I'm becoming addicted to this channel. It would be very interesting to know more about the cargoes these barges are carrying. If I understand correctly, the ones carrying river bottom mud are for agriculture, and the clean sand for building. And coconuts downstream to market, but there are lots of empty barges going upstream and downstream, as well.
Hello, thank you for watching the video. The barge carrying sand is not clean, it is like mud, unclean sand is used to fill ponds and lakes, you are right, the barge carries clean sand used for construction. Boats carry coconuts downstream to market, many empty barges or empty steel boats arrive to bring clay back to make bricks.
Hello, thank you for watching the video. Most barges here are privately owned. The boat has a red front, eyes and anchor. Almost every boat has the same traditional design because it is the face of the boat, the boat's eyes have its own meaning.
It looks like the wind is giving these poor guys fits! These boats are surprising light weight when empty and riding high in the water the wind is pushing them around like they had a sail.
Going downstream with the current requires more speed to maintain control. Been there done that. Always a fine video, thanks and Good New Year.. CT, USA
