The 60's was the golden era for dances ''The Locomotion'' ''The Twist'' ''The Watusi'', and now from my favourite Addams Family character Lurch with ''The Lurch'' this is pure fun, hope you like what I have put together.
I played in a youth basketball league with Ted Cassidy’s son and boy he was tall. It was at Rustic Canyon park in Pacific palisades, Ca late 60s ❤️ where have all the good times gone?
I'm 58, and remember and loved the Adams Family. It came on after the Flintstones. I loved them both and never knew the Adams Family was on in the 60's. Never knew there was a dance either. Thanks for the memories!!
Meeeee tooooo!!!!! Lurch was my most favorite actor and person when he was on TV with the Adam's Family. 🤣🤣😄😄😃😃😅😂 Lurch was the main character and made the Adam's family a hit show!!!!!!!! Wonderfullllllllll!!!!!!!! 😃😆🤩😍🤗😊Morticia was my favorite as well and always said wonderfulllllllll just like Matt hardy Jeff's brother said that 😍😅😅😅😄😄😂🤣😃🥰
Ted did " The Lurch " as part of the Halloween 1965 Shindig show & co-starred with Boris Karloff. It was a novelty song that was meant to be a parody of the 1960s fad dances.
I remember seeing him in ''McKenna's Gold'' with Gregory Peck and Omar Sharif and Telly Savalas as one of the Indians protecting the gold they were trying to take, great movie
Ted Cassidy is the coolest man back in the day since he was lurch on the tv he was 6'9" in person and he was talented and well dressed as Lurch from the Addams Family tv series
Ted went on tour with "the Lurch" and when he came through my hometown to appear on local TV, the TV station put out a call for local girls who knew how to do the Lurch (or could learn in a hurry) to come to the station and be background dancers for Ted (Lurch). Two girls from our neighborhood, older sisters of friends of mine, went downtown to the station and actually got on TV that afternoon doing the Lurch behind Ted ... Debbie Ferris and Dolores Tartaglia. Two teenage girls from our neighborhood actually got on TV with Ted Cassidy ... Lurching it up!
@@dannycrockett9878 Yes, very much. One day, Dolores's brother Danny said "Wanna see something amazing?" We snuck upstairs (his house), opened the door of Dolores's bedroom, and I *was* amazed to see that all four walls of her bedroom were literally papered over with magazine pictures of George Harrison. (That was at the height of Beatle-mania, of course!)
When I was a tot in the early 1970s, I was so afraid of Lurch. My brother bought the 45 record of this song and would play it and scaring the hell out of me.
My godbrothers mom used to teasingly greet me saying hi lurch because im tall like my dad and i would reply hey Pugsley aren't you supposed to be killing cough cough i mean playing with Wednesday.
@@hewgrebe4771 It was his voice, but he lowered it for the Lurch character, it was part of the act. It's not how he spoke to everybody else outside of the show.
Charles...you have done the legacy of The Addams Family proud!!! As a child of the '60's, this brings back a happy time in my life..I can't get this silly grin off my face!!
wow thanks Mark, really appreciate the comment, was just trying to capture the whole ''kookie'' fun of the moment loved The Addams family, grew up watching the series in the early 70's ''Lurch'' was my favourite, thank you so much!!!! All the best!!!

I saw somewhere Lurch had one of them small type Plymouths Barracudas 65 to like 69. He had front seats took out & he drove it from back seat as his own personal car. Been where he grow up countless times. I heard he was pretty good Basketball & Football Player too. That put him through collage!! on a Basketball Sponsorship. And academically very gifted in the 3rd grade @ age 6. Highschool freshman @ age 11!!! He was no big & dumb person. He gave WFAA radio in studio report's out of Dallas day JFK got shot & killed & 1 of the 1st reporters to interview eyewitnesses The Newman Family a other fact about him. Now he was a Pop Star..
thank you dntlss very much appreciated, the hardest part was trying to get the lip synch believe it or not had the idea in my head for the vid, for around 11 months and 27 minutes to put it all together, just had a lot of fun doing the video, always loved the wacky kooky Addams Family since I was 11 so thanks to todays technology on hand, all made on a video editing pad, start to finish, all the very best!!!!
When you're big and tall, that kind of swaying is the easiest dance you can do. Lets the weight of your limbs do the work for you. That's why this is so brilliant.
@@frances6827 yep :D "The Lurch” Following that episode Gary Paxton of Capitol Records wrote the “The Lurch” to be a Lurch inspired dance. Ted Cassidy stared as the lead singer and he introduced the dance and performed the song “The Lurch” on September 11, 1965, on the TV show “Shivaree!” He then did it again on “Shindig!” An ABC production aired the song and dance as a Halloween special on October 30th, 1965. Lurch was a star again, but it did not stick as a fad, just as a fun novelty."
*I love Lurch. But, listening to him actually talk, like that.. I'll admit, it kind of creeped me out. I adore The Addams Family. They are my favorite older TV show. Have them on DVD*
I met him on a tour. It was weird. He was in a trailer, and kids lined up outside, we were ushered in one end, he shook our hands, someone else handed us an autographed photo, and we were ushered out the other end. It cost five or ten dollars, which was a lot back then.
very interesting -- never heard of this song or dance and hardly watched the Adams Family but I like this and danced like this so I guess I was lurching 😄.
I never saw this before. I almost wish I hadn't. lol. It's like a strange dream where Lurch and Martha Reeves & the Vandellas collaborated to come up with this! ;)
Would of been good to have seen Lurch dancing hand they thought of it. The Adams family one the better 1960's TV shows, should have lasted another few seasons beyond 1966.
