Swaping over my Dads 62 chevy body onto a 4x4 frame Showing whats going on with the fire trucks and what to expect for them! and finally breaking down what were going to do with the 1949 White Tow Truck!
You've got some neat projects going on! For the White tow truck, I wonder how a Cummins 4BT-3.9 turbo diesel would fit (6BT may be a bit long)? A Detroit 4-53 (w/ turbo) would be great also; noisy, but what a great sound they make! As an oddball suggestion, maybe a GMC "big block" V-6, like the 478 cu. in.? As for the B-21, glad to see they're getting some TLC...As for sirens, they may have used the B & M-type (they weren't Federal "Qs", which came along later); the lights, at least from what I recall when they were in service, had a 2-light red "gumball machine" (rounded top) atop the cab. Neat that the horn works! Thanks for the updates!
6v53 TT for the White if you're doing a Detroit, bonus points if you can find jakes for it too. For the Macks, I would go restomod and pull the engines and replace them with something less rare.
I don't think you'll have any problem selling that slant six. I've seen a few with a header, cam and larger carb that were put into stock cars in the 60's and 70's. Not too many restrictions in the old day LOL. They turned on pretty well. When you started it up it brought back some memories of sitting in the stands, sipping a cold one and swatting mosquitos Good times had by all.
the dogs a bulldog :) its a signature for mack, lil neat fact if it has a golden bulldog its a all mack truck, bulletproof mack engine an tranny if its a silver dog then it has either a cummins or caterpillar engine
I'll sell ya a 4-71 Detroit, its a non turbo power unit engine that was adapted to a truck motor some time ago, it runs beautifully but its old and it smokes
should be 2 switches on the captains side (pass side) one is for the horn an other for the siren, reason they did that is so the captain or whoever is highest rank in charge controls them an helps watch for traffic an obsticals an so on so the drivers job is to just concentrate on gettin to the call quickly but safely
if ya do detroit go with a 353, 371 or 471, thel fit, if cummins a 4bt or older 6bt, if ya do a perkins i actaully have a 6.354 in my 1969 ford f350 that im selling
Temp sensor for the gauge is bad or maybe the wiring for it since you said there's wiring issues, check that first before replacing the gauge, 99.9% of the time is either the sensor or the wiring never the gauge once it's the original one to the truck.
ya can git new brakes at napa to, least if its one of the cool older ones like i work at, just not right now with my back injury, but ya can git them ther i cant remember the part number off the top of my head right now though, ill have to go in next time an git em fer ya
@@Edward-Thaine I would rather have yours, but I don't think you're wanting to part with it. I would rather have one that I know that runs but I will look and see if I can find it. Thanks for letting me know this, have a great day and good morning to you
@@Edward-Thaine I looked it up and I believe that you have mistaken me for what I have asked you about. I need a 400 SBC . Good morning and enjoy your day today!
@@johnelliott7375 oh! My bad, these hall scotts are a series 400 engine so I got confused. The 400sbc is for sale, we have snagged some of the parts off it though.
