Ive switched to watercolors to try and "simplify" my art. I find I get caught up in the details trying to create something when I need to learn the tricks to make it look like something with little effort. Lessons like this are helping.

This is so great - simple technique used to great effect. Of course I know mine wouldn't look as good since I'm still developing my "art eye" as well as my art eye-hand coordination (like where to stipple for best shadow effect) but this looks like a great exercise to practice!

May I ask what paints are you using?... 'natural' brown 'natural' grey, ect... I'm not familiar. I love the vibrancy!

What kind of paints are you using? I tried this but my black wasn't as black and when I mixed the two colors on my brush they just blended together. I love this and want to duplicate it very much!

I've been trying to recreate this all day, but my branches always wind up as nasty, messy black swirls in the foliage! How do you stop this from happening?

Can I ask if painting and drawing comes naturally, or born with such a gift to paint? I only ask cause people are learning how to paint sing and play instruments on you tube and are getting quite great along with spray painting (my fav) but, my lungs prevent me from getting better or at least good. I love it, but my allergies and lungs no good. I love love to mix and textures and I use anything but brushes or I found a few makeup brushes ...
