I accidentally made the opposite when I played Resident Evil 1... a friend brought his PS copy and made me play it, since he knew the game pretty well he was guiding me to the best ending he knew and I did the things that he didn't knew could be done to get a better ending... like killing the plant monster with the chemicals which if I remember correctly is the only way to save one of the characters... 😂

@@spiker.ortmann using the chemicals is not necessary to save anyone, it just reduces the plants health by a lot and can only be done by Jill, Chris has to always manually fight it, but he gets a functioning flamethrower to make things easier🔥

Arguably the Dark Souls ending you got was the good one. It's theoretically the end of Gwyn's Age of Fire, being rid of the manipulative gods and beginning an Age of Men. You're king now, the serpents are there to welcome you, it's not their fault they're gross and weird. It's also not humanity's fault the power of men is dark, and results in the abyss and terrifying monsters like Manus... But at least you weren't used as fuel. ...Even more arguably, there is no good ending.
@metazoxan2
@metazoxan2 2 месяца назад
Except before the age of fire began the world was filled with dragons and other monsters and things really sucked for humans. Just unleashing darkness is almost certainly bad for the average civilian. Even if the cycle can't last forever it's arguable if another solution besides just welcoming the end of the age of fire exists. Especailly in the first game where the age of fire still has plenty of time left to go so it's hardly necesary to end it right then and there.
@NottherealLucifer
@NottherealLucifer 2 месяца назад
@@metazoxan2 No, it isn't. Dark _is humanity,_ it isn't something for them to fear. Humans would have been, in the Age of Men, as gods were in the Age of Fire, they are only weak because Gwyn cursed them to be weak. Humans fought against the ancient dragons, just like Gwyn and his Silver Knights, and Gwyn feared how powerful they were. Gwyn tricked humans into connecting themselves to the First Flame, and every piece of lore we have suggests that letting the First Flame die would have permanently allowed the Age of Dark to begin, all the way up until the end of Dark Souls 3. The dark was corrupted by the Age of Fire being extended, unnaturally, for uncountable cycles. The earlier the fire dies, the better off humans will be. The Age of Fire doesn't have plenty of time left in the first game, that's the entire point of Dark Souls 1, the fire is dying and has to be linked. The faster it died the faster humanity inherited reality.
@Darkprosper
@Darkprosper 2 месяца назад
@@metazoxan2 It's made clear from the beginning cutscene that the Age of Fire is coming to an end... and as early as DS1 we already know that it would already have ended a while before if Gwyn hadn't artificially extended it. Seriously, this isn't even hard to find lore, it's literally the game intro and final boss...

@@metazoxan2 Gwyn was already artificially extending the Age of Fire's duration when DS1 begins. There was no "Plenty of Time left", it should've had ended way earlier, but Gwyn used his own Body as fuel to keep it going. Yeah, things sucked for Humans during the Age of Dragons, however ending the Age of Fire DOESN'T make the Ancient Dragons magically reappear. The last remaining one in Lordran is in fact friendly towards Humanity and wouldn't try to attack them anymore, being fully content with living down in Ash Lake.

Some of us couldn't figure out the Bomber's and their stupid tricks; and felt the wrath of Majora as the moon crashed ontop our heads while trapped in the town. Can't get the moon tear, no SoT and no ocarina. I thought it was something you do *later* in the game and had the moon drop on my head twice. I thought that the married couple was the key, as I found one of them and figured I'd need to do a quest, only to have my sibling *easily catch the bombers* and make progress. I did not forget, I was just completely illogical. If you grew up with Sierra On-Line games you'd expect puzzles to have moon logic, but Majora's Mask is easy if you don't overthink it.

There is no good ending in Dark Souls, but the Dark Lord ending is probably the best you can hope for, seeing as it ends the Age of Fire and doesn't continue Lord Gwyn's oppressive rule over humanity, though it probably isn't meant to be the "canonical" ending, since the story of DS2/3 continues the plot and the Age of Fire hasn't yet ended in DS3.

Yoda totally knows Gungi, too. He was their during Gungi's first venture into a jedi temple; to gather the kyber crystal for his light saber. Its a great set of 'Clone Wars' episodes. Not saying Yoda should remember every student he ever took on a field trip, but there is definitely a chance he knows about Gungi being alive still. He atleast 100% knows about Ezra being alive at the time he spoke to Luke, as shown in the 'Rebels' TV show. My head cannon is that when obi wan and Yoda are chatting and Yoda says "no... there is another", that he's probably talking about Ezra (as opposed to Leia; the likely original meaning behind the line from the film). But ya know what... maybe he meant Gungi...

To be frank, The Force Unleashed games don't seem to be set in the same continuity as The Clone Wars 2008, Rebels, The Bad Batch, and so on. Hell, there are some camps where the games can't even fit with the Legends continuity.

@@michaelandreipalon359all of the older games were decanonized and made into "legends" content when Disney purchased star wars. The games that have come out since that point (such as the new Battlefronts, Squadrons, or the Jedi games) are all considered Canon within the ongoing star wars timeline.
@michaelandreipalon359
@michaelandreipalon359 2 месяца назад
@@Xris_Kinder "Decanonized" doesn't mean they're utterly worthless. Just take a look at comics like DC's Batman: Year One+The Dark Knight Returns and original anime like Fullmetal Alchemist 2003. They're not part of their respective canons anymore, but they should still be enjoyed nonetheless. Also, Multiverse Theory is a thing, so nothing truly is non-canon. Yes, even the infamous Holiday Special should be canon somewhere, all while good bits of it have permeated well in both Legends (Chewbacca's named family is actually a thing) and Disney Canon.
@Xris_Kinder
@Xris_Kinder 2 месяца назад
@@michaelandreipalon359 I'm not saying they are worthless. I'm just saying they are in the "legends" timeline/universe of canon. They are only considered non canon in regards to the shows you listed; such as Clone Wars, Rebels, Bad Batch. I recognize how my language could have bee more clear when I initially addressed this. However, I did not mean to downplay the significance of any of the "legends" or other multiversal content. I'm a life long comic fan, and if there is one thing I've learned from that it is; canon is meaningless beyond loosely organizing plot points. Someone will surely come in an undo/rewrite your favorite stories or characters at some point, but that doesn't mean those original stories never mattered. All that matters is what stories resonate most with you; as an individual. Lastly, Dave Filoni has been actively working to canonize a lot of "legends" content within the new Disney-Star Wars universe. It isn't all seamless, and I personally don't love all the ways that they have made "legends" events a reality in the new universe. But I think it is commendable of Dave Filoni, and the supporting star wars writing team, to try and make more of the expanded star wars universe into official content, as opposed to abandoning the hundreds of star wars stories that have previously been told in other mediums.

I'd put forwards Hollow Knight as an easy bad ending. Given it's a metroidvania-style game, you wouldn't think (on a first playthrough) that you could be missing anything critical to the end of the game if you can already get there, but if you fail to assemble the Void Heart, you only succeed in extending the time the infection is contained, leaving your player character doomed to become the next failed vessel. Bonus points to the fact you can get a nearly identical ending if you fail to recognise how to get from the first "phase" into the next even if you DO have the Void Heart.
@AmirysMewen

Thankfully the bad endings in hollow knight is either “go to the final boss area too early” or “don’t use the dream nail when you are supposed to during the final boss” …. Neither endings actually lock you out of the true ending Hell actually the only endings you can be locked out of are the first bad ending (which is impossible to get after you get the void heart) and the non flower variant of the godhome ending (which even then is just the same ending with a single difference to it)

Fable III for me. You spend the last act on a time table, doing missions that each move you a month to the deadline. Until you get to 120 days left. There, instead of having a little mission after your decision, it just throws you straight to the final fight, no warning or anything, just Bam! Then it autosaves. So, if your gold is anywhere else than your treasury, congrats, now everyone is dead and it's all your fault. I remember being so mad at that, that I didn't even finish the game even though there was only like 10 minutes left. I just got up, ejected the disk and but it back on the shelf.

A really easy-to-get bad ending is in Chrono Trigger. When you get to the End of Time, the Old Man specifically tells you to not open the portal in the bucket behind him. If you're curious and/or have a "you can't tell me what to do" attitude and open that portal, certain death followed by one of the game's bad endings awaits. Okay, I gotta bring up Disgaea 1's normal ending, even if it might not quite count as a bad ending. In order to get this ending, all you have to do is get at least 1 ally kill. This is really easy to do on accident in Disgaea 1, thanks to AOE attacks and geo effects. And so thanks to randomly killing that one generic unit one time you have doomed Laharl to thousands of years stuck in a penguin costume for daring to sacrifice himself to save his funny angel friend.

The second game was more forgiving if I remember right. It's bad ending required you to have 99 felonies from killing allies. SO you really had to make an effort to get that one. Plus you have an option to get rid of felonies you got so there was really no excuse carrying even one into the final battle unless you did it on purpose.

the whole theme of Persona is to look for the truth and the midnight channel is all about what people WANT to see. So if you understood what the devs intended it's obvious namatame wasnt the killer that and the game REALLY wanted to make you think he's the killer or at least use Nanako to make the player act rashly. At least it's quickly apparent that you picked the wrong ending. I think the true ending by contrast is quite a bit harder to achieve if it's your first time. You're meant to not leave in the supposed epilogue it's a weird process to say the least instead of making you go somewhere

One that you missed, in my opinion, is Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow. About 2/3rds of the way through the game, in order to not get the bad ending, you have to put on a normally useless accessory before walking into a cutscene. There is no warning, and no hints.
@RedSpade37
@RedSpade37 2 месяца назад
I feel like that was done on purpose, especially since Genya basically breaks the 4th Wall after that ending, right before the credits, basically outright telling the player to equip the accessory. And I'm one of those crazy people that really likes that ending, due to how tragic it is, plus it unlocks Julius Mode, and that's a ton of fun, especially if you track down that semi-famous romhack that makes Julius Mode even better. But yeah, you're exactly right though. Prior to the ending, there's 0 hints or info towards avoiding it, unless you just so happened to play Harmony of Dissonance first, and remembered it had a similar mechanic, and then you kept the Talisman equipped, just in case. But even then, I don't think the Talisman increases any stats, so even in that situation, you might ignore it entirely, or equip it for a bit, then unequip it, and then eventually find your way to that particular room. All in all, I feel like it does indeed fit with this list.

And then I had all these people show up and chew me out about how I'd acted, without ever having met them or even knowing who some of them were. I still thought I'd done something wrong when the _first_ one showed up, but after about the third I was just laughing hysterically at my computer because the 'bad end' I'd got was having all these random strangers show up and get mad at me for a bunch of stuff I hadn't actually done. I think it might have been that the flags it was checking were set to 0 by default, and none of them had had the chance to get set to 1 by events, so I got results like 'you skipped out on meeting A to spend time with B' and at the same time 'you didn't spend any time with B'.

I gotta nominate the Real Boy ending from Lies of P. You get this ending by giving your heart to Gepetto after defeating Simon Manus. The thing about this choice is that it's always available no matter what you do in the rest of the game. You could do everything required for the best ending, and it's all decided before you choose whether or not you give up your heart to Gepetto. And if you're not paying attention, you can choose to give up your heart when Gepetto asks for it. Since this is a Souls-like game, there's no going back from it. What makes this such a bad ending is the fact that all of the Hotel's surviving residents are replaced with puppets, and their personalities become as wooden as their bodies. You may have skipped one of the most difficult bosses in the game, but now everyone else is dead by your own hand as well. All in a cutscene too.

I need to get back into Lies of P. I'd been enjoying it until I got to the infuriating cathedral bit. I loved the area leading up to it, but that whole area with poison (sorry, corruption) and delicate platforming while monsters throw crap at you sucks beyond belief. I know it's a Soulslike, but they didn't have to make something akin to Sen's Fortress and such. Doesn't help that they put an enemy that lunges at you just as you get to a ladder past the first rolling electric ball of death, and then going up that ladder leads you to a Trinity Door that you can't even open yet so it wasn't the way you were supposed to go to begin with. @@Tengila Yeah, but the second electric ball of death up there killed me and that pissed me off so much that I did what I do only when I've gotten myself truly worked up about a game: calmly save and quit the game, and then put my controller down with exaggerated calmness. It's the second ranged one that gets me. I think it's the second one; whichever one is on a larger platform, but there's a wheel going around and you have to time it right so you don't get knocked off the beam. That one can absolutely do one. I'm thankful that the puppets in the sludge at the bottom can't climb the ladder since I honestly just run past them. I really liked the factory before it though. I knew part of the first area from the demo, but that large puppet policeman below the woman's window was where I stopped in the demo. I did look up the endings so I knew which one to go for. I'm obviously going for the true ending that requires the most humanity or whatever it's called. I know listening to the records increases it. Thanks to so many hours in actual FromSoftware Soulsborne games, I tend to explore very thoroughly as I go to try to minimize backtracking, particularly in Bloodborne and the Souls games. Backtracking is less of a pain in Elden Ring thanks to Torrent and thanks to FromSoftware being oddly generous with allowing me to complete NPC quests even after I finished the game and opted not to move into NG+ (I know better than to go into a FromSoftware DLC in NG+).

If you do another run of this, any of the Castlevania games are an auto-include. Take Portrait of Ruin for instance. You're supposed to progress the game until you get a magical spell that turns you into a frog, backtrack to the second area of the game which looks like a pyramid, find the exact tiny gap that you can now squeeze through by turning into a frog to find the Sanctuary spell which has no gameplay purpose and doesn't give any indication on what it actually does, then use the Sanctuary spell in an important boss fight which is easier said than done since the spell takes forever to pull off, and only then you get to play the final act of the game. Another option is Order of Ecclesia. Oh, you didn't save every single villager by searching every single nook and cranny, hitting every wall to check if they can be broken? Too bad, you now get the bad ending and don't even reach Dracula's Castle, that's only for real heroes.

I'd like to submit, Vampyr's third ending, the one I'd call the Tragic Ending. Vampyr actually has 4 endings, two of them are Good Endings, one has you go full on Evil by killing basically everyone. But the Tragic Ending is that weird grayzone where you kill a bunch of people, but not enough to trigger the Evil Ending, leading Lady Ashbury to kill herself but instead of Jonathan revelling in his bloodshed he feels very bad about it, becoming a Tragic Monster. The reason why it's something you could accidentally get it is because it's not entirely clear where the line is between Ending 2 and 3 is, just one kill makes the difference between Jonathan and Elizabeth in Quarantine but relatively happy and Elizabeth killing herself and Jonathan left alone to grieve, self-loathe, and trying to justify the choices he made.
@sardonicus1739
@sardonicus1739 Месяц назад
I mean it doesn't feel like it's much of an accident to get that ending since it was so obvious to me that if I killed anyone it would lead to a bad ending, so people seeking a good ending usually don't do much killing. I did my best to never kill even a single npc human and got the good ending first try, and learned later I could have killed a few people and still get a good-ish ending Of course you're going to end up on one of the bad endings if you keep killing people. i don't see why it matters that there's a gray area on which bad ending you get since it's so obvious you're not suppose to kill, so if you ended up anywhere near the tragic ending you made multiple major mess-ups. It even explains killing is bad through the mechanics explained in one of the tutorials that tells you the more you kill the more chaos is caused by your actions, and the harder time you'll have with enemies. The game punishes you every time you kill.

It's technically not a *bad* ending, just a very bittersweet one, but King's Quest 6 has two endings (technically there's a handful of minor variations within those two endings based on other choices, but for all intents and purposes it's still two endings), one of which is clearly meant to be the good one. Which one you get comes down to whether you remember something from a book earlier in the game. See, for most of the game, the end goal is simple; you need to break into a castle to interrupt a wedding between an evil vizier and a princess after the king and queen of that land died suddenly (no points for guessing as to how that happened). Late into the game, you're given an item that would let you do that: a set of clothes that you could easily wear to disguise yourself as a servant and be allowed into the castle that way. If you do this, you're on the point of no return, and after one final dungeon, it's the "bad" ending for you. Sure, you get the girl, but she's still lost her family, most of the kingdom's factions are feuding with each other because of the vizier's trickery, and there's going to be a long uphill battle fixing everything the vizier caused. What you're *actually* supposed to do is use those clothes -- or rather, a strand of hair from the original owner of the clothes that you find on them -- as a component for a spell from a book you found earlier in the game. That spell (after a diversion that you'd only know about if you used another spell from this book to survive an otherwise fatal optional cutscene and grabbed ashes from a bonfire while they were still hot --- it makes sense in context) ends up taking you somewhere that, among other important things, lets you: - Bring the late King and Queen back to life - Use *another* spell from that book to create an alternate path into the castle, so the final dungeon allows you to find evidence unobtainable in the part of the castle you enter on the "bad" path that lets you bring peace to several feuding factions and bring peace to the kingdom - Spare the life of a genie who you otherwise have no choice but to kill in self-defense, and become his master, letting him fix most of the damage with his magic - Save the life of the crew that you were travelling with at the start of the game before you got shipwrecked - Make it possible for the protagonist's family to make it to your wedding when you get the girl at the end

Never played the game, but when I saw the dialogue option in this video I assumed it just meant... _not_ bombing corporate buildings or taking strange pills. Yeah, given the context of the main story you'd end up dying, but never _once_ did I think it meant shooting oneself, and even if the game _had_ made it explicit your character would do that, do you really deserve to see all the main characters _berating_ you for it? That's ridiculous. And no, "put to rest" doesn't remotely have to mean suicide. I've seen plenty of people use that exact term just to mean... _stop doing something._
@takeachance5881

@@TristenSarelvun Honestly it just seems like you failed to realize context matters a lot in reading the option, which is not surprising since you wanted to comment without even playing the game. First, V isn't someone who would go out without their own terms. So "putting things to rest" without a blaze into arasaka means ending it before the next fatal glitch happens, doesn't take a genius to realize what the option is. The pills are also very symbolic that it means more than "taking strange pills" when you DO play the game. 2nd, the video msgs are people expressing stages of grief thematically and canonically trying to cope with the suicide, and at very most 2 out of all of them berates V, most are disbelief/sadness. Honestly I donno why you wanted to comment at all when you lack any sort of context and could probably keep those thoughts to yourself and make better judgement with context instead.

Even if you're not sure on the "put all this to rest" part, that icon is very much there to indicate what will happen if you make this choice... And likely by the time you've made it to where you can make the choice, you've picked up on how they use icons in their dialog choices and if one has one you should pay attention to it.

I accidentally got that ending too for basically the same reason. Terrible system, yes, but that's the BEST ending. The universe doesn't die, your actions make it possible for the next cycle to completely break the... cycle. The version of the 'conduit' YOU leave behind is found by the NEXT "Shepard" and they full on, no caveats or half-measures, beat the reapers. Entirely. YOU fight to the end and lose, but you don't have to settle with arbitrary, shoehorned, nonsensical negatives poisoning your "win" outcome.

@@shadenox8164 This was indeed a punishment ending and not the ending people asked for. Also, I didn’t mention this earlier but there is a second method to getting the “Reapers win and next cycle finishes” ending: if you do make a choice in the dialogue, during the part where you walk towards your chosen ending (red blue or green), if you fire your gun at the star child it a cutscene starts where star child disappears and yells “SO BE IT!!!!
