all the time! That's why we buy pure gold and diamonds to handle the wear of everyday! Now I ride horses with my ring and it's perfect.
Agreed. I'm not taking it off and on fifty times a day. Impractical and just increasing the odds of losing it (for someone like me, anyway lol). I don't use any hand or body products while it's on my hand so I usually don't put it on til after I'm done getting ready. But after that, it's on for the day unless I apply hand lotion or sanitizer.
yeah same. i used to take it off to wash my hands and lotion and it feel down the sink! ever since then i decided i would rather have a ring full of lotion than to lose it 😫
Interesting since I have personally found 2 amazingly beautiful diamond and gemstone rings in public bathrooms; one at work on top of a TP holder and the other over a sink in a busy hotel. Good news is I was able to find the owner of the first ring-I dont think she will ever forget me since she had just gotten engaged and was dying she lost her ring. The other I’ll never be sure went back to the original owner since I had to give it to the lost and found and the hotel….i tried!
These guidelines are designed to help us think more carefully about when we do and don’t wear it, which is helpful. I do NOT recommend getting too crazy about taking it off when washing hands, since I’ve found two amazing diamond and gemstone rings in public bathrooms, and no matter how vigilant, it’s hard to return such a ring to the actual owner. The first I absolutely was able to directly return it to the owner but the second one I’ll never know for sure…gave it to the hotel lost and found….
I feel like if you take your jewelry off the moment you get home, then you are only wearing it to show off to others. I wear my jewelry all the time even when I am home alone. I like to enjoy it for myself, not just for others or special occasions. I wear gloves when working outside, painting, etc. The store where my ring came from will reapply the rhodium any time for free, end it only takes a few minutes.
Love ur suggestions! But I’ve had bad experiences of having all my jewelry stolen when my house got broken into. (Insurance don’t pay for jewelry much). Since then, I always wear my ring regardless what I’m doing because I feel that the safest place for my ring is on my finger. I don’t want to take it off and hide it somewhere when I am carry Ming heavy stuff or cleaning my hands, cause I know there will be a chance of misplacing it the sec I take it off. If I bend or hurt my ring, I can always get it fix. Just cross my finger and hope That the diamond won’t just fall off😬
I never wear my engagement ring unless I'm going out of the house or we have guests over. Lol. When I'm at home, it sits in a jewelry dish all by itself.
I appreciate all these tips. The first one is so simple yet so life changing if you really think about it. My engagement ring is definitely not the most expensive but I would do everything to take care of it to show appreciation to my fiancé. Thank you so much for the tips, Bonnie. :)
So we spend a lot money on the Diamond ring and we worry about mess it up and don’t wear it often . So why we have to spend a lot money for the ring that we can’t wear all the time . I will tell my husband sale my Diamond ring use the money pay off the house . And get something not too exspensive so I can wear all the time .
If you already have the diamond, keep it. It's already too late to recoup your money; you won't get more than 1/3 what you paid for it. Jewelry stores have enormous markups and you'll never get that back when you sell it.
Yeah, the more I think about engagement/wedding rings the more I don’t care enough to have an organic diamond or even diamonds at all. Think I’ll be okay with a simple clear colored gem 😂
Honestly, when I went shopping for an engagement ring, diamonds are so over priced. When I asked the jeweler to show me a half cart diamond vs a clear sapphire for comparison, but had the jeweler not tell me which which one was which, when they were put together I couldn’t tell which one was a diamond and which one was a sapphire so that told me I would be Just fine with a gemstone versus a diamond. I want with a clear sapphire and love my ring!
@@rebrownell is that white/colorless sapphire? White/colorless sapphire is not a good diamond simulant because sapphire don't have much fire like diamond. Imo, colored sapphire more beautiful
I don’t do the first one but all the others I do. I can’t stop living because of a delicate piece of jewelry. I chose an everyday set not a special occasion piece. Mine are there for farm work, brewery work, washing hands frequently, going to the gym and swimming with them on.I can’t imagine having to be helpless because I can’t use my hand or having to leave rings at home all the time. My solitaire is in white gold but I went with palladium for wedding and anniversary bands. 13 years later they look great. Jeweler steam cleans 2x year.
I guess the only thing I do correctly is grab my ring on the side when removing it. I do sleep with both rings on and my reasoning is if I ever had to get out of the house quickly in a middle of the night emergency I don’t want to worry about looking in a panic for my ring.
In 21 years of marriage i have never, not even one time, removed my wedding band. The solid gold has held up very well. I do remove my engagement ring more often than not, but never my wedding band. I sleep in my earrings, too.
#1 it actually never occurred to me that people did that. I always took a ring off from the side because I didn't want to get oil and dirt from my hands on the stone because I was trying to keep it as clean as possible I'm a bit obsessive about cleaning any rings with stones because I love the sparkle
Hi Bonnie, thanks for another video. What makes your channel unique is that you show diamonds and provide some diamond education. I hope you make that a part of every show. I’d love to see a video on the diamonds you would not choose such as a bad bow-tie effect vs. a good one. Or, a video on what inclusions to avoid. I had one jewelry store show me an SI2 eye clean but under the scope I found twinning twists throughout the entire stone, I didn’t select it bc I was afraid it could crack. So, I’d like to learn more about your diamond curating process. I’d also enjoy videos on gold jewelry every now and then. Best of luck growing your channel!
Will you please do a video on jewelry staples you think every women should have. Necklace to right hand ring to bracelets and earrings. I'd love a jewelers perspective (and a tiny bit of idea cred 😂) hopefully this is an exciting idea for everyone
Bonnie how can I prevent snagging my ring on clothes or accidentally hitting it on the edge of a table? I’ve gotten better at preventing this but once in a blue moon it happens and I’m always afraid a diamond will fall off.
thank you for this! I just got mine and am now paranoid of ruining it. These are really helpful. So glad to know it's okay to wash my hands cause I wasn't sure. and I don't want to accidentally drop it down someone's uncovered drain one day because I was taking it off.
I’m glad I watched this video! I’m a teacher and find myself using sanitizer more frequently throughout this time with COVID. How long would you say it takes to start wearing off the rhodium coat? I’ve been engaged for a month, and I have a white gold ring, so hopefully it’s no issue yet. Regarding hand washing, what about natural soaps without harsh chemicals? Is there a soap that you do recommend that won’t affect the white gold band? Thank you!
Hi Bonnie, love your videos. What size is your diamond ring? And also I loooove your watch. Which brand is it? I would appreciate it if you could tell me 🙏
Yes he's a very good tips and it actually kind of horrifies me to see people with white gold rings or sterling silver rings using hand sanitizer that will eat the rhodium right off like nobody's business because it has a high content of alcohol I just think it's better to keep a ring box in your purse so whenever you need to do these things although when I'm out somewhere I throw caution to the wind and I'll wash my hands with my rings on for the simple fact that I'm going to take the rings off and forget them on a random sink. And I'm constantly telling people about tugging on their rings get them from the bottom as long as there's no pave stones and gently wiggle them off but I've seen a lot of people pull at their center Stone and I just I don't understand some people. Just like when I worked here at Old Town in Albuquerque New Mexico we sold a lot of very expensive turquoise and silver jewelry and the women would pull on those bracelets and tug at them to get them off and I had to make sure before I showed a bracelet to show them exactly how to take it on and off there's a certain finesse to it and it just used to horrify me some of the other ladies I worked with forgot to instruct these people how to put them on and off and it can actually damage those expensive bracelets just like any of any type of jewelry is in a good thing but thank you for this video I enjoyed it very much
Lol man I'd horrify you about a million times a day 🤣 I'm a nurse and have to sanitize my hands constantly. I'm definitely not taking my ring off every 2 minutes throughout the day.
@@kkat9097 I can't believe you wear them to work!!!! I bought a stainless steel plain band to wear to work, no way would I wear anything with stones in, apart from the fact it's against our uniform policy, who would want to wear anything nice in that environment.
Rings can be re-plated. I'd rather wear my white gold ring and have it re-plated every few years than never wear it just because I have a job that requires me to use hand sanitizer and wash my hands constantly.
Thanks for the tips! let my husband do the heavy lifting for travel 🤭. I just wear my diamond rings for special occasions and I wear my moissanite for travel
Where are your earrings from ? I’ve been looking for something similar for my wedding. Love the long dangle sparkle 💖any recommendations for something similar that you are wearing ?? Thanks a ton !!! LOVE YOUR CONTENT !!
Totally guilty of dumping everything in a box, lol Oh, and be very careful with hotel room doors, they are very heavy and one time I try to stop the door from slamming into my kids and it hit my ring first, I lost 2 side diamonds on the my ring, luckily it didn't know off the center stone.
I've a trinity ring I designed myself because of covid and lockdown no where was open so had it hand made, but we own a farm and I've a lot of animals so dont really wear it so mines pretty safe from wear and tear
Just got engaged this past Monday on vacation! & Ive been meaning to do research like this. But, Unfortunately have done the sleeping one and i think the removal one too, & etc. Mainly at the beach/pool. So Im really upset because I specifically asked my fiancé if I could wet it with water (washing hands & etc), Because I knew we were gonna be at the beach (asked him about that too & if it was okay at the pool. He kept responding with “its fine.”And now I do my research and find out that I shouldn’t of done ANY of that! Is there any saving my ring or what are my options?? Professional cleaning??All I know is he does have insurance on it if I lose it. #Help!
i am sorry , but my mom wore her rings for 40 years , all day everyb day , cleaning cooking gardening,,, i dont know what your ring is made up of , but diamonds are forever, moissy rings are very durable too. there is no reason to freak out. i am sure your ring is still looking great.
A ring (not an ER) got smooshed when putting my suitcase in the overhead bin! It is 10k yellow gold, so I thought it was stronger...it bent so much it almost broke!
It is a thin band, and the center stone would probably be 1.5-2ish carat equivalent. It has a double halo. It is a fashion ring with a citrine center stone.
🙋🏻♀️ I was guilty of sleeping with my diamonds on for the longest and I wasn’t aware that the prongs were catching snagging on my blankets and loosening the diamond fell out one night while I was sleeping.
Hi!!! What size stone are you wearing? Im trying to choose best ct size for my size 6 finger. Was thinking 2.5 or 3 ct. I love thin bands, but does a more thick band, look better?
Hey Bonnie! we just got a custom engagement ring for me and there's diamonds on the side of my ring (pave)...what do you suggest for the 1st way if you have a ring like the one I have?
Same way, just make sure you clean the pave regularly. Made a video on cleaning your jewelry as well. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-gAuFTg3wSWk.html
Thanks 4 info. Bonnie what cut and carat is your eternity band?? I’m always trying to capture it to see it better, but no luck? I’m guessing 4/5 ct radiant?????
In short the ring with stones is only to show off and not really to wear daily all the time, washing hands or shower or not. Might as weep don’t get a rings with stones then
Lol there's no winning! But it's good info so people don't have high expectations. Especially when you're spending potentially thousands of dollars, I'd rather know how to make them last forever.
I do whatever I want in mine. I have a 3 carst emerald cut and 2 eternity bands and wear them all the time. I clean her every couple of days I baby her but I damn sure wear her. I'm only alive so long, she's getting worn and shown off
@@JMac-27 I've got an emerald cut sapphire and I'm damn sure wearing them all the time, unless I'm doing a 'dirty' job, that ring stays on my finger. When she gets a little dull my jeweller will clean it for me, or I use an old soft toothbrush and clear liquid hand soap. Comes up lovely. I didn't buy my rings to pull them on and off at every second, I brought them to wear!
We recommend to take off your engagement ring during more strenuous activities like going to the gym and washing the dishes. These only take up a small chunk of time in a day :-) -Team By Bonnie 💎
