60 Minutes, the most successful American television broadcast in history, began its 52nd season in September. Offering hard-hitting investigative reports, interviews, feature segments and profiles of people in the news, the broadcast began in 1968 is still a hit in 2020. 60 Minutes makes Nielsen’s weekly Top 10 nearly every week and was the #1 weekly television broadcast three times last season.
The program still averages more than 10 million viewers, more than double the audience of its nearest network news magazine competitor. The average audience for a 60 Minutes broadcast is 150% higher than those of the network morning news programs; the audience dwarfs the number of viewers drawn by the most popular cable news programs.
About a million more people listen to the 60 Minutes radio simulcast in several major cities and on its companion podcast. Tens of thousands each week experience 60 Minutes online. The broadcast’s segments can be watched at 60Minutes.com and on the CBS All Access app. Its webcast, 60MinutesOvertime.com, offers content originally produced for the web, including behind-the-scenes video about the production of 60 Minutes stories and timely archival segments.
60 Minutes has won every major broadcast award. Its 25 Peabody and 150 Emmy awards are the most won by any single news program. It has also won 20 duPont-Columbia University journalism awards. Other distinguished journalism honors won multiple times include the George Polk, RTDNA Edward R. Murrow, Investigative Reporters and Editors, RFK Journalism, Sigma Delta Chi and Gerald Loeb awards.
60 Minutes premiered on CBS September 24, 1968. Bill Owens is the program’s executive producer. The correspondents and contributors of 60 Minutes are Sharyn Alfonsi, Anderson Cooper, John Dickerson, Norah O’Donnell, Scott Pelley, Lesley Stahl, Bill Whitaker and L. Jon Wertheim.

I want to make sure that people remember this. Right after being fired from The tonight show, Conan kept paying his employees OUT OF POCKET regardless of having a show or not.When you see people like Andy, Sona, Jordan and others stick around for ages, some moving from the east to the west coast to follow him, it shows what kind of man Conan is.

I wouldn't expect the Team Coco channel, or "Conan O'Brien needs a friend" podcast going away anytime soon. With "Conan Must Go" coming out sometimes soon on Max. The trailer for the new series actually dropped on the Coco channel a full hour before the Max trailer dropped. That sounds like a business decision and a creative one. To make sure his company, and his people are at the forefront. So nothing like that happened with NBC can happen again. I only half-jokingly say this, but Comrade Conan is all about supporting, and protecting his workers.

I'm realizing how important it is to be conscious of how broken you're feeling at a significant low point in your life, asking yourself what are you going to do about it, doing the thing you've decided to do, being able to adapt, and putting in the work to make it out to the other side of it all, giving yourself an outlet, with support of your friends and family...and being able to laugh at some of it too. It actually sad to see how much you can tell it really hurt him, Conan to me is the greatest late night host ever and that’s just me I have no problems with anyone who says letterman or Carson they were a bit before my time I was born in 96 but to this day it’ll forever be a tragedy that Conan was never given the the support from nbc to be the next letterman in terms of national popularity cause he was beyond talented enough to do it and still is better than any current late night host. I’ll never to this day understand that.

Conan has blamed everybody but himself for the whole TS debacle. He was asked to change his routine up to reach a broader audience. He refused. Yes, Conan had the young audience, but that isn't enough to be host of TTS. You have to reach everybody. He didn't. Plus Conan fans love Letterman as well... and that's who they watched because Conan was getting his a** kicked by Letterman. That's not NBC's fault. That's all on Conan.

His podcast and upcoming streaming program puts him at the top of the “late night but also whatever time you feel like watching talk-comedy show” universe. His legacy was very visible during this year’s Emmy’s. In the end, today’s late night hosts will mention conan along with Parr, Allen, Carson, and letterman as influences, and I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone mention Leno….that’s a the most important win that conan got.

He could've walked away with his $32m pay-out, but instead he paid the show's staff in full until he could figure things out. There's close to 200 people. They wouldve been let go. Some had moved cross country. Wage bill would've easily topped $12-14m before benefits, plus the lawyers cut. Conan is a legend for how he handled it.
@billyeveryteen7328
@billyeveryteen7328 2 года назад
There's a reason his staff has worked for him for nearly thirty years, and like you pointed out, were willing to move across the country to keep working for him. People like Andres Du Bouchet or Jordan Schlansky would have had absolutely no problem finding a new job at a network TV show after Conan left Late Night, but they not only uprooted their lives and moved from NYC to LA (which I don't think people realize how massive a lifestyle change is involved in a move like that), but stuck around with Conan even when their futures were uncertain.

Fox has even admitted that what they were given didn't provide anything worth their time. It's also questionable that the computer even belongs to Hunter. I mean, why wouldn't he want it back? He's a lawyer, why wouldn't he sue the computer repair man or Giuliani for taking his property without his permission? Why was the laptop given to Rudy freaking Giuliani at all instead of the FBI or local law enforcement? As with most conspiracy theories, none of it makes any sense.
