Here in Finland, if you have solar panels on your house and you are with Fortum, they can put the surplus solar that you generate in summer (which is usually a lot with so much sun!) and they put it on your rfid. You can use this credit to charge all over Scandinavia in winter etc. I just drove 1300km up Finland in my e-niro and it cost 13 euros (had to use K-Lataus in Rovaniemi, no Fortum there).

Great video. As Tesla seem to be using all kinds, and makes, of battery cell at the moment, do you think a few future BMS updates will improve slowdowns in charging etc, of these different packs? Would be very interested if you could fit in a SR+ road trip, (as we have one). reckon it is more efficient in general everyday driving, but would be interested to see how it fairs on this trip, with its smaller battery pack, in these temperatures.

171 Wh/km. How cute. I just did Kopervik to Dal along E134 over Haukelifjell in my 2019 Ioniq today. Slightly colder and far more snow than we had back in early December. 142 Wh/km. (It was 140 until I got to the 110km/h part of E6 and decided to go the rest of the trip at 120km/h indicated (113km/h actual) along with two TM3 left lane huggers.)

Your trip and my trip is not comparable at all. But if you look at my Geilo test sheet, you will see that on the same trip with the same driver and similar weather, Ioniq was consuming 139 Wh/km whereas Model 3 used 148 Wh/km. That's only 6.5 % difference. In your example, you make it sound like the difference was 20 % which is way too optimistic for the Ioniq. And your consumption of 142 Wh/km is cute. The Model 3 consumed 137 Wh/km: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Gduwp2ik4ys.html And Model 3 doesn't cost 3 times more than Ioniq. To compare the total cost you should fill up the battery or fuel tank before you do the math since you started out with both fully loaded. That would show an even bigger benefit in favor of an EV since you would most likely charge it at home where the price is around 1 NOK/kWh. The fossil would have to be filled up at a gas station of corse, with a relatively higher price.

When navigating to supercharger, there's no coldgate. The problem is charging at non-superchargers. As pointed out earlier, the closest non-Tesla fast charger Tesla would preheat for is in Germany. Tesla need to update their database or find a smart solution by automaticallly learning/harvesting information.
@danielvanced5526
@danielvanced5526 3 года назад
@@bjornnyland ah, seems like an even simpler fix then, just give people the option to tick when navigating. "Preheat for rapid charging at this location". Whether they bother doing it or not is another matter. They seem to focus on American priorities, where there is a much less developed 3rd party charge infrastructure, although it would make sense to give the option to reduce load on the supercharger network.

Tesla technology is nice as is the supercharging price. The only one question is when Tesla will produce practically shaped cars like hatchbacks, station wagons or proper shaped SUV? So far the choice is Model X and in North America Model Y - coupe shaped cars with impaired practicality and no so much loved rear slope like in a proper upright SUV? That is why, I believe, in Norway like many other places customer buy other proper shaped EV cars even with need to use a much higher priced fast charging system vs Tesla SC.
@harsimranbansal5355
@harsimranbansal5355 3 года назад
Tesla is all about efficiency. Having the squared off design can reduce range by 20% just because it’ll be so inefficient! Heck even removing the side mirrors will improve range by almost 10%, and those are tiny, imagine changing the body shape!
@nevco8774
@nevco8774 3 года назад
@@harsimranbansal5355 Yet most customers with families want practical cars vs a number of folks in need for a very fast long range electronic gadget/appliance/toy. The reason people still buy electron guzzling Audi Etron in Norway/Europe is its practicality and fast, long lasting, no-cold-gating battery charge curve despite of its short range. The new SUVs from Lucid motors or Rivian are going to be very practically shaped, and efficient, and with a quite long range. I seriously consider Tesla Model S as a liftback being a more practical car than a sedan Model 3 for instance. The gull wing rear doors in Model X totally compromise practicality of that coupe SUV for instance. Tesla Model Y has large luggage compartment but a very sloped non practical one with very low ground clearance and very low profile tires blowing on potholes thus a very low practicality but very high sportiness. To me like most other drivers/owners the shape/practicality comes before anything else.
@andymurray8007
@andymurray8007 3 года назад
To each his own. To me this is a "proper" car, I prefer aerodynamics over SUVs, but some people need a minivan. If you need something bigger there's X,Y, Soul, Niro, etc. You should be able to find something that suits your use.

4g. But the older 3g teslas are upgradeable to 4g. So it would not be unreasonable to assume this one could eventually be upgraded to 5g. So, bottom line: is 2020 model better then 2019? My local dealer is trying to sell me SR+ 2019 model which has Chinese battery. Claims it has better range even then SR+ 2020 model (or as good range at the least)...

newest one is definitely better, question is what’s the price difference. Here in Toronto the price difference between a 2018 model and a 2021 model is like a couple thousand, after incentives of course and so it makes more sense to buy the new cuz it has more range! The new SR+ has about 420 km of range!

@@Evphonehome ahhh, you’re using the European cycle right, yeah most people who sell a tesla, even Tesla reps don’t know much about it. I would say if you can afford the newer one get that as it’ll be more efficient with heat pump, have better build quality, and has more range, but that totally depends on how much you value those things.
