I wouldn't say that, yes he regained his confidence but his career opportunities are looking pretty ropey he's either got to stay at red bull b team and slap up whatever rookie redbull have or settle for a Williams drive or something similar so IMO disagree
@@pandre5458 fair enough. It's more likely that the confidence thing has mostly motivated my thoughts. Seeing him be happy at AlphaTauri, nabbing a race win and maturing significantly? It's hard to argue with that.
You should’ve added Nelson Piquet Jr. swapped with Romain Grosjean in 2009. While the swap wasn’t really shocking, the repercussions were just that: Piquet used his firing as a way to expose Renault for fixing the 2008 Singapore Grand Prix which ultimately lead to one of the biggest scandals in F1 history. I’m actually producing a video on it as we speak haha
@@jakemorandthemomoz8154 Toto will make sure George understands his position as second driver for a year or two to became the first driver when Lewis retires
Well if you have bottas in you're team for alot of money and you see Hamilton in you're junior team for wayyyyy less money.. Obviously you would pick Hamilton
Indeed they had Max but the realized they could not hold unto Max much longer if he stayed at Toro Rosso with the Sainz family stirring up the team. So they swapped them with full backing as well. It paid off
However, when you think about it. Benetton 91, Renault 04 and Renault 2017 is all "The Enstone Team". They have had a lot of fancy stuff over the years.
The thing that confuses me about the Albon Gasly swap is that Kvyat had been demolishing Albon when he was at torro rosso, I think that Albon only beat Kvyat in a race twice. Daniil should have been promoted, not Albon
Comparing Kvyat's run before and after the swap, I think that really hurt him. He was definetely the best Toro Rosso but at the second half of the season he began torpedoeing people again
This could easily be the Briatore Bunch - as well as the Trulli-Villeneuve and Moreno-Schumacher swaps, there's Piquet jr-Grosjean in 2009 at Renault and Johnny Herbert twice! Firstly being replaced by Emanuele Pirro in 1989 but then coming back to Benetton in 1994 to replace Jos Verstappen - father of Max. As has been mentioned by others in this thread, dropping Nelson Piquet jr eventually lead to Flavio's downfall - so at least some good came of that one.
Kvyat still is one of the biggest young losses of the sport, hes super fast, especially in his first stint in red bull, but he was making mistakes,a season more and i think everything would be different, but the red bull team were eager to take max no matter what and i dont blame them, but kvyat definitely would be a multiple race winner now
Too bad there's no enough seats because Albon and Kyvat are both good. I didn't like Kyvat at first be he grew on me and he improved his results the 2nd half of last year. But all I could say was "too late".
@@Mr2it3881 With me its the exact opposite: I thought "That looks promising" when first seeing Kvyat but he grew on me... in the wrong direction. Hes good, but there are at least 10 guys in the lower Formulas that can match is talent projection.
He should've also added Frentzen out Alesi in(2001) Frentzen moved from Jordan to Prost while Alesi moved from Prost to Jordan. Salo in Schumi(1999) out well it was not basically because Schumi was not performing well but his accident at 1999 British Grand Prix left him with a fractured leg. Luca Badoer out Fisichella in(2009) Badoer was drafted in to replace the injured Massa but because of his bad performances he was swapped with the Force India driver Giancarlo Fisichella.
I think during the summer break Mercedes will look at the constructor's championship standings and announce a swap for the first race after the break...
Why do I keep thinking that Kvyat got demoted because he got in a fistfight? Is this something I just dreamed up, I could have sworn I heard it somewhere?
I swear Frentzen appeared for a race in every back marker team after he left Jordan. I swear he drove for Sauber, Arrows and Prost all in one season. Do I remember that wrong?
I am a JV fan, but that swap made no sense. The Renault that year was notoriously difficult to drive and suited Fernando more than anyone else (and even he had his woes), plus factor in that JV had been out of action for the best part of the year and had already signed for Sauber in 2005. Maybe sacking Trulli was unavoidable (well Flavio was in charge and we all know how he works) but it made no sense to bring in JV as surely there was a reserve driver more familiar with the car. It also made no sense for JV other than getting used to F1 machinary again. I do think JV took the drive because he wanted to knock BAR off their place in the championship that year. He may have still held a grudge.
if both bottas and mercedes keep treating each other badly especially from mercedes' side yeah of course we'll see the swap with mr. saturday's strong performance every race
The 2005 Red Bull driver swaps are not too far off what Ligier did in 1995 with Martin Brundle and Aguri Suzuki. Also, whenever Suzuki raced, Brundle would have his first forays in the commentary box with Murray Walker.
Ligier did musical chairs with drivers 10 years before Red Bull with Martin Brundle and Aguri Suzuki sharing the second seat during the 95 season, the later to keep Mugen Honda happy IIRC.
There is no clear enough lack of pace to justify replacing Bottas mid season. (Atleast so far.) He’s been extremely unlucky but they still kind of need him to help secure both championships this year. Russel’s skills are undoubtedly good but the dynamic between him and Hamilton is unknown as well as how he handles the pressure of delivering top tier performance from race to race in a team where he’d likely be a second driver.
I still think that repromoting Kvyat would have been the better move. He was a decent driver at Red Bull and could bring the Red Bulls closer. Red Bull suffered with 3 years of almost rookies not keeping up with their #1 driver.
Because he was so far back that they could put new softs on without damage. He got 1 point for p10 and nothing for fastest lap. What people seem to forget is that RBR took the fight to Ferrari with RIC/VES and took second place in the constructor championship --> $$$. That would never have happened wit Kvyat.
There were so many mid-season driver swaps, you could easily make one of these videos for each decade... I mean, in the early 90's alone, there were so many. Just look at Jordan in '93: Rubens Barrichello had five different teammates over the course of that season! During that season, Häkkinen replacing Andretti at McLaren after 13 races turned out to be quite important, too. He immediately outqualified his teammate, a certain Ayrton Senna, who had dominated Andretti by one to two seconds in each qualifying before that.
Having my morning coffee, head over to RU-vid, and all of the sudden there's a Pengu cameo in my WTF1 video. Genuinely wonder what the Venn diagram of Siege and F1 fans look like. 2021 is a wild ride. (4:04)
What about Alain Prost fired before the end of the 1991 season with Ferrari after being not so complimentary about that years car? Or Nigel Mansell and the 1995 McLaren debacle where he couldn't fit into the car at first and they was sacked after 2 races
Could be possible that Bottas is transferred halfway through, but insanely unlikely considering I think merc want Russel to have more experience…Maybe after what happened with Gasly and Albon at Red Bull.
@@AkilahHussain169 How would Russell get more experience in a Merc if he isn't driving a Merc? And while Sakhir may have been a one-off, it clearly shows that Russell won't need much experience in a Merc to go fast.
