It’s more fun to fight them all at once though. Like Penance is technically tougher but ends up being really boring to fight because he’s impossible to beat by conventional means so you just have to cheese him. The fight with the Dark Magus Sisters is always evolving and feels much more strategy based. Same with Nemesis and Dark Bahamut.

@@timyac Speak for yourself. Penance without killing the arms is *by far* the hardest, most engaging, strategic and IMO fun (if you like that kind of challenge) battle of the whole game. Only real issue with it is that you really need Ribbons against Tera-Graviton which is a serious grind if you're not willing to just save-edit them in.

Well, before you start the battle with him you have to sacrifice one patry member to darkja, after that switch out your main members, preferably one knight/bushi with excalibur+bravery+berserk+haste on low hp for attack boost from adrenaline node, and one tank shuri/whitemage for decoy purposes and dispel and probably another semi dps like monk/battlemage and watch him melt before he could do anything, remember to dispel him 1st though

I actually downed Zodiark the first time facing it. The spell animation limit in the original 12 worked wonders against him, i used some scythe motes and some other big attack items to lock him out of casts and just kept smacking him and this was something i discovered with pure luck. Shinryu was really a weird thing for me. Since the Coral Ring lets me absorb Tidal Wave and it always starts with that, I basically used him as a healing spot with a thief and someone fast in my party at all times, letting me try to spam-steal the Dragon Whisker whip while trying to find Movers

In general FF12's esper battles range from easy, to manageable, to hard depending on what level your party is. In my first playthrough it was definitely Zodiark and Chaos but in my recent playthrough it was Cuchulainn. The sap field, his little flan minions, and constant status inflictions (particularly sap + invert + potentially disabled healers) led to many retries. If you didn't have the right gear and try to get him early he's super hard. Not a super boss but neither is Zodiark. I'd say the 5 judge battle was the hardest super boss in that game but that belongs on a list of "7 Super Bosses you Definitely Never Reached the First Playthrough"
@Leoo117
@Leoo117 Год назад
Cuchulainn really is tough. I played zodiac age using no gambits and doing everything myself just for fun, and cuchulainn was the only one I remember me having to give in and put two or three gambits on to heal status effects, because I couldn't keep up with how fast he was inflicting them. It was impossible to keep up without a gambit.

Kukulele is easy if you have enough remedies and you have party members auto casting it on anyone with any sort of negative status
@TheBlackSeraph
@TheBlackSeraph Год назад
Cuchulainn, while not the toughest boss in the game, is certainly one of those bosses that will usually beat you the first couple of times you fight him, even if you are familiar with the game and have fought him multiple times. Between his HP Down field and ability to inflict disease, invert, immobilise/disable, it is way too easy to have a well pre-prepared battle plan fall apart and be stuck on the defensive. My first playthrough of vanilla FF12 I couldn't beat him until I got my party up to level 70, and he gave me more trouble than Zeromus, and even now I usually have to have my party 55-65 to guarantee success. Played Fran only, and even with allowing myself to summon Exodus I think I was level 63, over eight attempts and extremely lucky. Definitely should have been higher than Trial #42.

I never got a game over in either version of FFXII until Trial 86, mainly because of the VERY forgiving system of being able to bring in your backup party if your first 3 characters died (if only other RPGs did the same). Zodiark was definitely a tough fight but getting to it is just as difficult, so it's rare to get there underleveled. Trema is another one where if you've made it to the bottom of the Via Infinito and beaten Paragon, you're probably ready for him, and he's arguably easier than most of the encounters up to that point (especially Chac).

Normally at the end of story mode, you're given a party of 5 and as one falls they get replaced but any HP dmg they did to Feral Chaos was saved. (He had like 120k HP). You got one thing a bit wrong about Ruby Weapon, which is the reason you have so many videos of a party with two downed characters: Ruby would remove two characters from the board at the beginning of battle only, which is why people would start with unconscious characters they could revive. Also, and unforgivably by the developers, Ruby Weapon was invincible until he put his claws in the ground. I stress-tested this with Knights of the Round. They made the encounter deliberately this way, basically cheating in the monster's favor. However, I also learned of his weakness quite a few years ago from a friend and beat him later on.

Most players (myself included lol) would typically opt to just using a Primeval Brew, which more or less granted you God Mode very briefly but even THAT wasn't a guarantee because Shinryu could suddenly start absorbing the damage instead of you weren't careful, and those Brews were very, very expensive and you couldn't carry more than 1. I've beaten his FF5 version, Ruby and Dark Yojimbo, haven't done the others (Zodiark is such a nightmare) but Weiss is absolutely on my to-do list before Rebirth comes out and is much more manageable than you may think. People have solo'd him with Tifa. *EDIT: Honorable mention goes to Rani, also from the Abyssea expansions. OMG she is such a troll I have personally seen her wipe entire alliances in seconds.

I wanted to give more info about Dark Yojimbo (and essentially why Dark Bahamut and Anima are harder): While Zanmato hits really hard and removes all beneficial statuses imcluding Auto-life, there is a way to survive it. Have an aeon with maxed defense of 255, teach it cheer (and protect I think) and increase its health to over roughly 50k. After all the setup, go in the fight ans summon that aeon, cheer 5 times, and when you see that guage full, choose "guard" as its action. It will, surprisingly, survive. This strategy, sadly, doesnt work for Anima as her overdrive is multi hit I believe, Dark Bahamut since his countdown flare kills outright iirc, and if you fight the Dark Magus Sisters together, their overdrive is also multihit, though they can't do it if even only one is down. Essentially you could use an Aeon throughout the whole fight with Dark Yojimbo all 5 times. Side note: Almighty Shinra, while still technically a superboss since Vegnagun was easy, can be absolutely devastated having a fiend with high attack stat, learned Quick Attack and "taught" to only use it, with Spellspring, and auto-haste. The fiend attack animation must also be fast. The gun snakes are an example. Sounds like a lot of set-up, and kinda is, but setup in FFX-2 is easy compared to other FF games in my opinion.

Forgot the name but I would add some of the bosses in Final Fantasy Tactics that came directly after the game asks you if you want to save. There were multiple instances where I had a to completely start brand new save because I was severely underleveled and the save point made it impossible to backtrack and farm.
@PerrenialMillennial

Regarding the Dark Yojimbo fight, you can use your summons as a sacrifice to negate the first attack, then with the cap removed, use Entrust on either Wakka or Tidus, this will end the fight.

I tend to farm for the best items for my party and getting all the ribbons and levelling all the materias to max had taken some time (Don't even get me started about breeding the Golden Chocobo). So yeah Ruby was no problem... Emerald was. Ruby was sitting in that desert area, Emerald you had to fricking find/chase with the fricking submarine :(

Although not technically a FF super boss, Alpha Weltall after Deus in Xenogears is another super hard fight that you're supposed to lose, but can be beaten with the right strategy (and luck), he even has a chance to drop a unique item if you beat him! (Not 100% drop rate unless you get another item from a previous boss which is also not 100% drop rate...) You also have to pick up certain items from a shop in disc 1 that you don't know that you need for a later fight, and they are very expensive as well, but miss getting these and the shop restocks the next time you get to it. 😅

If it was truly X then you were trying to probably get the pieces to obtain them for your party since the only person who has access to them before you is the summoner who gives Yuna advice each time she gets a new Aeon (she is also the one that has Yuna test fight them against her own). If it was X-2, then you were at the end game stage and maybe you didnt have the right kits to beat them at that time so you just kept getting wiped.
@AdonanS
@AdonanS Год назад
@@LovelyLina034 It was X, but that wasn't the reason. I remember I unlocked all the Aeons, including the sisters. I think it had something to do with one of the characters' ultimate weapon, but I'm not even sure of that as I vaguely remember having all the weapons (I know I at least had most of them). Ironically, I was trying to prepare to take on the Dark Aeons and that one enemy from the monster arena that's supposed to be the hardest enemy in the game. What sucks is that I accidently deleted my save before I could take on those enemies. Probably close to 100 hours, if not over that threshold, and it all went up in smoke. I never picked the game up again after that, but one day I'll finish what I started for nostalgia if nothing else.

5:58 The final Feral Chaos fight in Dissidia was the most fun I've ever had in a 3D Arena Fighter. After I beat him I started using CWCheat to set enemy HP to 120,000 for normal fights. As an aside, the Jade Dissonance Feral Chaos halfway through Scenario 012 was far and away the hardest fight in the game for me. I deliberately set my character's levels relatively low and consequently couldn't get strong gear, and after a minute and a half you just *can't* damage him anymore like that, so I had to dodge like mad and spam HP attacks. Eventually I found the CWCheat code/mod that let's you play as normal Chaos too. Good times. Edit: I also used CWCheat to beat the intro Feral Chaos once. The game still treats it like you lost, even if you win.

I'd just like to give a nod to Chac from FFX-2. Not only does she hit extremely hard with massive physical attacks and Heaven's Cataract, she can turn you to Stone EVEN IF YOU ARE IMMUNE TO IT. You practically need Cat Nip + Gunner Mode, Lady Luck flinching, or Bribe + who-knows-how-many gil to beat her regular version on floor 80 of Via Infinito. Because of this, most people (including myself) recommend you Oversoul Chac when you face her in that fight. That way you won't have to worry about Heaven's Cataract or getting stone-shattered. The worst part? She shows up as a RANDOM ENCOUNTER from floors 81-84, AFTER you beat her on floor 80. That means you either need to run far, far away from her, or be ready to rinse and repeat the tedious process of beating her AT ALL TIMES! The real complicated part is that on floors 81-99, you could instead run into an Elder Drake, Mega Tonberry, Mushroom Cloud, or any other cheap monster as a random encounter. DO NOT sleep on Chac, guys.

When it came to the Dark Aeons that were in FFX-2 (That was due to Shuyin's actions basically ripping them back up from the grave), I was actually so overleveled from grinding exp that I was able to completley wipe each Aeon I came across. That and I played FFX so much that I knew what kits each Aeon had and I knew how to counter each one. I didnt know that you could actually run from The Magus Sisters (they are my fav Aeon set since its a broken Trio) so that you can fight them one by one, but imo that makes it way too easy since in FFX you fought them all at the same time. Also Trema HOLY MOLY I beat him the first time as well but that was due to the fact that I had the official BradyGames guidebook for FFX/FFX-2 and there was a section about Trema and how to beat him. Long story short you have to max out all 3 party members to lvl 99 and you also have to max out a few of the dressspheres for SPECIFIC PARTY MEMBERS. I still remember the cycle of "Heal, attack, attack, dodge, heal" and so on.

If I had to choose a ridiculous boss I don't think you've covered before, it would probably be Magic Master from FF6. Just really unreasonably hard if you don't know what you're in for. However, similar to others you've talked about, if you go in knowing what to expect and have a plan (or follow an online guide), it can be a pretty trivial fight. Still, I wanted to pick one from my nemesis, FF6, and I figured that side-boss is one of the most difficult in the World of Ruin. There are probably others, but FF6 needs more love in this video series imo.

Mega Flare in tandem with Chaos's arena and Feral Chaos's sheer size made him a sitting duck. Is it a cop-out strategy? Sure. Did I have much of a choice? Not really.
