I randomly read Grace Draven’s Radiance a few years ago and loved it. I am not a big romance reader and I hate the miscommunication trope, so it was a delight to find something that is the opposite - love interests talking to each other and working as a team :) There is not much drama, but the slow burn is so enjoyable and the fantasy element is decent, too.

So excited to hear you recommend Grace Draven! Radiance and Phoenix Unbound are some of my favorite fantasy romances. She was actually diagnosed with cancer in 2023 and we're all hoping the best for her recovery ♥

I read Gideon the Ninth and am now reading Harrow the Ninth. Loved Gideon, but have really fallen in love with Harrow (much to my surprise). Glad to know, feeling confused is normal for this book! I think that going to read The Jasad Heir next.

I'm halfway of yumi and the nightmare painter myself! It's my first sanderson book and it's making me wanting to check other of his books! Also, another thing I love are the illustrations by aliya chen ❤ I keep wanting to keep on reading just to find the next illustration hahaha

I JUST finished Harrow the Ninth and it was AMAZING so I’m incredibly excited to pick up Nona the Ninth. Also I read the audiobook and learned that Lyctor is pronounced LICK-tor which I absolutely would not have figured out if I read the physical book alone lol. The narrator for it is SO good if you feel like you need to do another reread.

I’m wondering if you’ve ever seen the anime movie, Your Name. Brandon was heavily inspired by it for Yumi and the Nightmare Painter. It makes sense because that movie was magical and has the freaky Friday elements you mentioned. It’s so funny. I hope u see it if u haven’t!

Thanks for the reviews. I will def. read Yumi. I just read the short story prequel to the Murderbot series, Compulsory. I have book one for this month. What I've read in April: The prequel shorts and book 1 of the Newsflesh series by Mira Grant (aka Seanan McGuire), the second Heartstopper vol.; the second Spy x Family manga, and Nurk, a children's book by Ursula Vernon. I've started book 2 of Newsflesh, Deadline, and the Digger Omnibus, and All Systems Red.

I enjoyed Commonwealth, but not Bel Canto. Although I did listen to the opera song mentioned during one of the intense scenes and reading along with the opera song was an unforgettable experience 🤯

Okay, be honest. Do I need to read other Brandon Sanderson books to read Yumi? It sounds so good, but I didn't love Mistborn. Unless there is a better way to start reading Brandon Sanderson? Any advice is appreciated!!
