My issue is a noise that only happens in gears 1 - 4 and goes away in gear 5 & 6. This video doesn't explain that scenario.

1 of the nose happens in neutral but stops when you press the clutch in the others is a rattling sound which switching gears. The only issue is the noise no slipping or grinding slightly bumpy but I don’t think that is the transmission

I have a new 2023 GTI that makes weird gear noise in neutral. Manual gearbox. Been thinking of taking into the dealership and asking questions. Typically gear box is always a tad noisy though.

Hello. What would your impression be if, say, you do a hill start (1st gear) and as soon as you give gas at the biting point, you get a humming noise? The said noise does not happen on flat road surfaces. Hoping you could provide some insights. Thanks!

I have a gearbox bearing noise at any gear, but only when I'm not accelerating... The noise becomes noticeable after a few minutes, when oil is hotter (i supose) and when I put it in neutral the noise goes away

can analyze the damage to the following manual transmission. 5 speed and 1 reverse gear 1. neutral is not noisy 2.Gear 2 slightly hums, gear 3 and 5 hum Only the sound of the gas being stepped on when the gas is released, there is no sound 3.Gear 4 is not noisy normally Can you analyze it? I hear a spinning/whirling noise whenever the car is moving but coasting, either in neutral (clutch in or out) OR when clutch is pressed in, and still in gear (any gear). kind of goes away when it warms up. can't figure out what is making that noise.

I switch my DMF to a SMF and of course, with al the kit new on my Zafira B 1.9 cdti, and i have some "grinde" and "knock-knock" noise on idle ! :(( When i rise the rpm or normal driving the transmission is quiet and ok, and also in every gear change!How bad it is ? :((

What could cause my car too sound noisy when travelling between 40-45mph specifically? It sounds like its revving higher but this isn't registering on the rev counter. It doesn't matter if my car is in gear or not and doesn't matter what gear. If I am travelling at 50mph and take my foot of the gas, as the car slows down to 45mph the noise increases and then disappears when it goes below 40mph. Very odd!

Hi I have a question when I shift gears even when the car is off it makes some clunking sound somedays it dissappear sometimes early in the morning when the car was at rest it doesn't have that sound after driving for a while it comes back it makes the sound on all the gears.

i got an used gearbox in order to replace my own gearbox since my own gearbox needs bearings to be replaced.... but this used gearbox that i got...has a wierd noise when u reach a certain speed(it slowly gets noticed)...it doesnt sound like an used bearing..sounds different...usualy at high speed....not really sure what is causing that noise...(only gearbox ive replaced and the sound comes from it 100%) in the meantime...im planning to restore my gearbox by replacing all the bearings and putting it back..(hopefully) also i noticed something after a while....i think it loses oil from the top... maybe a sealing is not a sealing anymore..(didnt even checked them before i installed the gearbox on the car,totaly my fault...that i thought that gearbox was in good health..)

My sound comes when clutch is up, when I press it down sound goes. I have replaced the release bearing. I'm pretty sure now it's the gearbox do U think Lucas transmission oil will help.

I have noise coming from my gear box when shifting gears.

I noticed a year ago some wired noise just like going fast in reverse while i release the throttle at 4-5k rpms in 2nd gear. Now seems like some teeth rubbing there randomly for few seconds also when downshift to 2nd or release the throttle at relatively high rpms. I am thinking some bearings are gone and shafts have some excessive play. Or maybe worst.Syncros or sleeves or the whole assembly need replacement. I can't do the job myself so i need to buy the parts before i bring the car to the shop because i live in a country where i can't find anything other than fake oil and filters. I used the car a lot on short track mainly in 2nd gear. Now i will pay the price big time

My 2018 honda fit automatic transmission makes noise only when i am driving below 5 mph for example coming to a stop or driving under bumper to bumper traffic. If i give just some acceleration it goes away. It comes with or with out brakes. What could be the reason.

I have an automatic 2011 honda freed spike. There is a sound coming from the gearbox when the drive gear is engaged and it increases when i accelerate. The car is however performing perfectly in terms of speed and power. One mechanic checked the gear oil and observed some iron filings.

Great video, I have a question please, I have a little whining on 6 gear (manual) at about 100 km/h but only if I let go of the gas pedal, if I press the gas pedal even slightly the whining disappears, the whining is also there on other gears at same speed but less obvious than being on 6 gear, what bearing inside the gearbox you reckon is causing that? 2003 Neon SRT4 here. I have a knocking noise that only goes away when I put the car in gear and drive. Think it's my flywheel that came loose ? I see you didn't really cover the clutch on here much at all and yes it's manual btw.

Only noise in 60 kmph

When in neutral i hear a whining noise that gets louder correspondingly to how much i accelerate. When in drive i hear noise also, and gurgling noise if i accelerate hard.. In drive my acceleration is weak, and RPM will not go up much in drive unless i stomp on pedal for a downshift, and it is very jerky. However in neutral it will rev easy and smooth. What do you think? It is a Lexus iS RWD

So my car only makes nosie when any gear is selected but the car also refuses to move in any gear. Is this still a fluid problem or something more? I was driving and changed gear after making a turn and suddenly the car wouldn't move in any gear and made a horrible noise. Any help would be appreciated you seem very knowledgeable on transmissions

Hi. Great training setup. Question. Scania series 2, PTO setup with hydraulic pump. Was running pto for couple hours and when finished turned off but still had bad noise. No oil in gearbox, replaced oil but now gearbox has a really bad whine in first 3 gears in both high and low. Any idea? Maybe gears or is PTO issue?

Hi, could this be a gearbox bearing or throw out bearing noise. In neutral there's a noise, push the clutch in and the noise goes away. When driving as the clutch moves away from the biting point the noise appears, when I press it in while driving just pass the biting point the noise is gone. 1st gear loud howling type of noise 2nd gear noise is abit quieter 3rd gear much more quiet 4th gear can barely hear it 5th gear very light humming noise
