I love seeing how almost each boat is the family home. You see the hubby and the wife working together. You see her shirts and dresses hanging off the stern getting full of diesel smoke. Plants growing in boxes, Dogs barking and running along. Food cooking. TV playing. Their whole lives passing by....
This is really interesting. Not just because these boats make it through the conditions. But I find it interesting that even though these boats look scrappy. They are uniformed into several types. They are manufactured in mass somewhere. And they are built for a certain type of people. Everything is short, you have to climb or crawl around the boat. And most of these boats aren't just a work boat, they are also a home to full on families.

Seems like Freedom. They are good hard working people making a hard living on the river. If you wait an hour after the tidal gate opens wouldn’t the current be less there to push through?
@ 02:47 I cringed when the woman had her hands on that fence. She could lose a hand between that fence, and the cement pier/steel gate. I pray for her safety.
Hello, thank you for watching the video. This boat carries sand. Its main component is sand, but it contains mud. Have you never heard of a thing called the Venturi effect ? Those gates are from memory 3 or 4 meters deep and 6 meters wide and have a whole river running through one gate the loaded barges displace up to about 70% of the gate when this happens there are many extra tons of water pushing and speeding up around the hull that is why they have trouble. Put your finger over the end of a running hose and you will notice a big increase in pressure and speed of the flow

Yeah, maybe but there's probably also an understanding that there are a lot of people there who have to try and get by with what they got and not everyone can afford a better engine, i know here in North America people would definitely be mad though someone would probably also end up helping him as well though here.

I don’t understand why they don’t open more damn gates in order to lessen the strength of the water flow. If they opened three or four gates, the flow would be lessen an enable the boats to go through the gates easier.
