whoa....memories galore...i used to put in a 16 foot coleman canoe in town lake behind austin high school, ice chest full of beer, and my faithful dog companion, j.d.....we would spend the day paddling all over the place...j.d. loved to play in the spillway below barton springs...did such many many many times from 1977 to 2000....that water was so clear and so cold in the summer....constant temp year round (68F) so in the winter it was like really warm....one thing i never experienced there was lines that long....part of the reason i left austin and moved to the country....but i do have only really pleasant memories of my 23 years in austin....

Barton Springs flooded again this year and Zilker Park had some damage. Some of the earth under some train tracks was washed out so Zephyr Train hasn't been able to run yet this summer. We went to BSP today, hot day, water so cold it took our breath away. It's quite refreshing on a hot, humid, Texas summer day.

Your boys would love it! Although the water is very chilly! haha! In the upper 60's most of the year. The springs in the Austin and San Antonio areas are beautiful! Hugs!

Good Morning Favor! I love Barton Springs...haven't been there in many years though! I don't think our Texas heat is fun to be out and about in...give me air conditioning!!!!

I'd love being around all the gorgeous fur babies in that park! I'm used to crowds, being in N.E> NJ (near NYC), but not fond of them at all. Besides prices, that's part of what's kept me away from Disney World for 6 years; I used to go every year. Congrats on giving up smoking - how long has it been for you? I just had my 9-year anniversary the end of June. Gave up smoking and drinking at the same time, because when I drank, it made me want to smoke more, and I did not want to be tempted. I really don't miss drinking, but man - I still want a cigarette sometimes!! :) Continuing to enjoy being on this adventure with you and Robert, thank you! BIG HUGS, hope you're having an enjoyable weekend! Oh - and it and it has one long, HOT, HUMID, summer in the Northeast this year!!

That woman being mean to that dog pissed me off... and no one said anything to her? With my temper I would of...So many people there. I loved the pet part but the rest of it was just too crowded. Never enough dogs lol maybe that's why we have 12 of them...

She upset us, too. A person did say something to her, which is why we did not. I am fairly vocal when it comes to how people treat their pets. I am not a perfect pet mommy but I try to be patient and loving just like I was with my human children. It was waaaaay tooooo crowded for us as well. 12! Amazing!!!! Big hugs to all of you!! And thank you for all you do for the fur babies!!

Awe, you're welcome! I grew up coming here. I LOVE Austin. Tourism, especially right now, is vital to the economical wellbeing of MANY people; so glad to hear you are supportive.
