@@timgruver5932 everyone out here in the southeast are just dead set in their ways. It’s hard to find a bow shop that will work with you on what you want to do. Most shops will look down on you for wanting to try what works out west in the whitetail woods. It’s pathetic honestly

This is so great to watch. I love that Tim isn't already an expert. I think a lot of times experts overlook small but important things that they do naturally until it's presented to them by someone who doesn't do those certain things naturally. That makes Tim and Josh such a good combo to learn from. Will be conscious of my head position before drawing now! Also pumped that Josh is getting into YT himself. Looking forward to what I can learn from him in the future!

Not sure if it's the angle of the camera or what. It actually looks to me that when your nose touches the string it's actually going over the string. Could just be me or it could be that it's just more comfortable to you. Great video, just went shooting with my wife today and working on her fundamentals. @garedjennings6509

Your release is set too heavy that's why you're getting too much front end movement with your bow arm because you're having to pull so hard to get it to fire. IMO of course.

@thomascrevier1155
@thomascrevier1155 3 года назад
At the 9 min mark. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think you had to move your head because you were shooting at a pretty steep downward angle. If you were to aim at a target that is further or at the same height of your eyes (meaning that the arrow would be perfectly leveled with the ground at full draw), pretty sure you wouldn't have to move you head that much, your nose would hit the string pretty quick. Ive been tinkering with this and realized that to be consistent on every shot I wouldn't have to draw leveled to the ground to find my anchor at the same exact spot every single time, and then move to the target if it's lower or higher. Do you guys avec any thoughts on this ?
@Mackahroney
@Mackahroney 3 года назад
Pivot your hips, anchors should always be the same
@thomascrevier1155
@thomascrevier1155 3 года назад
@@Mackahroney pivoting the hips for the correct angle while drawing the bow seems complicated no? The easiest way for me would be to draw leveled, anchor, and then pivot
@Mackahroney
@Mackahroney 3 года назад
@@thomascrevier1155 drawing and anchoring first was always before pivoting for me, I probably didnt get your question haha
@thomascrevier1155
@thomascrevier1155 3 года назад
@@Mackahroney in other words you always draw leveled to the ground, anchor, and then pivot your hips if you have to? If you look at Tim, he doesn't draw leveled to the ground (looking at the arrow angle). So he is either really good and correcting the angle of his hips at the same time he's drawing. Or, instead of drawing leveled to the ground, he keeps his bow arm lower so that he aims directly at the target (at a downward angle) after he has completed his draw cycle. If the latter is the case, his head would have to dip further down to find his anchor point, meaning that the distance that his head travels to find his anchor point (nose touching string) would be different on angled shots vs leveled shots, thus changing the relation between head position and peep which would impact POI. Think about it, go to full draw perfectly leveled to the ground, come to anchor. Do the same thing but before anchoring, aim to a lower target by just moving the angle of your bow arm and not pivoting the hips, then come to anchor.. Tell me your head didn't dip further. I hope my explication is clear. Excuse my English, I'm french Canadian

This is like watching any golf lesson in the last 30 years "stand like this, put your hands here, bend more at the waist...blah blah blah". Overly technical with a hint of condescension. That's the "teacher" approach where the instructor is presented as the source of all knowledge - "Let me tell you how to do it". That style of instruction doesn't create lasting improvement, it just creates dependence. You should instead be "coaching" the person on how to find the form and technique that fits them comfortably and is repeatable. It builds self reliance, and creates a form that is more likely to hold up under pressure.

Why would you draw a minute and a half before you shoot. Camera footage I guess. Repeat your shot process as close as you possibly can. If things don't work out, live to shoot another day. Be an ethical hunter every day.
