So many amazing books for you this year, Johan! I just finished Realm of the Elderlings, and while Rain Wild Chronicles wasn’t my favorite, I still enjoyed it. The series as a whole is one of the crowning achievements of literature. Thank you for including the rest of The Edan Trilogy in your possible reads this year!

I saw you just uploaded a new review. I will definitely give that a watch. I have started The Dragon Keeper, and so far, I am enjoying it a lot! We will see how I feel after book 4! Thanks again for gifting me the books!

I loved the Riftwar saga, but I'm a sucker for classic style fantasy. I think it's important to know before going in is Feist wrote this series as ths history to his Dungeons and Dragons campaign. Also there are those who have called the work derivative, but it's not, it's the original, or at least one of the originals from that area. From my understanding a lot of modern fantasy authors were influenced by Feist's work. Lastly, if you do enjoy your time in Midkemia, do not skip the Empire Trilogy he wrote with Janny Wurts. Very much worth the read.

Wow, lots of great books there! Shadow of what was lost is on my list as well as the Will of the Many! I think my Broken Binding copy of Hanged God arrives soon so that will be on the list as well!

I’m glad you’re reading the shadow of what was lost! A few booktubers I like read book 1 and gave up. It’s sad because books 2 and 3 are some of the best of fantasy in my opinion. I’ve never read an ending as shocking as book 3. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts!

So happy you’re planning on reading Feist! I started reading his books last year and I’m over half way through - totally loving it! Sorry to do this, but there are 30 Books! set within Feist’s world. I would defo recommend to look at how to read the books as there are two ways to read these books, either in publication or time order. I started to do publication but I somehow changed it to chronological order as it made more sense. Interested to see what you choose to do!

Good video! I see mix of books, do you prefer SoftBack or hardback when reading or a mix ? Collecting HC to read to some of the authors and others softback? Cause I saw you have both of “the shadow of what was lost”

I've read the China Mieville trilogy and I highly recommend it. Btw it goes by the name Bas Lag (the name of the world it is set in), and it's more like 3 standalone books which can be read in any order, there are like 2 minor recurring characters

I bought The Shadow of What Was Lost and The Will of The Many this month. I'm looking forward to those. I'm a new reader I read daily now and I'm borderline addicted 😁 I haven't read Sanderson but have done some digging and I think I'm going with The Way of Kings as my first.

i would implore you that if you enjoy broadly Empire of Black and Gold, even if it isnt as high as youd like, 100% read Dragonfly Falling. The way it expands the scope of the world, the story, the lore, the politicking, war etc. It introduces some of thr strongest elements in the series so far. Really excited to see where it goes

Licanius Trilogy's big problem (to me) was simply that Islington had SO many good ideas and interesting concepts, and he just crammed them all into one trilogy. So it left a lot of the cool stuff feeling unexplored. The writing, plot, etc. were all really good. I was worried he spent all his great ideas on one series, but The Will of the Many dispelled that worry easily haha.

China Miéville. Really great writer. Dense prose (not sure about "frustrating" - he uses rare words and as many adjectives and adverbs as a French writer), very dark and moody, subversive of the genre a bit, fairly political with a clear marxist/atheist bent, often associated to New Weird movement. Not entirely sure it's really a good fit for your tastes (it's an author often recommended to fans of Erikson and Bakker), but you lose nothing trying him. It's barely a true trilogy, so you can stop after one if you hate it. It's pretty much three stand alone in the same universe, with very very lose ties.

I’m so happy you plan to Read Empire Of Silence by Christopher Ruocchio but worries me when you say you expect it to be one of your favorite series of all time, might want to relax there after you did that with Red Rising and it made you not love it as much because of your expectations..you really let me down on your red rising opinion, just don’t want you doing that with Sun Eater as well..

Whilsy i enjoyed Speaking Bones (the ending of a few plotlines and charavter brought me to tears as a mid 20 grown ass dude) bcs i didnt like the character and agenda of Jia - which is heavily pushed in this series, it knocked down the impact for me. But a solid end to a great world and story.

I have read the entire Riftwar Saga (20 books?) by Raymond Feist and I would warn you that over the entire length of the series the quality is uneven. I really enjoyed the first 8-10 books, but after that (in my opinion) the continuing story was forced, a lot longer than needed, ridiculous plot points, character arcs introduced that didn't really go anywhere, etc. Over those first 10 books though, the character development is good, the world building is great, and while spanning a fairly long timeframe, everything is solidly connected.
