Love that you have Little Big Adventure 2 as the thumbnail, main reason I clicked the video honestly. Countless hours of my 4 and 5 year old time were spent uselessly trying to get anywhere in the game until I finally got older and could make any headway.
Daym... this is truly the era of video game innovation. Gen X got to experience humanity at it's peak of creativity. We didn't get games made on Unreal engine, each game was made from scratch by people who loved making games, and it showed! That era founded all modern day games styles from FPS, strategy, RPG, platformer, shooter and everything in between. To this day, many of those games have more substinance then their modern equivlents. Thanks for bringing me back!
I always felt bad for Farmer Ted for always losing and being in last place. When I finally worked up the top of the rankings, maxed out my vehicle upgrades and beat Duke Nukem I went back and raced the lower tier races again that Farmer Ted competed in, destroyed the other vehicles and allowed him to win so that his ranking could improve. 😂😂
Damn ... X-COM TFTD was really creeping me out back in the day. Still loved playing it. The soundtrack was terrific. And the screams of civilians in the background. MEMORIES.
X-COM was terribly scary and dark, especially the chryssalids that turned your soldiers into zombies, but the game literally riveted to itself with its atmospheric. I really enjoyed reading new research and learning something about aliens and weapons. In the second part, the music and the atmosphere are even more viscous and oppressive because the action takes place in the ocean)
Thank you very much for your comment! I hope in the near future it will be possible to make another video on the same topic where there will be other games)
Yes you could make 3 videos of DOS games. Magic Carpet, Jazz Jackrabbit, Descent, Rise of the Triad, Dark Forces, MK1, MK2, Super SF2 Turbo, FIFA 96, Quake 1, Screamer 1+2, Nascar Racing, Indy Car Racing,
And now without the hassle that we had to go through in the 90s to get them running. I think most of those who talk about nostalgia or the "Golden Age" of PC gaming tend to forget that part. Or they never had to deal with it.
Awesome! It has always been my dream to sell games and be the first to see and play new games. I am very glad that I managed to surprise with some games) And which ones?
@@krakenatemyboss Mainly the racing and beat-em-ups (they weren't really my thing) but specifically "Normality" and "Tom & Jerry". When Mechwarrior 3 and 4 were released I was given gold copies (pre-master) of them both with one condition: That I reviewed them. Not much of a condition but I did have to sign stuff promising I wouldn't leak the version I had, again, no problem ;). As a bit of a techie I also got to test a few bits of interesting hardware (a DVD decoder card - standard PCs couldn't read video directly from a DVD) and one of the first batch of 3DFx graphics cards in the UK (now that was incredible for the time). I've got to admit I do miss it
I never had a DOS machine but my cousin's father had one. I used to go over there a lot during school holidays and play Doom I and II, Wolfenstein, Duke Nukem 3D and Carmageddon to name a few. So many awesome games during that time and quite the luxury. My brother's and I were happy enough with the Arcades and our parents bought us a NES, SNES, PSX during the time. My brother's and I had a great time as children. RIP Big Bro, we miss you.
OMG.... Transport Tycoon (deluxe!)... A game I *STILL* play even today! Theme Hospital was epic for me... Also CnC and X-COM TFTD. So much time was spent on TTD...
Wow this just unlocked some childhood memories. I remember flipping through my dad's beige plastic box of floppy discs and playing Duke Nukem II, Blues Brothers, and Red Baron
@@krakenatemyboss it was also made in the village next to me which i found out 20 years later which is cool, and we all love Chris Barrie for the first voice over ( i hope) 😂
Thank you so much for this video!! I remember playing demo of Little Big Adventure as a child and I was looking for that game everywhere based on what I remembered without any luck. And now out of nowhere I found it here!! :D
Hi dude) I made a new video and added more games. I think you will be interested to see it :) - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9mRchg51W_U.html
I would also like to see a modern version of this game. Probably a lot of interesting buns would be added. As a child, I really liked this game. We played it with my older sister and sometimes I even managed to beat her, but rarely)
You're not wrong. The massive leaps in technology, variety and amount of ground breaking games, that still hold up well today, was huge. Easily the golden era. I'm so happy that its still possible to play most of these games, many with HD mods too.
The leap in PC games quality, probably starting with DOOM, was incredible. For me the golden age is 1993-1997. And then the 3D accelerator card age comes after.
I think your right. This was a time before big business, and every one was experimenting and trying new fresh idea. So many games were unique and still haven't been replicated with modern tech and systems
Yes, it's nostalgia, but it's also forgetfulness. The Golden Age is right now as we can play ALL games of ALL ages without all the obstacles, technical and otherwise, that we had to overcome at those earlier times.
thanks for showing all the titles of these games. i still remembered little big adventure but couldnt remember the title. thanks to you i now found it on steam and can play it again ^^
Wow, Theme Hospital had such good graphics that I always thought it was a much newer game. I still play Transport Tycoon today, but OpenTTD instead of the original these days.
OMG, the memories! Feels like another lifetime. Anyone remember what that game is called where you can fly jets and bombers around a 2D map (seen from above), and you are supposed to destroy enemy bases and planes? The faster you fly, the further the bombs would go after they were dropped...
thank you so much for this, brings back so many good memories. My dad used to be an extreme pc video game collector so my childhood was pretty much awasome. I have been dying to find one of my favorite games, I dont think it was a dos game but not sure. You play an alien stuck on a planet trying to escape. It was a top-down gameplay action and puzzle. Cant remember the name and loosing my mind over it :)

my favs: 05:32 seek and destroy = good heli shooter game 07:52 - Psycho Pinball, 1995 08:23 - Raptor: Call of the Shadows, 1994 08:43 - Speed Haste, 1995
Thank YOU! This brings back so many fond magical cushy memories! Having the privilege to live and experience the birth o pc gaming is a true lucky experience to have. Nowadays games aren't what they use to... back then serious adult people with heavy programing and math and god knows what backgrounds and lots of passion pioneered gaming into existence. Nowadays is just profit, kids and stupid managers dictating... sc***w the money and bring back the passion, the creativity, the insanely immersive worlds.... I remember buying PC-Games magazines each month so I could follow the production of each new game. Now is just chaos and the same flashy s***t over and over. Where's the creativity, the beautiful color pallets, the deep stories ? MFs making money that's what....
I bought me a new gaming pc a couple years ago so as to finally be able to play the latest stuff. Unfortunately, too many of the games nowadays I find just boring...So now I purchase old games from GOG, as they have many of the old DOS titles that I always wanted but couldn't afford when they were originally released. I'm having a blast playing these old DOS games...on my modern gaming PC no less!
I knew and played like 90% of games from this list. I feel old. Im also glad i found KKND there :) But Im missing Dark Colony which was very brutal but awesome rts.

I have this weird thing where every 2 years I forget what Electro Body was and then ponder "what the hell was that game??" for an hour until I track it back down. Odd question but since you are a resource for these games I've been trying to remember a game from a long, long time ago. I can only relate the details I remember. It took place on a spaceship and was essentially a collection of minigames. Some examples of the minigames: Catching alien vomit in a barf bag that alien tourists would vomit out of their UFO. Astronaut golfing on an alien planet with phlegm. Saving cows from being abducted by UFOs. Stopping girl scouts on the front lawn of a house, I think this one was based on Galaga. The game was kind of humorous. I don't really remember anything else about it. The command deck of the spaceship was sort of the hub where you'd start all of the minigames. If by chance you'd have any knowledge of this game I'd be super grateful! Either way thank you.
@@JudgeDeadd Okay seriously this was pretty much the LAST remaining mystery of its kind from my childhood. THAT’S IT! My dude thank you very much. I appreciate you so, so much.
3:35 -- странно, я такого Dizzy не видел в своё время 🤔 (5:10 -- вот такой Dizzy запомнился только).. 3:55 -- оооу, помню эти гонки, очень классные.. В детстве с другом помню постоянно в них гоняли))
OpenTTD is arguably better, as it fixes some of the annoying things about the original games. The AI is still terrible though lol. But I grew up playing the original Transport Tycoon. Longest-running game I've ever played.
I'm looking for an old DOS game i had in some floopy disks that were that kind of point click game or arrow moving. The plot was something about a man that had a time-travel bike-like vehicle and you would use it to travel from some eras. I remember he in a dinossaur era on the demo version. If anyone remember this game, tell me please.
Some of these games are super obscure. How about more popular ones? Who remembers these: Jazz Jackrabbit One Must Fall: 2097 Jetpack Zoombinis Chip's Challenge NASCAR Stunts And more that I can remember but don't remember the names of. There are even more popular ones out there (Monkey Island). I was happy to see Full Throttle, Seek and Destroy and Transport Tycoon show up on the list though.
I have a second video on games. There are also a lot of cool games - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-fugj8JLQEDU.html. There is Jazz Jackrabbit and One Must Fall: 2097. Now I am preparing the 3rd video, there will also be a lot of cool games
Funny how i grep up in this era and i never messed with Dos, i wouldn't even know where to start, lol,i didn't get involved with computers till probably 99-00 but i never messed with floppy discs.
I've been trying to remember a game I played in this generation. I was born in 88 so it would have been between 95 and 2000 and probably a few years old. It was a top down battle simulator with really rough pixelated units. I remember something like elves and dwarves. The most striking detail was a special ability called "boomerang" and it sent a boomerang around the unit about 3 times. Archers could spin in a circle to shoot arrows in all directions. The idea was you controlled one unit at a time during a big battle and did the best using the most powerful units. Does this sound like anything you remember seeing? Thanks if you see this!
