International made the T444E on bigger platforms without routing the CCV into the intake. This is a great and perfectly sensible mod.

I have a '95 7.3. tapped a barbed fitting into passenger valve cover, ran a hose down the frame trail and welded a pipe into the exhaust, put it in about 6" into the pipe. Back by the bed to cab section

I think this is an excellent mod that actually came from the manufacturer of the engine 👍🏼 But somehow didn’t make it to the Ford pickup truck line. I’m going order and install for my 97, however I will attempt to reverse the valve covers to gain a better fit. Curious if you attempted a valve cover swap? Excellent video thanks for making it!!

Grateful for the idea and I was confident that this would help because it looked like a solid solution to keep the boots from constantly popping off from oil. Nothing but love for Gillan's Garage but do your research. There are a number of folks in forums having major issues after installing the Racor CCV3550 which is what this part is. I am one of those cases. I installed this and started experiencing major pressure issues which created oil leaks in places that were not leaking. I had to replace o-rings on the turbo pedestal and delete the ebpv which were not a problem until doing this CCV mod. Never interrupt hallowed ground! The haunting is real

It sounds like you had to replace things that commonly fail on all 7.3 and you haven’t changed it yet. Do your research to know ccv is thanks to the epa and wasn’t done on the medium duty trucks.

Ive never sen or heard of this international oem part before. Seems legit..only question is on your install, the rubber pipe is making a trap thats gonna keep catching oil residue potentially stopping it from making it to filter canister.. I've seen a bunch of people do the ccv mod & just use a generic ccv catch can setup off the shelf....or just dump into atmosphere under truck, or into exhaust pipe. I think just using a catch can would solve the problem. Idk, i gotta deal w\ like ten+ other issues on mine before worring about a lil oil in my intake tube & intercooler.🤷🏻‍♂️👍🏻👌🏻🛠️🛠️🦺🚜🤔😎🛢️

@xxxmikeyjock
@xxxmikeyjock 3 года назад
if you are filtering it why not dump it to atmo? the oil in the intercooler is not good but the damage it does to the boots is the real issue.
@GillansGarage
@GillansGarage 3 года назад
It’s my understanding the filter is just trapping the oil and giving it a chance to drain back into the valve cover but allowing the vapors to be burning during combustion. Frankly the biggest reason I didn’t like dumping into the atmosphere was the odor it omitted if the truck was sitting idling or low speed backing with the camper hooked up. I completely agree with the oil causing issues throughout the entire intercooler system.

I did pick up a little fuel mileage running empty, however when the camper is hooked up the power band seems to be around 70MPH which can be hard to hold in the mountains of PA. That’s with the ZF6, of course, that has a deeper overdrive(.72). I think with the ZF5 overdrive(.75) pulling with the camper would be a little easier. Overall though I’m happy with my choice especially if I do a Cummins swap.

Gillian’s Garage, man if you ever want to sell the truck, send me reply on this message. I’d buy the truck quicker than blinking an eye. I’ve got a 85 F250 Lariat 4x4 single cab longbed with a 460, BW T19B trans & BW13-45 T-case with dana 44HD front axle an 4:09.1 and Ford 14-Bolt rear axle an 4:10.1. It’s a gas hog but I love the old man and I’m driving daily. Rebuilt the trans an t-case changed the clutch, all the engine gaskets due to leaks except the head gaskets and intake gaskets are the only ones that were good. Keeping mine stock, it still has ALL the emission equipment and it ALL still works. Probably going to rebuild the engine in a year though, it’s got 317,000mi on the clock and going. Other that initial leaks, rebuilding the factory Holley built for Ford 4180C carb last year it runs good with great oil pressure but, it stumbles every now and again because of one cylinder with lower than normal compression. I’ve done mild 4x4 riding when camping and a few long distance rides with no issues, now that the oil leaks are fixed doesn’t loose oil and doesn’t burn any oil either surprisingly. I’ve been looking for a OBS 7.3 quad cab long bed for years, there’s just none to be found in the New Orleans area.
@GillansGarage

Gillan’s Garage gotcha man, I’m the same way with my old man, you can’t beat the OBS Ford trucks, their tough and last years with good maintenance and cleaning. I’m currently restoring a 85 Mercury Grand Marquis LS fixing rust holes in the top of my door post, passenger front & rear floor pans and removing the landau top all due to a leak from the front edge of the landau top. I’ve had it for 20 years, built the engine 0.030 over, RV cam just for a little more grunt without a lumpy cam idle, built the 8.8 rear axle with Yukon clutch limited slip and recently put a built AOD from monster transmission and restore all the emissions equipment back to factory including 2” catalytic converters. She purrs like a kitten with true dual 2” exhaust with factory H-Pipe for a 86 police package crown Vic, smooth & quiet dual 3-chamber thrusher mufflers and tail pipes over the axle to the rear bumper for the same 86 police crown Vic. Going to be adding a rear sway bar from that police crown Vic too soon. The only engine mod I’m going to do is a speed density 2bbl throttle body to mass air flow EFI conversion with GT40 heads, cam and intake from a Ford Explorer similar to that of the 87-93 mustangs. It’s only for a little more power a bit more low end torque and better fuel economy as well plus it’s all bolt on from another ford and easy to get factory parts if needed like sensors and gaskets. I’ve got a 86 2door Mercury Grand Marquis with the 5.0 EFI except it’s the stock low flowing upper & lower intake same as mustangs and it’s a speed density engine too. Speed density engines get crappy mileage and only make about 180hp. The explorer engine puts out about 325HP with the same block as the sedans, their all truck engines. The foxbody platform cars all had less durable blocks and crappy pistons. If I’m feeling up to it I might put a 351w block I have with the GT40 heads cam and intake and that would be the farthest I upgrade it because it’s my wife daily driver meant to be our family car not mustang. It’s an old paw paw car meant to cruise quietly, comfortably and have a little grunt when needed.
