Here's something very different from what I usually post!! I've wanted to make an earnest effort to get back into music and create something in the Gen III style for a long time, and I had an idea to create nighttime versions of some of the town/route themes. No idea which one I'll do next or when I'll do it, but this was a fun project. I also dumped this into the game and recorded it off of an actual GBA for authenticity!

I may dabble in this every now and then - what are more Hoenn themes that would be cool to have a night version? Also, I made this midi in Anvil Studio and imported it into the game with Sappy. It's primitive compared to today's decomp methods, but it was easier for me to pick up for a day project like this!

Mauville City night could be interesting. Though it doesn't exactly look the part in the GBA game, I feel it would have a Las Vegas excitement kind of vibe. Everyone is awake and hanging out

ORAS does, but yeah, I think after having save files lost due to a dead battery and no way to recover them, Game Freak didn’t want to risk it again or were too lazy to figure something out for RSE

@@Rosegirl398 Ruby and Sapphire don't rely on the battery to save the game, it is stored on Flash. Ruby and Sapphire already have an internal battery and clock that is keeping the time already, you set it at the start of the game and it is used for various events like Shoal Cave and Berry Growth, even a Day/Night cycle is in the game for evolving Eevee into Espeon or Umbreon, they just didn't put in any alternative graphics to display that it is night, only by the clock in the player house.

After playing Emerald Cross and seeing littleroot at night, this is oddly fitting. Nostalgic, but cozy. Like when you are coming home from a long day, the sun is setting, and you see the lights on in everyone's windows.

I kind of wished we could get more night versions of music from Pokémon that's honestly what made Diamond and Pearl my favorites for so long. Great work Matt, it ain't half bad. Quite close to the mood of the game. I wonder how Saffron City's night theme would sound.

Tbh I want the whole Hoenn soundtrack. That said I think fortree night would be very cool! The standard has such a playful energy that giving it a more mellow nighttime feel would add something interesting. Thanks for sharing and have a great day!

I feel like this song is a bit energetic for nighttime, but I still like it. Definitely a cool idea. Now I suddenly want to see an Emerald romhack that adds nighttime themes to areas and actually look like night at appropriate hours.
