This has been an incredible series. The Norway landscape is incredible. Such a shame that the Newcastle-Stanvanger car ferry was abandoned a few years ago. Would have loved to do a road trip over there. On the road food, I’d say Norway definitely beats the UK. If the EV car review thing ever gets boring, there’s definitely a Muk Bang career for you :)

They used to have a ferry from Newcastle - Kristiansand - Gothenburg Topgear used this ferry once in their episodes many years ago

I guess it's not the same, but it just started up a ferry going between Eemshaven, Holland and Kristiansand, Norway from hollandnorwaylines. Would probably be cheaper to take a plane and rent a car for a road trip in Norway.

This trip was a great challenge. I know to me it makes Oslo to Trondheim trips seem like a piece of cake. Even though it might not be the best in efficiency, it can still have plenty of good features to fit the need. Thanks MG for letting Bjorn show off the car in an epic way.

Excellent work!!! I watched the whole series and left the video just playing while I was working out, cooking and cleaning my house. I actually just ordered an MG ZS thanks to your videos! Unfortunately there is no EV version in my country 🇵🇭. I got the Manual 1.5L ZS. Excellent comfort, modern look, practical and it’s only $10,000! That’s three MG’s for the price of one Honda CR-V!

Milkman truck in Norway :) For those who remember Martin Schancke (6xEM Rallycross winner, 2nd up Pikes Peak in the US, finishing 2nd on 3 wheels where he lost one wheel after 2/3 of the track). He started his career as a young milk truck driver. Roumors says the milk was finished prosessed to cream and cheese when he arrived at the prosess factory :)

I LOVE your road trips Bjorn. Thank you so much for taking the time and making the effort involved to do them for us all. They are really great for people like me who would like to be going on such terrific journeys, but have no EV or the resources to do it. I am a 67 "Age Pensioner" saving up to buy, probably only a second hand Tesla and it will take me another 5 years to get even that together! Here in Australia Teslas are massively pricey, but hopefully I will get a used Model S for about AUS$40,000 in about 5 years. I truly cannot wait! Keep up the great work, buddy. You are wonderful and very funny sometimes. Actually quite a lot! I for one, really appreciate what you do, so thanks a million, mate!

Thanks for the good series of videos. Getting my ID.3 in September and I´m thinking about a tour to the "Lofoten" next year in late August. Maingoal is polar lights. Lots of info about charging infrastructure and quality of streets. I was in Norway long time ago. Very different. Biggest problem is to manage payment at charging station. Ionity is free, but to pay the others is difficult for a German. Nevertheless lots of infos and ideas. It looks like the E6 is a secure way. I think I´ll prefer hotels on the trip. Looking forward your ID.3 1000km challenge. ;-)

Very nice video's Bjørn! Really liked to watch the scenery and it's on our to do list. But going from Belgium It is 3030 something KM from our home to Nordkapp xD So that's a lot of driving. If I would do that with the ZS it will take us 50 and a half hour of driving+charging to get there according to abetterrouteplanner. But you did show you can do a road trip with this car :)

Great road trip video again, Bjorn. I was able to watch all three parts in one sitting. I was not bored at at all. Only one trivial question. In the trip legs detail, distance, average speed, energy is clear. But elevation. Is it elevation of starting point? end point or average? For Alvdal-Elverum leg it was -281m. What is below sea water?

It strikes me that the distance he is driving is similar to the distance between New York and St Paul, but with the curvy mountain roads, it takes a lot longer. In a Kona, I could do the US trip in only 19h driving, 5h charging. I have only been as far north is Trondheim myself - at the time, I had looked at the map, and it just seemed like an insanely long ride to go all the way. If he had continued on the E6 the whole way back, he would have driven right past the farm where my grandmother was born.

Hi Bjorn as a fellow mg owner I’m loving your videos and watching north cap episode 3 as I type this. I then thought as you’re camping in the MG and you lock the car from the inside I am certain that anyone outside would be able to open the car using keyless entry button on the door handle as your keys only need to be near the MG for this to work and you have them in the car with you? Have you tested security regarding this as I’m certain the car would open if some one presses the button.
@bjornnyland
@bjornnyland 4 года назад
I'm pretty sure it won't work. Think of a scenario where you lock the car in a dangerous downtown area. As long as you have locked it from the inside, no bad guys can unlock the car. It works like this for every car.
@usfouru2
@usfouru2 4 года назад
Bjørn Nyland I’ve also just realised as well that when camping you are in ‘ready’ mode and the high voltage battery is switched on giving you juice for aircon the led lights side lights do not go off and stay on the whole time. On my MG I can only seem to switch them to low output but not off when I’m ready mode which would get the attention of passers by?

What a underfunded landscapes. In June having a lot of snow on mountains. I notice between charging points you drove under 200 kms. Usually 160 to 180 kms. This car has a theoric range of 340 kms. If you take it a little far you could charge less times and wait less time. Am I wrong? Good work and thanks for your share.
@TraditionalAnglican
@TraditionalAnglican 4 года назад
Jose Cabral - According to MG, the MG ZS EV has a WLTP range of 163 miles/264 km. As real world range is ~3/4 that of WLTP, I don’t know where you could be getting that “theoretical range” of 340 km - mg.co.uk/mg-zs-electric/
@bjornnyland
@bjornnyland 4 года назад
That requires charging to 100 %. Charging to 80 % goes fast, and from there you're wasting time. And in order to get 300+ km, you have to drive slow.
@TraditionalAnglican
@TraditionalAnglican 4 года назад
Bjørn Nyland - Then one could ostensibly get 790 km/490 miles of range in a Tesla Model S LR by charging to 100% & Hypermiling... Just don’t know if I’d want to spend 11 hours trying to do that.

I was actually at the North Cape in May 2019, but by bicycle from Töre in Sweden. There was very little night then, and was actually too hot some days until the mountains at the end where my mud guards got full of snow and ice. Does anyone think studded tyres would be a good idea?
