@@CarsintheFuture_ Hi, I appreciate that. Unfortunately I am SO backed up and busy all the time running my business that individual mentorships are not really an option for me at this time. I just do not have the time without cutting out other things. Which would mean it would ve very expensive mentoring for me to be able to do that. I appreciate the interest, just not enough time in the day for me which is why I run this channel and groups for now. :)

Hi wade so happy to have found you! I have been making beeswax candles for a year now and still struggle with consistency. Since watching you I believe that part of my problem is that my wicks are often “clogged” . Do you suggest ply 60 for candles that are 2” across or more?

The biggest issue I have with candles is after I light them. Every single time a portal erupts and out pops a demon. Not a bad issue except they don't leave when the candle is gone, constantly talking, eating, and refusing to play a game a Risk. I kid, but informative video, like usual.

Thanks for the great tips! May I please know or get an idea on why Soy or some types of waxes are harder to wick?
@BlackTieBarn
@BlackTieBarn Год назад
Check out my first ever wicking video. It goes into detail. But it's basically because of its molecular structure. Some waxes are more viscous and just need more heat or thicker wick, etc

One time I made a candle and it had a terrible chemical odor when it burned. I used the FO with some other wax and it was fine. I was always curious what might have happened there.
@BlackTieBarn

Could have been the wax. Or could have been the wicks used with that specific wax. Or... could have been a bad/old bottle of FO unless it was the same bottle for both

@BlackTieBarn

@BlackTieBarn

What do you think about mixing a half cup of coconut oil to a pound of beeswax? I hear that it helps with consistency and slower burning.
@BlackTieBarn
@BlackTieBarn Год назад
Coconut oil won't help with slower burning. Beeswax burns slow already. Coconut oil will lower the melt point and make it softer if that's what you're wanting
@kman8271
@kman8271 Год назад
@@BlackTieBarn I don’t honestly know. I’m just starting out. What do you recommend and why don’t you use beeswax? (Just curious)
@BlackTieBarn
@BlackTieBarn Год назад
@@kman8271 beeswax is good to blend with waxes, but its such a hard wax its usually used for standalone pillar candles. Many mix it with some soy or coconut though to make it soft enough for a container candle. I just dont use much beeswax as it doesnt hold scent well (has a distinct scent in itself). Its just a different kind of candle, nothing wrong with it... just not the kind i make typically

I watched a video where the person was complaining about a well know candle company. Her candle was not burning evenly. The first thing I noticed was the top of the jar was black from soot. I cannot imagine if that happens a lot because is not healthy for one thing but the mess it can cause in the house. Again, one of the most well known companies made this candle. I burned many in my day. Could it be from the wick not trimmed properly or it was under a draft, fan maybe. She did not mention the soot???

When my wick drowns out it’s because the oil is too concentrated, so I add wax to dilute it and that gives me more candles.
