You motivated me to order some autumn orange 2117 arrows and weighted inserts from Three Rivers. My father gave me some original Bear Razorheads. I'm going to use these in my 1970s 50lb Bear Kodiak Hunter for Kodiak Sitka Deer! Thank you!

Nice video! Thank you! I'm glad to see someone building aluminum arrows, which have a higher accuracy to price ratio than carbon arrows. All I shoot are Easton Aluminum arrows. I have dozens (over 200 arrows) of various sizes, with being 2016's the most. With my 35# Taow bow pulling 42#, I'm spot on @ 20yds with full length 2016 GameGetters using 125gr tip and stock insert, 5in shield cut right-helical feathers, and 560gr total weight. But with my 70in 35lb (pulling 41) Bear Tamerlane HC-300, I'm spot on with full length Easton X7 Eclipse 2213's weighing 760gr using 300gr tip and stock inserts. Same 5in shield cut right-helical feathers.

Another great one Jeff! I do shoot aluminum arrows as well as carbon. Love the aluminums especially for the straightness factor although not quite as durable and like that I may not have to nock tune them as with carbons. I use a lot of 1916s and wish they would sell brass inserts for them. I’m shooting gold tip classic 500’s with my Super Grizzly so I think I can build some 2016’s with high foc, after watching your video. Thank you

Thank you So Much for another great video ! I'm just getting back into Archery after having lost all my gear a while back , and you've been such a great resource for all things traditional . I'm starting up with wood and bamboo arrows , but I'm sure I'll get some Carbon and Aluminum shafts down the road a bit . I have a set of 35 pound and 45 pound ILF limbs to get me back in form and intend to try some wingshooting jumping doves along the powerlines . I'm in North Central Florida , so eventually , Hogs and Deer will be on the menu as well as Turkeys and maybe even some Armadillo . Thanks again for sharing your valuable insights and knowledge on setup , tuning and shooting form ! God Bless and Thanks Again for your Great Work ! Bob

Thank you for sharing this build with us. I have been shooting 2315 and 2317 arrows in my compound for many years and I recently decided to shoot them out of my recurve and they shoot surprisingly good. It was a surprise to me because my compound is 78 lb draw and my recurve is 58. I have all factory inserts with 150 grain heads. This may not be the perfect combination but it's what I have to work with and they hit where I aim and hit hard. Mine weigh 579 grains.

What is the difference in a self Bow and a long bow
@fairviewman3924
@fairviewman3924 Год назад
@@charlesperegoy6492 A long bow is a bow that, when strung, the string does not touch the limbs beyond the limb tips. You can get a long bow in a classic D shape, reflex deflex, or other designs. A selfbow is a bow made out of a single piece of wood. You can shape a self bow to be any of the long bow shapes or even a recurve bow. There are lots of RU-vid videos on making a selfbow.

Huge fan of your videos. Not new to trad but picking it up after about 12-15 years of dormancy. I’m 30 now and ready to restring my old bows and put that time in. I just ordered everything you built with, but I went with the 1-1/4 cut 200 grain heads. You think that will make a huge difference in flight compared to the 1 1/8? Can’t wait to put these arrows together and definitely a nostalgic arrow for me, I remember my dad shooting these eastons out of his pse compound bow. God bless!

Thank you for this video, Jeff. I've been shooting aluminums since the 80s. Mainly because they are much more affordable than carbon. I have a compound and some day when I have the extra $, I'll be getting a recurve. Question.... do you line up your broadhead blades with your fletchings? I wondered if it helps arrow flight, or if it even matters.
@DM-sq3jm
@DM-sq3jm Год назад
Doesn't matter. 2 blade/3 fletch, 3 blade/4 fletch, 4 blade/3 fletch. It's more important to tune your bow, then your arrows to your bow.
@DM-sq3jm
@DM-sq3jm Год назад
The only "alignment" I even think about is what facilitates my sight picture. I like 2 blade heads to be horizontal and 3 blade heads oriented with 2 blades up, forming a "V". This is strictly for sight picture, not flight. Other archers orient them to their preference and still get great flight.

@bf1610
@bf1610 Год назад
Jeff, I enjoy your content which had me intrigued to get aluminum arrows after watching your video. I shoot a 50lbs sage with 28.5 inch draw length. I got the 2117 / 400 spine game getters and the 100 grain brass inserts for the 2117s, but my bare shaft tuning has been a nightmare. I never had any issues with my carbon arrows, but aluminums have me stumped. Every time I shoot it keeps showing weak spine. I have cut my arrow down in 1/8 increments as I would like to stay around 250 grains up front with such a heavy arrow. The arrow was cut to 29in and still showed week. I have checked the brace height and form, as I shot my carbon bare shaft and it was on. I have a field point test kit, and been shooting the arrows trying different weights now, but Any suggestions, I really like the hard hitting of the aluminums but just cant seem to get a arrow to flight straight??? I appreciate your videos and look forward to your response. God Bless!

So you don’t try to orient the 3 blades of the board head to the fletchings?
@instinctiveaddictionarcher8998
No sir, as with any arrow that bare shaft tuned good the broadheads will fly great no matter how they’re turned, I’ve actually found that on some marginal arrows the best way was to actually split the difference not lining them up with the feathers, some bigger heads try to over steer them but if it tuned from the beginning it’ll fly no doubt 👍🏻

Most likely a 2016 maybe a 2018 it all depends on how much point weight you want to run, a 2016 is like a 600 and the 2018 is like a 500 spine 👍🏻

first trad bow if you were moving from compound?what would it be?
@instinctiveaddictionarcher8998
I’d go with a DAS 17” ILF riser and 3K carbon bamboo limbs from 3rivers medium 45# super sweet other than that a Hoyt Satori Riser with the same limbs it’s a very easy transition from compound way easier to be on quick than a wood bow, the main thing is to get the low 2.0 jager style grip on the DAS riser and on the satori you want to order an R-Core Master grip in low wrist angle because the factory satori grips are awful but once you charge that they’re awesome but either one would be my pick because you can adjust tiller for your shooting style and +- two pounds weight adjustment as well 👍🏻
