In this weeks episode we get covered in rust with replacing our cab mount bushings on the 72 Chevy C10 (Project Harold).
After a good bit of research, we opted to go with the Energy Suspension poly bushings instead of the OEM rubber. We had hoped it would be a quick and easy replacement but once again, the Classic God's wanted to teach us a lesson. Or maybe it's just Murphy's Law (look it up if you don't know about that one). Hope you enjoy the episode.

Not even sure how this would have sounded driving down the road with the bushings in this condition but we know how sweet it will feel with new ones. Have you seen any in this condition before?

I did a cab and bed swap from a 2 wheel drive to a 4 wheel drive chassis once and the 4 wheel drive donor truck was terrible. Wound up doing a complete sand blast and paint on the frame before reassembly. Every fastener had to be cut off and all the rubber was junk. It was a pretty decent truck when I got it done. Harold will be fantastic once he's back on the road.

@Yellow Jacket Garage That's awesome. I personally hate when I have to cut the stuff off. I prefer it all to just break or fall off. Lol.

@Spirit'ed Wrenchers do you have a nut splitter that will fit? If you can get one on the nut they take care of the rusty ones pretty quick.

Wow, those things were crusty and falling apart. Sure the new ones will give a much better ride once you two get it on the road. Thanks for sharing!

You definetly neededt o do this for yoir truck..After watching the video I thought maybe I should do that to my truck as I've pretty much done everything else to it. I looked up a complete kit, newbolts et al from a supplier I use and at 379.95 US plus shipping etc., I thought my rides okay !!!!!

Thank you for watching my Canadian friend. 😁. If this kit was that much I would have found something different. The bolts all came from a local hardware store. Less than $10 for them all. We're glad we took care of this now while we could easily.

At least the frame mounts were all in good shape. I have been putting off doing the ones on my f150, because I did the f100 and the tops of the frame mounts were gone. Had to make new ones from scratch.

Damn. That would suck. Thankful we have everything there on the mount side for sure. Sure hope yours isn't that bad when you do it. Thank you for watching!

Good way to F-Up your WINDSHIELD, grinding inside the cab without covering it up!!

Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts. I would agree. Considering that ours is so "fogged" up, it will be replaced anyway, we didn't give a damn. Had it been new glass, we would have taped off all of it. ✌️

IDK if im a huge fan of how much play there is in the cab bolts and the crush sleeves. So much play in there that while driving and rattling they may shift on the pickup. I bought the same kit and am going to get a bolt that fits tight in my crush sleeve and going to anti-seize them so they dont weld themselves to it..

@SpiritedWrenchers Год назад
Hi Theodore Peterson. Thanks for watching and sharing your experience. The bolts we used weren't too loose but we'll know for sure once we get it on the road on how it does. You made a great point of adding anti-seize to the bolts. I didn't think about that but if we do have to pull them back out for any reason, I'll certainly do that. What truck do you put these on? Cheers!

@@tedpeterson50 hell yeah man. That sounds awesome. If you're ever interested in sharing progress pics of the build, send them to our email. I keep connected with a couple across the country and Canada and it's great to see the transformation. Really hoping to have ours on the road this summer.

Thanks for watching and asking. Apologies on the delay. Been a busy week with our day jobs. I couldn't remember off hand and we now have them covered so I went to find it in the 67-72chevytrucks.com forum. Here they are with size and length. Hope this helps with your replacement.
