When you are in the laser punching process, you can see that there is some jitter for inox steel ,but the effective is ok

I think they used Nitrogen gas so get no oxidation but o2 assist in melting iron , made a lot of spark like fire work!

5:41 you can see the cut expanding and contracting from the heat in the rest of the workpiece, surely that's got to affect accuracy.

It does and in that case the programmer made a mistake. They should have started the cut form the left side of the sheet to minimize the effect of the thermal expansion though that only seemed to be a demonstrative piece. All in all laser cutting is actually very efficient in terms of heat and the parts don't reach critical temperatures that will affect the material properties as long as the cutting values are correct for the size of the hole/part you are cutting

It's only the very surface of it but at 6000 kW+ concentrated it goes fast. A very strong knife of air then shots the molten layer off revealing new unmolted material to be melted by the laser. And the stronger the laser the higher the pressure for the air knife to be able to keep up. And the pressure for these types of multi kW lasers could be so high that the air out from the nozzle would need ear protections since it's such a strong high sound.

if you own a metal fabricating shop this one machine can save you 8 labor. comparing to the salaries of 8 man annually. the price of this machine is not crazy.

Work with fiber lasers, stainless steel 316 -304 and such are cut with nitrogen, though if the plates are thick we use oxygen, 5mm or thicker. Normal steel and copper and brass are cut with oxygen if i remember correct

Usually just mild steel plate, it needs to be cheap since it's considered a consumable.

@@stoneomountain2390 yeah though you can use othet metals. Tho they last pretty long, at work we usually cut 5-10 tons of steel a week, they last around 3 months though if you cut alot of thick plates they dont last long at all

I've never seen such a clean metal finish. I work with my laser with a 10 mm metal sheet and with such a poor cut quality it's just awful ( Perhaps this is due to insufficient experience

@@lightsaber8093 10% of our cutting is 30mm steel plate , 10% would be 20-25mm, 50% would be 12-16mm, 20% 8-10mm and the rest is 4-6mm

Hi Kevin. Because laser has its own focus range, which makes it can cut through, meanwhile it can not cut off things out of the range. However, the top of metal saw will gradually melt due to the high temperature of cutting.

Yes this is a horrible nest ;) but I think it may only be a demonstration of machine possibilities not production. If someone produces like that of 6mm copper probably have too much money ;)
