Great set and awesome review. Have been looking for a good upgrade from my tin t3 plus.. really confused between olina se, Galileo, hexa and some other models.. looking for good seperation, improvement in details while not loosing the great soundstage of the t3+ ... I've always been interested in the 64 Audio gear. Had my eye on a used Trio for a while, but the price, even on the used market is so far above the 500-600ish price tag I've set for myself. The MEST MK2 is what I have contemplated if I wanted to go above said price point. How would these compare to the MEST for someone who likes punchy bass? 🤔

They have different strengths. Been a while since I heard MEST, but from memory it has more accentuated imaging, but a slightly artificial sound. U4s has a stronger sense of body behind its bass.

I’d love to know how this compares with the Symphonium Meteor? I was just about to buy the Meteor and saw this had just been released so now I’m holding off. I know they compete in different price brackets but I wonder if they sound pretty close factoring in diminishing returns etc?

ive heard both, the meteor is very smooth but has extremely good bass and treble. u4s is more intense imo but at the same time more impactful.

Yeah they are similar. I think U4s is better overall, but Meteor has a more unique charm to it. More physicality behind U4s.

Can you compare U4s vs Symphonium Audio Meteor. Graphs look almost the same. Also single bore internal design. Meteor has the same driver count with beautiful sound and note thickness + excellent treble extension.

They are similar. I'd say Meteor has even less defined instrument separation and the bass is more dominant and less bouncy.

I got a pair of andromeda 2020's not too long ago, and I'm finding them thin (which ofc is expected from them lol). However, I really like how clear the details and separation is with that pair. Paring the U4S with a pure silver cable it´s the perfect synergy for vocals 👌 M15 module pure silver cable , it pushes the mids a bit forward and helps in separation and imaging

@@SuperReview Yeah, they've said that they tuned all their iems with those tips, and for me i find those to have the best sound to my ears with the U12t, and deeper, while not really secure fit. I use JVC spiral dots now which sit in pretty much the same spot. But ear moisture and tia driver on the nozzle kinda sus.....

Deeper, meaning a good seal, is critical for these. Spinfits or Final Es seem to do the trick😊

They are quite opposites, but I think the U4s is easier to live with. Gaea is pretty intense to daily.

No, wired IEMs like this rarely have ANC. They block out sound passively.

Just compared this to the Aful Performer 5 with a 15ohm impedance adapter measurement on your squig link and they graph very very similar... interesting, I will be trying it out once my Performer 5 arrives. Great review, too expensive for me though for just 4 drivers. My most expensive one right now is Variations. I don't know how much upgrade that would be to the U4s... I think I would rather save up and go full on flagship even if it is $2k or more...

Price doesn't necessarily correlate to quality, $2k doesn't mean it's going to be better. The Variations is already competing with these kilobuck and multi-kilobuck sets IMO, it's more a matter of preferences and tradeoffs moving up from the Variations. It's already one of the best IEMs you can get, and more expensive stuff may be better at one or other thing but likewise Variations may be better at others. The tuning on this is quite different from the Variations, it has a load more mid-bass, and less upper mids. So it's going to sound quite different, but not unequivocally "better".

Anything above $600-$700 you are paying for a specific sound, not always accurate sound reproduction, all these 1.5k+ IEMs are a no go for me personally due to this exact reason. With that money you can build a pretty nice home theater audio setup.

You miss the point. Equatiing drivers to.sound quality is an error. The real question is what sounds better? How does it sound better? Be precise. Tell us what music, what soundstage, what instrument separation. Describe what you are hearing. Otherwise its like equating horsepower to performance.

I also find the Kiwiears Orchestra lite has very similarly shaped upper mids (just a higher level) plus the highs look pretty similar too. The bass shelf on the orchestra lite is more like the stock P5, but EQing either to sound more like the 64audio (with or without the adapter) isn't that hard and the results are pretty great. The only additional tweak I did was remove the 3k dip, to make the mids more like Studio4. I'm sure there are technical differences, the U4S has a DD for one but on a pure resolution level they shouldn't be extremely far off. So if this IEM looks interesting but you can't afford over $1k then Orchestra like could be a great alternative along with P5.

The U4s seems to be a tough sell for 64 Audio. There are a number of great multiBA sets out there at less than $1,000.

How do those multi BA sets conpare to this Tribrid set？Have you listened to these other sets? What music did you play, with what source? Some multi BA set, at whatever price point, needs to be tuned perfectly to out execute this excellently tuned set. Be precise.

@@JeffJacquesmd I completely missed that the U4s contains a DD. Still a tough sell, though. My modest IEM collection includes the all-BA Moondrop S8, the Thieaudio Monarch tribrid, the DD Sennheiser IE600, and the Tangzu Ze Tian Wu Heyday planar. All of these come in at less than $800, and, with the possible exception of the Heyday, I don’t think I would trade any of them for the U4s based strictly on reviews and technical specs (I haven’t heard the U4s). My source is an Astell & Kern SE180 with all of the available dac modules (ES9038PRO, AK4497EQ x 2,, ES9038Q2M x 4, AK4493SEQ x 2). I listen primarily to metal and rock.

So i was right. After 2 weeks with the u4s, i finally sold them. They are nowhere near the Monarchs 2. These are on a completely different level. The Monarchs play in the u12t league, with just different tuning where the u4s are just fun, basshead iems but definitely less detailed and sophisticated. The u4s also sound less natural and realistic. Great for 600-900 bucks but they dont compete with top dogs.

@@SuperReviewThat's true, not being able to resell or lend to another person is a big point against going custom. On the other hand, the ideal fit from the custom would solve the issue of finding a tip that provides good support to the IEM.

A fool and his $ are soon parted. If the target is great sound then put that money toward a nice 2.1 system and if you don’t have the room get a nice pair of open-backed headphones and a dac… so easy to do this well for under $500.

Hey, fine if you don't see the value in spending this amount on an IEM, I suggest not describing people who do as fools. Most people not in the audio hobby think it's silly to spend more than $30 on earphones. Not everyone has the same values and means.

@@SuperReview I am an audiophile and love the sound hobby. I also love your reviews. However there is not enough tech or development costs to warrant any iem costing more than $150. I am always on the hunt for great sound and it needs to have real value and if possible stand the test of time. Quality speakers, amps, preamps and even over-ear headphones can often last a “lifetime” and be passed on to others. Maybe I am just a different kind of audio hobbyist. I apologize if my use of an old albeit harsh yet succinct phrase offended anyone.

I just autoeqd my s12pro to this in the squig and it seems to be a very similar freq response, just having 2k to 10k a little toned down, which it can get pretty spicy on the s12 after a while...

@@SuperReview Hi, I mean, thanks to you and others we have this very large data base. Just go in there in search for an IEM with similar frequency response. The Truthear Hola is very close, as well as the Tangzu Wan'er. Also the a bit more expensive Kato is quite similar, offering a phantastic accessories package of great cable and nice box, besides the extremely beautiful shell and high comfort.

I've listened to u12t and mmk2 and I much prefer u12t for sound and comfort tbh Edit: blorg's reply is a bit more sensible than mine, u12t just aligns with my preference more. To my ears and brain, it wowed me more with its imaging and technicalities than the mmk2 which just sounded like a more detailed version of my thieaudio legacy 3s

I think he went over the differences quite well, Monarch Mk2 is leaner, this is fuller. So there's preference there as to which you prefer, I like the MMk2 personally and would probably pick it if I had to pick only one but many find that style tuning quite lean. One the best things about MRS's reviews that he can explain these differences beyond/despite personal tonal preference.

There is not a single decent IEM of 64 audio, many have high level of distortion and strange frequency response, not talking about their absurdly high prices, but there is a sucker born every day and many gullible people with money.
