Red Bull always has a #2 driver though - one of then would be the favourite, and the other would get frustrated at not being able to unleash his full potential.
would have been a disaster and we wouldn't have the Sewis content we have nowadays... Lewis wouldn't go there and voluntary be the 2nd driver and Seb wouldn't want someone in the team to challenge for his 1st driver status... would have been like Hamilton vs Rosberg and Rosberg would have been a 3x or more times WDC as Lewis didn't join Mercedes.
@@kristoffer9873 Lewis also seems to play down Ron Dennis’ involvement in him being in F1. When he first joined Mercedes he was all about Ross Brawn, than later on as Ross left, he got close to Lauda. But at the time the story was all about Ross visiting Lewis at his Mum’s home to talk final bits of the contract
@@fiarandompenaltygeneratorm5044 that’s a lie, Niki Lauda and Toto Wolf have gone on record in interviews explaining Niki Lauda had to convince Lewis to leave McLauren. THAT is well documented
Bianchi signed a sauber contract at the 2014 japanese gp but they wanted to wait until after the race to announce it but due to his horrific crash they didn't announce it and it never happened #JB17 Edit:this likely would have led to a 2017 ferrari seat
He was probably going to partner Marcus Ericsson since the team signed him up for the money in 2015 In 2016, although that's really questionable, i could EASILY see Haas signing Bianchi alongside Grosjean, since they are a Ferrari powered car and essentially Ferrari's B-Team (or C-Team if you count Sauber as the B one) 2017 he would either go to Ferrari in Kimi's place or stay with Haas From 2018-2020 we would see Charles arriving in F1 and probably clinching his hands on the Ferrari seat first than Jules But as Seb leaves the Tifosi for 2021, the slot is open for a certain frenchmen racing by the number 17 to partner along with his godson Charles Leclerc for a season where Ferrari was going to chase improvements and maybe be a serious contender for 2022's new F1 era
It's really sad what happend to him. But let's put hes accident away and face the reality he wasn't that particular good of a driver. Would've been seated in F2 or lower F1 seats like Haas.
People forget Bottas was red hot in his early career at Williams and absolutely was the clear option for the Merc seat in 2016, and arguably has continued to do enough to keep his seat, although think this is his last.
@Harshil Patel People wilfully ignore bottas' quality because it negates the notion that Hamilton is merely lucky throughout his career. It's not like he entered the spoke against pound for pound the best driver in f1 at the time.
@@Bahamuttiamat hamilton is top 5 but he aint the best, hes definitely not better than shumacher and Senna was probably better, and I'd argue verstappen is better as well. Its hard to tell just with how much better Mercedes car is then everyone elses.
Imagine if Lewis left for Red Bull in 2013, chances are Vettel would've left for Mercedes because he doesn't like having a teammate he's not comfortable with, and Vettel could've gotten more titles. Something to think about.
@@spen8259 Kubica was as good as Hamilton I'd don't think you realize how good he was. Alonso was only seen as good because he'd had Massa as a teammate lmao and he lost to Bottas 3 years in a row.
@@flintey360 I don't think Kubica was Hamilton level talent but he definitely had WDC potential. He would probably be better than Rosberg was at his peak and a bit worse than Kimi at his peak. Maybe more consistent than Kimi but a little less pace. Problem with Hamilton is his current version has developed so much he would absolutely destroy Hamilton from 07-14. With Kubica his development as a driver is hard to predict.
@@flintey360 bro...? Alonso finished with the same amount of points as Hamilton is his McLaren season and then went on to destroy a whole lot of teammates like raikonen, massa, and a whole pack of other teammates. He is one of the fastest ever drivers but unlucky career choices made him only win 2 titles
@@estebancolle5557 Rookie Hamilton btw. Losing to Trulli before he was kicked and how can you flex him beating Massa. He lost to Bottas lmao... Massa was treated as no.2 by this point. Anyways still rate him as a driver but massively overpraised compared to other drivers like Seb or Lewis.
@@ciaronsmith4995 in 2006 he was only on 4 races, in 2007 he was a rookie without much experience, and in 2009 gap was kinda small. I'm not saying that Heidfeld was bad, I'm just saying that Kubica was less experienced then.
Alonso was Brawn's first choice too. Ross Brawn revealed recently that he still has anxiety over the fact that Alonso only has two titles when to his name. To say that Ross Brawn is an Alonso fan is an understatement. And considering Alonso was Brawn's biggest headache when he was at Renault and fighting Ferrari, that's a 180-degree turn.
Just imagine Alonso went to brawn gp and won the title and then wins 7 consecutive titles. That would be 10 titles, crazy. Indeed fernando is the king of bad team choices.
In an alternate universe, Alonso signed for Brawn in 2009, and stayed in Mercedes until 2021, with 11 championship titles and being regarded as the greatest motorsport legend of all time
8. Matthew Gallagher to Mercedes 2015: After winning the world title for HRT for 6 years in a row, Mercedes wanted the Brit to drive alongside Lord Mahaver Ragunathan. He had been talking to team boss toto wolff since the 2011 British grand Prix. Unfortunately, Matthew had a stroke which put him in a coma for 2 years after raging at Aarava for crashing him out on F1 2014 which means he never got that Mercedes drive. But luckily after 457000 surgeries he managed to sign for Jaguar in 2017. He won 3 world titles up to this day.
I wish a move for Sebastian to Mercedes happened. He had a bunch of good races during his time at Ferrari. But ultimately the extremely poor handling of the car kept him from winning two more titles
The one that shocked me was the Alonso one and the Hamilton one because if Alonso would be in the Brawn Gp team which later became Mercedes he would have won many titles, while Red bull inspite of struggling in 2014 would again make a quite competitive car in 2015 and if Hamilton had went to RedBull then we would have seen RedBull vs Mercedes for Constructors honours and Hamilton vs Alonso for the Drivers honours, which could have become one of the greatest rivalries in F1 history which would have been among the likes of McLaren and Ferrari, Senna and Prost and Schumacher and Hakkinen
Alonso was Ross Brawn's first choice too. He said this at that time: “I think he’s the best driver in F1 because of his balance of experience and ability. There are three very quick drivers who have established themselves so far in F1. There’s Lewis Hamilton, there’s Kimi Raikkonen and Fernando. If you look at those three for a team in our position, where we have a strong rebuilding process going on, then we need a driver with strong development capacity, experience and absolute speed. Fernando has all of those things.”
Omg imagine how different the last decade’d be if Alonso signed for Honda that became Brawn after 2008 and then Mercedes after 2009 and if Kubica signed for Ferrari ...
it's probably for the best the Schumacher/Mclaren fusion didn't happen, if only to avoid fans worldwide complaining about the same car winning once Newey & Schuey joined forces... Good grief.
wait, you forgot about Senna in Ferrari... it seemed like there was a contract going on for 1995 or 1996, but then we all know what happened in 1994 :'(
Lewis didn’t leave McLaren on good terms after he spoke about the car aka calling it a pig As well as bagging the team he was kinda booted which is why Red Bull didn’t really want him
Way before your time, but apparently, Senna (Ayrton, not his nephew) promised Giancarlo Minardi he would spend his last year in F1 at Minardi. That would have been great to see.
I remember when Whitmarsh gave an interview in 2012 claiming he -"knew for a fact" Hamilton was regretting his move to Mecedes, and was considering getting back to McLaren...
Imagine if Alonso said yes to honda hed probably retire from Mercedes this year maybe having 10 titles. MASSIVE 💥💥💥 That scenario would fit a man of his skills better.
3:16 well, it was not that clear, his race pace was ok, but in Quali he was way off the pace from his rookie teammate - George Russell. Kubica eventually scored the only point for Williams in that year and quite sadly, the last point Williams has recieved since to this date.
@@felixbenner1113 well the best drivers always get the best car. And by the way Lewis has once. His first year with Mercedes. It was an OK midfield car during that time and he still won
If us racers get hurt we find a way around it to race *( I’ve known racers in wheelchairs that drove hand controlled race cars )* I’ve had a broken foot needing surgery since September of 2020 but I still race everyday on my simulator I push the load-cell with my heal to stop the car, I’ll be glad when my foots fixed soon I’ll be heal toeing it during recovery which I’m not great at unless there’s a shifter and clutch involved but F1 paddle shifters and heal toe that’s gonna be a learning curve I think
I can't find the comment, but someone was suggesting that Hamilton would've stolen all four of Vettel's titles had they been teammates at the time. Vettel's 2011 and 2013 seasons saw him win more than half of the races, DNF only once and finish 4th or better in the other 18 races. Nobody would've been able to come into that team and beat him during those years. Hamilton might've won the 2012 WDC had he been with Red Bull, because all he needed that year was a more reliable car. As for 2010, that was a year in which we had 3 top teams that could win on any given weekend and the drivers made a difference. Furthermore, Hamilton never finished ahead of Alonso in the drivers' championship during that span, and Alonso cemented himself as the second-best driver of the early 2010s by finishing second to Vettel in the championship 3 times.
Could I say Barrichello in McLaren 1995, even previously than Schumacher?? What could have happened with Hakkinen and Barrichello in the end of 90s, and also with Schumi without the back protection of Barrichello in the earlies 2000s?
@@gigsawsoljier1408 around the time of the offer which was 1990 for the 1991 season it would've been Patrese and Alesi or Alesi and Mansell. He wanted Ferrari more.
