This video covers the electrical and hydraulic operation of the GM 6T70 transaxle used in many Chevrolet, Buick, and GMC FWD/AWD vehicles and the 6F50, which is found in many FWD/AWD Ford and Lincoln vehicles. It's a close cousin to the GM 6T40/45 and Ford 6F35, which shares the same hydraulic design concept. These transmissions are still offered in 2020 models and arrived on the scene in about 2007. In this video, I cover the TCM, electronic inputs/outputs, hydraulic operation of solenoids, line pressure regulator, actuator feed limit (solenoid regulator), clutch regulator and boost valves, torque converter valves and flow through the torque converter.
I also cover the modifications made with TransGo valve body kits and discuss the options found with Sonnax valves.
Lastly, I cover some common failures and discussion other transmission issues.
This video is intended to teach a student or a technician that's new to automatic transmissions the electrical and hydraulic operation of this transmission.
