AEK Athens. Started the decade pretty strong, won the Greek Cup in 2011 I believe but then due to financial issues they found themselves in the third tier of Greek football. In a matter of two season they were back in the top flight and since then they won the Greek Cup, as well as being finalists for the trophy three more times. They also won their first league title in 24 years. Defo a huge decline with a huge comeback as well.

As a fan of Bolton all my life, its sad to see the decline, we've been tossed about between owners for years, and only a donaion from the late Ediie Davies saved us from completed dissolvation. We went from one bad owner to another, who tried to sindle players from other clubs, and eventually when we went into administration, most players left. We had a transfer embargo to also deal with, and at the beginning of the 2019/20 season our squad was 90% youth players, and we were only allowed to sign other players on loan. Its unsurpringing we're so far down now. Recently our manager has left once again, leaving more uncertainty, and he owners seem to still hold an iron fist over the club. Hopefully we do weel in League 2, but as things are going ith finances, we could easily go the way of Bury sadly.

Not as well known as the clubs on the list, but my club Hapoel Tel Aviv suffered an incredible fall from grace this decade. In the 09/10 season we won the league and cup double and finished first in our UEL group beating the likes of Celtic, Hamburg and Rapid Vienna. The following season we qualified for the Champions League for the first time and even managed to beat Benfica 3-0 and drew with Schalke and away to Lyon. However, financial difficulties and a string of questionable owners and managers saw us relegated to the second tier of Israeli football in the 16/17 campaign. At the moment the club is deeply rooted to the bottom half of the Israeli Premier League, however the days of our former success seem long gone by now and our future does not look any brighter.

I want to say what about Palermo, but they were just on decline at the start of the decade :(. Cavanni, Dybala, several others I'm blanking on and one of the most important teams in Southern Italy (and the only "good" Sicilian team)... then relegated, then bared from Serie B due to financial mismanagement and shady owners, and now being reformed as a phoenix team in Serie D. Plus, the world is objectively worse without their pink kits gracing top flight football.

I feel Calciopoli affect football world more than you can imagine, as Serie -A was best league on the planet from 90s till 2006. The plummeting of Serie -A , synonimous with plummeting of the quality of football overall.

Where is panathinaikos?in 2000's we got to champions league quarter finals and we were unlucky that we didn't get to the semifinals in the second match against barcelona we got to the quarter finals of europa league and we lost against the winners special one's porto and we got 2 times first in a champions league group first with arsenal invicibles in 2002 and with inter in 2009 and now the last time we went to champions league was 10 years ago

You have my English team in the list (Sunderland) but have missed out my Spanish side, RCD Mallorca. 15 minutes from a Champions League place ten years ago, they dropped all the way to the fourth tier of Spanish football before clawing their way back to La Liga and are now hovering in the relegation zone

Let’s clear this up. The only game I have watched my team play was a 0-0 home draw in the League 2 (4th tier) against Luton Town, who are now at the bottom of the championship. *We are now 4 divisions and 72 places apart.* My club York City were a National League (5th tier) club at the start of the decade. However they were promoted to the League 2 (4th tier) in 2011-2012, and just survived relegation the following season. They were on the brink of promotion in the 2013-14 season to the third tier via playoff semi-final against Fleetwood (who are still a League 1 club), but we lost. We then steadily declined and 2 seasons later we finished bottom of League 2 and left the football league (tiers 1-4). In the next season (16-17) we were relegated again (finishing 21st in the National League/5th tier) to the National League North (6th tier), where we have struggled for the past 3 seasons. We go into the decade in 2nd, which does not mean automatic promotion, as 2nd-7th have playoffs for the 2nd promotion spot from the National League North. I have hope however, that the next decade will bring light to York City, and we may return to the football league, and perhaps even greater heights! After all, it is football: anything can happen if you have the belief and hope.

Portsmouth's decline is more severe than Sunderland's. Our peak of Europe in 2009, FA Cup finalists and 8 players at the World cup (James, KP Boateng, Mokoena etc) was much higher than Sunderland's. Whilst our nadir of administration twice and relegation to league 2 is more severe as well.

Here Deportivo de la Coruña is missing. One time LaLiga winners, twice Cops del Rey winners, three times Spanish SuperCup winners ending at the Top 10 since the 90s and now at the 22nd position out of 22 in the Spanish Second Division. That is one big decline!

In Brazil there's a club called Portuguesa, which played Brazil's Serie A in 2013. That year they were relegated in the court room because they lost points by using a player who was irregular. So in 2014 they played in the Serie B and were relegated once again. Following year they were relegated yet again from the Serie C to the Serie D. In only 4 years they went from the first division to not playing any national league! And they hit rock bottom now because they were relegated to the Second division of São Paulo's local tournament so they're basically amateur today
