After tackling Mr. Plow, I ended up re-watching Season 2 on DVD as a change of pace. It's interesting looking at Mr. Plow and Three Men and a Comic Book side by side, to see how stylistically they changed their plot and joke construction over the course of two seasons.
It is the "free 6 seconds rule" (actually 6.28 ; but that is a secret). As long as any segment of any episode has a SEVERE discontinuity [the exact "minimum" ammount of "anything else" in seconds varies day to day thanks to Artificial Inteligence "Fuzzy Logic"]; you could manage to avoid the bots taking it (they stil notice single frames, so if you abuse it too much it may not work).
I adore your channel, thank you for taking such a passionate approach to all of this. You're breathing new Life into what most people call a dead series. It's made me go back and look at as much free Simpsons footage as possible. But I'll probably break down and get the DVDs just to follow alongside you better. I enjoy your other content as well but it'd be a lie to say I subscribed for that. Your Love and detail explanation makes me feel more connected than when I used to watch them 6 times a day... Man I miss the 90s but you're a great booster shot of it. Many Blessings upon you and all who help you put out all these great videos
Man, this episode brings back so many memories. I was 5 or 6 when it premiered. I remember being really upset at the ending, oh all that hard work wasted.
I remember watching this episode recently (it was a favourite of mine when watching as a kid), and after having been to my first real “geek” convention (Armageddon Expo) they NAILED the feel of being at a place like that in this episode, even 20+ years ago. The atmosphere in the later part of this episode is really well done, with the dramatic angles (Comic Book Guy closing the door) and lighting (the kids reading the comic by candlelight). It’s kind of a shame the show looks so... bland and sterile nowadays. And it’s not like you can’t make a good-looking show with atmosphere using modern digital tools (Gravity Falls and Steven Universe are great examples of this), it’s they choose not to nowadays, and that kinda sucks. I also remember that Bongo Comics published REAL Radioactive Man comics (Including #1, though it was very different from the one seen in this episode), each as a broad spoof of trends in superhero fiction over the decades.
i dont know if its on purpose by youtube or not but usually i only get the notification for your longer videos and have to seek out the 60 second reviews myself
This may sound terrible, but I be been a Simpsons fan for about three years. I've already collected seasons 4-9 on DVD, but I had never heard of this episode until now. No clue why, I had just never heard of it. Is that bad? I think that's pretty bad.
David Johnson Go and watch all of seasons 2 and 3 now, they're great, way better than seasons like 9 (which I still love) . Even season 1 is underrated but not for everyone.
NITRO SHERBERT I can understand that being said for season 1 because it took me a while to get into it, but season 2 is really great, how can anyone dislike it?
