Appreciate the 7.3 content! I daily my 97 CCLB4x47.3 (in Los Angeles lol) and love it. Installed a Hydra on it and it was the best mod I’ve done yet. Simple to install, woke it right up and zero issues with it.
I’ve experienced major mpg gains with the Hydra and their tunes on my bus I use for an rv. Went from 7-10 to 12-15mpg depending on towing, highway vs city, etc. I highly recommend it to anyone with a 7.3
I daily an '00 Ex with 301k miles. I bought this one with 260k, and as far as I can tell it was never tuned. Hydra went on the next day. It'll get some custom tunes once my injectors go in. I actually have tunes from PHP from 2015-16 for those injectors, but they are for a ZF6 truck, otherwise I'd just load them up. That truck was fantastic, from startup, idle, drivability, towing... Which is great for custom injectors with 100% nozzles. I eventually want to learn the Minotaur software, so I can play and tweak. Transmission tuning is possibly the biggest, although clean power is a given. Does Charlie know you spilled on a new product? Can't wait to see what comes from the summit!
Lmao i about spit my drink out when he said the 4r100 was a good transmission they were an e4od with a bandaid on them they didnt hold up behind a 5.4 cas or the v10 much less a tuned 7.3 😂
I recently purchased a 99 f450 with a 7.3. It has 4" exhaust and aftermarket intake. I'm considering adding the Hydra chip. Being that it's a 6 speed would I have to get it custom tuned? I use this truck for my masonry business and sometimes haul some heavy loads. It only has 135,000 miles and as is I'm very happy with this truck. I was looking at some used trucks and this one was one tenth the cost compared to what I was finding.
I’m doing some mild exhaust port work on my 00’ 7.3 cylinder heads, Hard to find Fact of What to Do and What Not to Do. I’d like to hear some testimonials from Anyone that has done customized valve modifications, Not just smart ass opinions. It can be done, it’s been done, there’s room for a bit larger valves, and More Air has to be proven technology because every new diesel cylinder head for almost 20 years now has went to 4 valves. If Millions of trucks have the same thing in common across all manufacturers spectrums, More Air is something that has been proven beneficial. There’s a huge gap of information on 7.3 head porting, that’s pretty much what I’m saying. Someone has to be able to pioneer a small adjustment to break the physical crest of dismal airflow, Especially when dealing with Boost. Compressed Air takes advantage of every micro spec of opportunity to move through passages. Does anyone have some kind of numbers or examples of improved performance directly correlated to airflow/valve modifications?
Well when y’all go to that there fancy Dealer Only Convention thing, someone please create a One Stop Shop 7.3 Club for us all to come together and make one BIG 7.3 Club. There is no reason for any little guy out there to struggle with their truck! We have the technology and Skills to help each other. Example: Someone Buys a 7.3 cause they read all on the internet it’s the best longest lasting Diesel “which it IS” They get home, everyone else goes inside, your looking at this truck like 😮 what in the heck is all this? Anyways, all of us already know that if you don’t get rid of that dang EBPV your gonna shoot your EGTs through the roof when your pushing through the mountains hauling everything you got cause the internet said it will. Anyways, we need a 7.3 Government By the People for the People. Save these trucks and please stop beating them to pieces, jeez la wees, I keep seeing them for sale and it looks like someone used the truck as excavator targets…. Maybe one day we can figure out the EPA and let these old trucks Rest. But until then

Just think… how many carbon credits would it take so I can buy a nice new truck, chop all of that garbage off.
