how to simply dial in your speedometer to whatever size you're running. easy calibration. Shoutout to TITTLE DIESEL PERFORMANCE LLC for being the ONLY place I found anything about this online. Thank you for answering my questions.
Great video. You did a great job explaining and researching everything. Will do mine today, it was set just like yours. If you fine tune yours, please do another video. I’m not tech savvy but I can follow directions, us old people appreciate people like you. Thank you.
Yeah it was bound to happen, you pushed it to the front. Lol. I never pass up a chance to humble, or be humbled. It's still flying pretty good for a utility machine, but c'mon man, ya gotta earn it.
Thanks man. That's what it's all about. I think these are a great value but, the manufacturer support is a joke! Even their online website for parts, half the stuff you can't even see a picture of what you're looking at. As I learn I'll share. It's crazy how this isn't in any manual, even the thick service manual. So many machines out there with faulty speedos
Sir you are in fact my hero and have saved the day. Couldn't go with the exact circumference on my 400nk naked motorcycle but you gave me the framework to actually narrow it down and after four to five fails worked miraculously!!! Thank you soooo much! Mine read 360km/h after fiddling with it the wrong way. Then to low and now close enough to my phone gps ❤
just completed the speedo recalibration on my 2020 UForce 1000. Worked just like you said and following your video was very easy to do. Thank you so much for this much needed information. I am sending my ECU into Main Street Cycle for a flash to add sport and eco mode to the 1000. It is supposed to fix the low speed jerky movement of the throttle as well.
Thank you for a great video. I have a ZForce 800 Trail and just today I was in town riding by the school and they have the radar thing that flashes your speed. The sign said I was going 15 and my speedo said 20. I need to look into this more.
Thank you for posting this and explaining very well. I have the CFMoto Papio and it told me it was going 77mph on the interstate, yet my friends with much bigger bikes came up on me. They told me that I wasn't going anywhere near as fast as I thought. I checked it with my phone GPS and sure enough, I was 6 to 8 mph off at every speed.
@@ironheadbiker I just got into mine and did and changed it to what my calculations (that I hope are right) said. The only difference on mine was the layout was a little different. The big 3 on yours was a 2 on mine and there was another section that had a little spot that said 11c.
Thank you. I believe the process I use doesn't work on the 22's. They upgraded their display, but I also believe they are off none the same. I'm sure there is a way to do it, just different from mine.
@@ironheadbiker Thank you sir. I appreciate all the info. If you get any info or hear anything on the 2022 displays please let us know. Be safe and God Bless.
@@frankie-3598 Let us know if you figure out how to calibrate your speedometer on your 2022 uforce. I still have not seen any way to do it. When my speedometer is showing 63 my gps is showing 55mph. That is quite a difference.
Thanks for the info! Just bought a uforce 1000 this weekend and love all your videos on it. I was starting to wonder if the speedo was accurate when I could get it up around 85mph I started to question it
Congrats on the purchase! I love mine too! I appreciate the kind words! I was taking trips on mine and I was like, Jesus, I didn't put that many miles on. Plus the speed, it's funny because in a utility machine it feels like you're going 80 plus mph, but I kind knew it was off . It's funny how easy it is to correct, yet no dealer, or owner has posted anything. Except tht 30 second video I saw tht was pretty confusing. I still believe they're the best deal by far, they just need a little American "bullshit callers" to keep em honest. Lol
Thank you, sir. Funny how even dealers don't do this out of the crate as their set up. Of course not doing this speeds up the service intervals, so they can do more of them and more often.
That sounds right. I was stupid and didn't record my factory setting but it was way off. I over corrected in my video and feel that the decimal point probably isn't needed. It just amazed me how easy it is and yet the dealers don't do it in their setup/ prep
You'll love it. Watch a few of mine on things like taking off the hood. Those 4 hidden grease zerks, and I'd order the uni air filter ($23) on Amazon. That stock one is kinda garbage. I also added a rear view mirror up above my head. I love the side mirrors, but the rear is nice also.
Great video, thank you! One thing to keep in mind is that you might want to actually measure your tire, sometimes they are a little different than what they state. 27" might not actually be 27"...
You're exactly right. When I adjusted it for mine, it went a little far, but I figured that would offset it being off for the first 100 miles it was wrong. I tell guys don't go as far as I did. I forget the numbers, but I tell them don't worry about the decimal points, it ain't that precise anyways. What drove me to find this was so many guys claiming these things were doing 75mph.
Thank you for this, this was really good information. I wonder if I should try to calibrate my Cforce 520 doing this with my 27" tires on. Just wonder if I can use the numbers you had written down here.
Yeah I'd turn it on and see what the number is. I was thinking of you when I thought what the number would read if I had mine set to kmh. It'd be easy enough to check using the chart I provided. You can always change it back, and I'm pretty sure the number after the decimal point isn't very important, that's really doing some fine tuning. I'd just note your original number 1st. But yeah, it's very useful, and I'm surprised the dealers aren't even aware of it.
@@ironheadbiker Cool that you did think about me when you made this video 😊 What was that tool you used to show the speed, just a ordinary gps-unit or? I think I should try using my phone as gps-unit to check the speed, maybe mount it somehow so I can see. And when I do this, I will probably make a video-answer to you.. like mention you in the video. And doing this will make your atv/utv actually do less mileage and and we doesn't need to do the service as often as we do now. You know the service costs here in Norway can easily be $400 or even more each time.
Yeh exactly. The service intervals, resale mileage. You bet, that's all off. My GPS is a Garmin Diesel, that i use at work. But I think your phone GPS should be fine, I've used both, but I use my phone to film so I hooked up this one quick.
@@ironheadbiker That is true, the resale value have a lot to say about this, if it show way off (and it probably do on all machines) A friend of mine just said I could check the speed by the road where we have a speed-reader for traffic. So I am actually thinking about it + also record the speed with my gps on the phone. But it's a bit cold to drive out now, but I'm really considering doing it today or something. And I will be using my helmet-cam to record the difference.
I saw you got the snow i said you would the day you took your plow off, haha. Happens here too, 2 weeks ago I was working in Kansas city and they got 5" of snow. I'll be waiting for the video once you post it. Remember that it will do it throughout the speed band. It might be off only 1-3kph at 10, maybe 3-6 at 20kph, and 7-10 at 30kph. It grows exponentially the faster you go. But i like that idea of using the radar, then you can concentrate on keeping the same speed, which can be a little tricky with belt driven machines.
Nice nice work!!! Looks like all steps in the scientific method were followed to a “T”. I would expect nothing less of you my friend. Your videos have been a real help. The mechanic at my dealership wishes he watched your hood release video as he broke the front clip on one of their models the first time he tried to remove it. I told him about your videos haha. Any advice on your initial break-in driving behaviors would be helpful as well. Did you follow the manuals recommendations etc as your machine seems to be doing well. 👍🏻👍🏻 Thanks
Thanks for the nice words! My mechanic only bent mine, as I found out once I figured out how to take the hood off reverse engineering a picture of one still in the crate. I zoomed in and could see the push grommets. To your mechanic's defense, I have the service manual and they say nothing about how to remove the hood, or calibrate the speedo, or where the hidden grease zerks are. Now on the break in thing. This is only my opinion, but on many of my vehicles, including this one, I break them in as I intend to use them. With the belt drive machines, (this is my 2nd one, my other a 2011 ranger crew I put 5,000 miles on and no issues, original belt even) I ride around in low range, holding it at a set speed, then a little faster, and a little faster, just holding it a 5-10 secs at each speed. Then high range, pretty much the same, just not as much low speed. My Harley I rode it right away like I'd always ride it, pretty fast, and mile one from the dealer, (I put 100,000 miles on that machine). But I don't do deep mud and water riding. I try to do my own service, so I know it gets done, but also so I learn my machine. I bought an upgraded UNI air filter, as I believe the air filter stock is pretty bad, and these things eat dust stock due to the location of the intakes, I might do a homemade "snorkel kit just to get the breathers up about the swirling dust created by the rear tires and back of cab. I think the mud riding, as so many to, is fun, but what it does to the radiators, clogging and coating the fins and tubes with baked on mud, can really do damage fast, just like getting dust in a motor. I like to trail ride with friends or my dogs, and do work around the house. I'm just to cheap to take a $13,000 machine out and beat on it. I'll work it hard, it's just so tough getting everything cleaned properly once you're done. I did it in my teens and 20s, but machines were simpler, and I think my new '89 quad sport was $2,100. As I find things I believe help people I'll post them. I'm still working the bugs out of my doors and changing the designs to make it better. My largest complaint about cfmoto is the lack of "support " from the manufacturer. We kinda get the "alone in a desert island feeling" but sticking together and sharing ideas sure makes it better! Thanks again
Thanks for awesome vid! I tried it on my 2019 but can’t seem to get that screen up. It only takes me to the normal clock and mph change screen, any idea if they are all the same? Thanks again for all your awesome content!
Thanks and I'm not sure if it works for 2019, there are so many different dash clusters out just by cfmoto. They changed them again for the 2022's. But I'm sure they all have a secret trick to get to the adjustment.
@@ironheadbiker Hello I am admin on a lot of the Cfmoto pages and the Pennsylvania Cfmoto page is mine that I started myself in spring of 2016 to help others learn about Cfmoto.. On the older models I knew how to adjust speedometer but on the newer owns , I've followed your video and no luck on my Zforce 950 or 2021 Cforce 500s... Not sure if there is a way to change it or not
Thanks for posting this! I just got off the phone with Tittle DIesel Performance and the guy said he never workd on a CFMOTO machine and had no idea what I was talking about. Do you know if this will work with CFMOTO motorcycles? Can you share your source or check with them? Mine is currently at the dealer who doesn't know if it will work or not.
I think it only works with this style speedo. BUT I believe every speedo has it's own "trick" to get to that screen. It's just impossible to figure out sometimes.
@@ironheadbiker thanks for the reply. Doppelganger Alert!! There's a TITTLE DIESEL PERFORMANCE LLC in Maryland and a TITTLE DIESEL PERFORMANCE LLC in West Virginia!!
What year is your uforce? Mine is a 2023, the dash is different and when I tried these steps you showed I get nothing, is there any where you can suggest where to find info about the newer dash displays and how to access the same info if possible??
Yeah I'm miss my 2011 ranger crew. Getting to the point with all of these machines that I don't use them enough to warrant the obscene money they want for them.
@@ironheadbiker we paid $16,200 , delivered to our home, we don't ride much for 2 reasons, 1, we have other priorities and living in florida,, it's too damn hot to enjoy riding during summer,
Yeah exactly. I wanted a can am defender pro, but the price was almost $10k more. And that was bare bones. My ranger crew 800 was $11k with the upgraded 14" aluminum wheels and Maxxis Bighorn tires. Other friends have Polaris Northstar edition that was $33k, only a 6 mo warranty, and it was in the shop after his 1st month. I'd be so sick I'd cry.
@@ironheadbiker we got all the bells available at the time on ours, plus a 4 year warranty that we paid extra for,, i don't recall what it cost,, we paid cash so we got free helmets, goggles, gas cans, free delivery and discount maintenance for life,, but the dealer has since changed hands, so we take someplace for servicing, we don't beat it or ride crazy, it would be no fun to have to walk back to my truck and find someone to help get my machine out,, nope,,
Yeah, that's what I said, you're adding 15-16% fake miles towards your service intervals. The one guy hit 8,000 miles on his machine before he calibrated it. So he actually only had 6,700 miles on the machine.
It's been awesome. I actually just sold it today and bought a new one, but the z950 Ho Ex. I didn't use it enough around my house, because my tractor does all the work and I wanted a sportier machine. Never had a single issue with the uforce1000
Well my 2019 uforce 1000 wont adjust has the same speedo just the warning lights are different is that why? key off hold select turn key on and clock starts flashing for adjustment??
Sadly its just with the specific speedo like mine, but I'm positive each speedo has their own sneaky way of getting to the settings, but it's a lot of trial an error trying to figure it out.
On the Facebook uforce owner's group, the admin , Glen Wilson (r.i.p. Sadly) had just passed 10,000 miles on his 2020. The 2022's have some nice upgrades, (new speedo, heated seats, work/ sport mode), and new color) but the price raised also.
No, but, when it comes to buying a used atv/utv I'm very, very, cautious. Watch 3 minutes of RU-vid to see what people put them thru. Do you know the seller? How many miles, or hours? What's your closest uforce dealer, and are they Knowledgeable on cfmoto. They're really starting to catch on, but even my dealer didn't know much about them, and I've had to do some figuring for myself, which is fine, but can be frustrating. As they grow in popularity, there'll be more wider variety and availability of parts and accessories. And with the upgrades in the 2022 models, it should lower the retail of the older models a little bit. They do have an obi reader pet, so you could scan it for any codes.
Sounds good. Keep in mind if you watched my speedometer video, if he didn't adjust the speedo, they're off by roughly 15%, which would mean he's actually only got 507km on it. Sounds like it's barely broken in.
Yeah I know they use different displays on different machines, so hopefully it works. I know other displays should be able to calibrate too, it's just comes down to how to get to the adjustment screen.
That's the diff lock speed over ride. When the front is locked in, (the rear are always locked) so you're in true 4x4 all wheels locked in, the machine limits your top speed or rpms for safety reasons. That switch will over ride, or turn off the limit so you can go faster but it's highly not recommended.
It’s in inch’s even if you are set to kms for the speed My 2021 uforce 1000 is set to the same as yours I’ll be changing it soon as well Thanks for the great video
Yep I found that out after the video and got feedback from some metric countries. I would guess the ideal for stock uforce 27" tires would be 86.0. I did the 84.8 and went just a mph or 2 too far, so I now show slow than I'm going, but close enough and it'll get my odometer back towards being accurate. I just added a few videos today, and tomorrow I'm tackling a turn signal project.
@@ironheadbiker signal lights are great We get them an a horn standard in Canada although we can’t drive on the road they sure make people look twice when they see them Good luck with the install can’t wait for the video
Good to hear! I bet there is a separate procedure for those other led screens. I see they're different on z-forces. I've seen some where it's the right button, but it has to be in trip display, not odometer and with the machine running. It be soooooo nice if cfmoto just TOLD the owners how to do it. You know, like a little bit of support?? It seems the atv's are accurate from the factory from the little bit of feedback I've received.
None so far. Been good, reliable, and a hard worker. Rode up in Northern Wisconsin last month with a Honda talon, can am turbo crew, and kawasaki teryx. Kept up great, and could haul all the coolers and beer and groceries on the way home. All machines did great, mine was about $6,000 cheaper than their cheapest one, which allowed me to buy a 16ft aluminum tandem trailer with the side atv ramps also! I'm a fan of all the machines, just not their price. Mine was $13,300 out the door. None of theirs had a winch. They had to add their roof.
There's apps you download on your phone that are accurate also. But yeah, they're off pretty good stock. I think the main issue is it adds miles to the machine falsely.
Yeah I think there must be a different procedure for those different instrument panels. Like I know the zforce is different too. Did you use a GPS to see if your speed is off? I just knew mine was because of the 75-80mph runs guys were posting, and mine did too but I thought it was off quite a bit. Which it was
It would have to have the same exact display. Cfmoto uses many different types. 1st thing is to find out if it's off. They all have some variation of holding buttons to access the calibration screen.
From what I gather, it's a setting to reset the odometer, not the trip, but the odometer, I'd leave it be. The 1 is revolutions on the crank for reading the rpm. I guess some have 2 readers so then it would be 2 per revolution.
@@ironheadbiker Great video! Somehow accidently reset my odometer when i calibrated the speedometer. Not sure how i did it. Only had 50 miles on it. Big 3 now reads 2. Any idea why??
No I'm not sure what sets or why that number can change. I heard it goes from 1-3. I'm trying to locate the book on all cfmoto speedometers to figure out how to adjust each style. They all come from China, so they're same family, just different order of operation. Gotta get tht one contract person who knows. As for now I'm still looking.
I know that number is for the rest of the odometer, but I don't know how or why a number 1-3 has anything to do with resetting the odometer. That's a pretty big deal to be able to reset one that easy. Not sure if the ecm stores the odometer on these.
I have asked my dealer about the steps to get into the settings on my 21 Uforce 800and they told me that is digital and can not be calibrated...I then asked CFMoto to provide the steps and they told me to take it to dealer - such a crock of crap to just be able to access the settings. They act like I am asking for the nuclear codes...
Good to know. Do they have a different speedometer cluster on them? It's the same with other machines like the zforce has a total separate display. The thing is, I know they all can do it, it's just finding or learning the "trick" to get to the screen.
