I can completely relate to your comment about beards getting better with age. Through my 20s and 30s I couldn't grow a decent beard if my life depended on it. I could grow a killer goatee and big ol lamb chops but my cheeks were super patchy. It wasn't until in my mid 40s that all of the sudden those patchy areas filled in, almost over nite it seemed. Yeah the beard has some grey in it. But I don't mind. I actually think it gives it character. Honestly I'm just happy to be able to finally grow a full beard, and to see just how majestic it can become.

How do I convince a guy I'm dating that he's shaving his facial hair the wrong way?😅 I don't want to sound cruel I'm just showing concern for him because I care about him. I know guys are secretly insecure about certain things. What do you recommend I say or do?

As a bearded guy myself and have a pretty long beard, i'd like to give some advice, 1: when using oil its not mainly for the hair, its for the skin under neither your beard to replenish any natural oils that has been removed after washing, and can remove that itchy feeling most guys get when starting to grow facial hair 2: I wouldn't recommend balm at a early stage as beard balm is mainly used as a styling product as it has bees wax in it which gives it that hole, but its decent if you have a longer beard if you want a more uniform shape and style, it also contains the same things as oil does, but don't use it as a replacer ALWAYS use beard oil 3: "for more longer beards/maybe short" Beard butter is what i would recommend to use over balm as some butters contain a small amount of bees wax so it still has that styling factor that balm has but not to be used mainly as a styling product, what butter can do is soften up your beard (if with no bees wax included) and like i said before, is not a replacer for beard oil, just can help you do more things with your beard 4: find a style that fits you, what i started off with is finding some inspiration (E.G "BeardTube) I loved the look of his beard and like the square look as his face structure was very similar to mine so i went with it, but while saying this you don't always have to copy them just get inspiration from them and do whatever you want with your beard, maybe try find some videos for beards that match your face shape, like oval,round,long, they all have qualities to fix some things, for example, if you have a rounded head, which with that comes a bit more under chin neck fat maybe go for a longer beard and straighter look to make your head look less round, but experiment, and find what fits you best 5: Get a good morning and night time schedule, like maybe Co-wash (condition) your beard before bed and apply some oil to keep your beard moisturised, but just a quick tip, do no wash your beard daily, wash it like 2 times a week, as when you was your beard you are removing your natural oils in your face and damaging your beard. 6:Try to avoid bad habits like, over washing, over grooming, over heating. 7: don't style it everyday, try keep your beard as natural as possible only really style it if you are going out anywhere fancy and need to neaten it up a little, but if you are staying at home or just going to the store or anything there really is no need to style it (with hairdryer, heat brush, ETC) but always apply product like your oils, you can use a comb to style it a little to give it some shape but you want to mainly use a comb every time you apply oil, to evenly distribute the oils across your face and hairs These are my main tips to keeping my beard and skin healthy, sorry for the long paragraphs but i thought it would help new guys wanting to grow facial hair, or guys who already have it and want to find some tips to improve hope you keep growing my bretherans and stay bearded :)) And just if anyone wants to know i am 19 going 20, with decent facial hair, maybe down to genetics but keep growing, i had patches also but they grew in as i decided to grow it longer.

I wasn’t going to maintain my beard at all until this guy yelled at me. Now I spend 5 hours a day tweaking every other hair into place.

Contradictive to say the least. Don't trim the boundaries until atleast a month otherwise you'll end up with a low beard line which becomes lower and lower trying to keep it straight and symmetrical. After a month atleast then trim the boundaries because you'll often find those scruffy bits should eventually join and cover any patches. You have to realise some hairs in places take a little longer to surface than other places so give it time

I just want to note the difference between beard oil and beard balm is that beard oil is really to moisturize the skin under the beard and balm is for the hair itself, this is coming from a guy with a thick luxurious beard for 3 years now and my sister is a barber and showed me how to care for my beard when I first grew it

That's actually true about the patch. In my early twenties I have a bald patch on my neck. Luckily it wasn't in a bad spot. Anyway later in my later twenties it disappears and now have a thick normal beard
