Reviews of clothing, boots, and accessories for men, along with style advice and life philosophy. I've been working with my hands for my entire life as a mechanic, tow truck driver, and eventually a licensed electrician. Being a blue collar guy, I look for certain elements in a product: is it durable? Is it high-quality? Will it perform well over its service life? Whether boots, pants, jackets, or tools I believe it's best to buy once and cry once by getting the best you can afford. With so many options these days, choosing the best product can become a difficult decision, but that's where I come in. Helping you stay stylish, rugged, and handsome.
I don't care where it's made as long as it's made well and allows you to own less and own better.

My favorite mechanical pencil is the "Zebra DelGuard Mechanical Pencil" from Japan. The tip has springs in it that retracts the lead when too much force is applied. While still possible, this reduces the amount of lead breakages. Can find them for $7.

Give the Skillcraft B3 Aviator pen a try. It’s a solid brass, black ink, red ink, and mechanical pencil with eraser in one. Been using them in the military for the last 20 years and I can say it’s a great edc. Very tough.

Simple. Efficient. Gets the job done. And a pleasure to work with. Kind of like you, Bing. I started shopping for field books for my son-in-law, thought “ hey I could use some of these” and the trip down the rabbit hole ended with me thinking about how I could swing that leather jacket. I look at all the makers that you recommend and am blown away by the dedication, excellence and heart they represent. And date I say it: proud of these United States that in surrounding ourselves with freedom we also found our creative freedom across North America. Shucks. My jingoistic heart swells with pride. Thank you, Bing, for everything.

I personally use a Victorinox Rambler (keep it on my keychain) and it has been fantastic. I use the scissors and the toothpick daily. And the blade is so small, that it is legal in pretty much every country and region.

Came to say the same thing. Give the smaller knives away, people will use them 50x more. The tweezers, toothpick, and scissors get used nearly everyday. I own about 20 of the 2nd knife he showed.

That Mighty Hanks is a great idea! Cotton side for wiping the sweatband of my fedoras and my brow. Microfiber side for cleaning my sunglasses. All while walking my border collies. The smaller than normal for a hanky size actually makes them more useful while walking as there isn't a boatload of fabric to re-fold before stuffing it back into my pocket. Great find Carl!

I use the Hav-A-Hank handkerchiefs, and they’re quite nice. I can see the benefit of having microfiber added to the backside for sure; it just adds a whole other level of absorbency.

I actually buy paracord usually around 100 ft at a time. Use it for everything from boot laces to guy-lines for antennas and keep the extra in my bag with me. The hanks i find are to expensive for my average use so i just stick with bandanas. Around $5 so when they get worn-out im not really worried. Those books ill definitely be looking into, having those charts and the different layout of pages could be very handy. Thank you for the video!!! Cheers 🍻

I use the peet boot dryer myself, made in USA since the 60's, only $50, and won't hurt your boots. The only thing is that it's slow, you gotta leave your boots on them overnight. My boots are warm in the morning, and they don't smell like feet.

Great job Carl. Try a Civivi Button Lock Elementum. $60 bucks and thin in the pocket yet a good sized hollow ground blade. I have lots of expensive EDC blades but this is the one I carry most of the time.

I concur on the Victorinox rec. small ones, Alox, or the venerable Climber. I had a Cadet but I sacrificed it in a watch deal I made. Replaced with the Pioneer Alox. Another great choice is the tinker, the Spartan, or the Climber. All reasonable form factor that you throw in your pocket or car glove box. eDc pens. An obsession of mine lately. I have a few Fishers, including the bullet, though I like the CH4. But here is a hack if you need the write upside down functionality of fisher. The fisher refill is compatible with the Parker Jotter, if you use a plastic adaptor. So if you have a Parker Jotter or some other pen that takes a Parker style refill, you can put a fisher refill in it. I have a small bolt action pen in my car with a fisher refill. Edit. You can also mod a Zebra F701 to fit a fisher refill pretty easily. Then you have a colicky, all metal pen with a fisher refill for about $16

Those aluminum scales and definitely sexy on the victorinox but The Climber has so much more utility with not much more bulk. The corkscrew is often the only tool in my toolbox to get a small part unstuck from a confined space. The scissors are indispensable, I keep one in my first aid kit because after a table saw accident I found those scissors to be better in all medically associated cutting than scissors made specifically for surgical and medical use.

The rite in the rain pen ink cartridge has a rough textured ball at the pen tip and the space pen ink cartridges has a smooth tip ball. They are essentially the same other then that. The rite in the rain is a little better at writing in inclement weather situations.

You can also use Fisher refills in Parker Jotter and similar pens that take the Parker style refill. You just use a plastic adaptor fisher supplies in its refills.

Hi Carl, long time subscriber and I really enjoy your channel. I was wonder what you thought would be a quality work boot in the $150-300 range? I have currently outgrown my 8” Carolina loggers and in search of a 6” work boot for property management work. Thanks.
@CarlMurawski
@CarlMurawski Год назад
If you're willing to go a tad higher, seriously consider the Franks Patriot, the JK 300, or the Drews logger. They're all slightly different but tremendous values! If you need to stick with the $150-$300 have a look at the Jim Green Razorback- thats still my favorite budget work boot.

Great and informative list. Are any of these, by chance, made in the USA? I figure the Victorinox is made in Switzerland, and I could see that the boot dryer is "imported"--probably made in China.

There is no point using anything above a bic pen if you work in the feild. You will lose them, break them, have them get borrowed and not returned etc.

cheap ballpoint pen that still has a quality writing feel the simple seven buck parker jotter. been going for over sixty years, refills are cheap as well. I write with a fountain pen and the jotter is my go to BP. some people spend fortunes on fancy ball points sometimes often costing hundreds, absolutle waste of money, the jotter does it all.
