In this video, Trail talks about the lessons that he learned as he watched archery experts compete in the 2024 Vegas shoot. Trail is always looking to improve his shot and loves to tinker with his equipment, but also knows that paying attention to what archers are doing at the highest level and implementing those learnings to his shooting would definitely benefit his archery skills. So, in this video, we show you the important tips that Trail noted down while watching the pros shoot on the big stage.

If gohunt did a huge community shoot we would all come! Lorenzo(nutrition and fitness) Trail (archery and stalking tactics) , Brady (long range shooting and backcountry logistics, or gohunt maps and escouting) all do seminars! You guys would sell a ton of gear and your community is massive.

Trail, what measurements do you track on your bow setup? I want to make a spreadsheet to track. Fairly new to archery.

Ok crazy question or loaded questions. While practicing for “realistic” shots we will typically gap shoot or sometimes even guess yardage and shoot for feel. We all go through our own shot process but what happens if that animal takes a step and you have to move with maybe a fraction of a second to shoot? At what point do you disregard a stance because you have to move? How often do we draw on an animal and it moves. I hunt out west and hunt elk every year but my stance just comes second nature anymore. I guess my questions are….. 1. How often are you shooting on unstable ground? 2. What does your shot process look like while hunting and having a small window of opportunity vs. shooting at the range with all the time in the world and how much does it differ one to the other.

Would love for you to have Joel Turner @shotIQ on the podcast to discuss the pros and cons of a surprise shot vs. a "command" shot

Great observations. One of the small changes I am making this spring, on both my hunting and target bow, is removing the wrist sling. During hunting season I decided it just got in the way and required that much more (awkward) movement. Curious to find out what you think of the finger sling.

You wouldn't be able to observe this I guess, but I'd be curious what the pros tend to do on weight distribution. I feel like having my weight 60front/40back foot seems to help with accuracy

Do your arrows come out of your bow clockwise or are you fletching your arrows with a right helical for another reason?
