I love sewing scraps together to make a patchwork piece and then make doll clothes or wall art. My mother made pin cushions stuffed with fabric that are heavy enough to be pattern or paper weights.

Oh yes yes, I have done my own resin buttons on the channel, but not fabric covered ones yet. I have seen some very simple kits for it and it looks pretty straight forward. Imagine having a bit of wonderful print left over and turning it into a gorgeous set of buttons! He he, we are both excited now, lol 😂

I only just watched your resin button video yesterday, so that's probably why it was in my mind! 😂 I also recently watched an old Q&A you did where you mentioned you used to live in Manchester and highly recommend Abakhan fabrics - I discovered them last October when I was in Manchester, which is before I found your channel! These are refreshing! I use mine for inside pockets and trim. The fabric pockets show a bit on the outside and people want to know where I “bought” my pants. 😊. Also, I use scraps inside hems. It’s so pretty when I take off a pair of jeans I’ve made to glance down at the hem and see a floral print. But I love your ideas! I’m not quite brave enough yet to attempt making a top, but it’s on my list.

@@rachelburgener819 You’ll want to practice first which is a great way to use up more scraps. I think she may have a video about it already. Basically you leave open a wee bit of the appliqué and stuff it. Just push in tiny scraps with a pen or other pokey tool until you like it and can still finish stitching it down. It takes a lot of time.

I love to piece quilts out of my fabric scraps. You have a lot of wonderful ideas for them also. I save my loose threads to put out on the driveway for the birds to use as nesting material in the spring. I save the pieces that are too tiny (to make anything out of) are saved to be used as filling in future projects; however, some people save them to fill old pillow cases to make dog beds for the rescue center.

@louisemaedesignsburgess2486
I haven't made too many clothing items for myself, but I have sewed many doll clothes. That's actually how I started learning about clothing construction...and I used a lot of scraps. When my daughters grew out of some of their favorite clothing, they asked me to make their old clothes doll size for their dolls to wear. It was fun when my girls were little, but they have grown out of playing with dolls. I haven't, though, so I continue to make doll clothes and purchased myself my own doll. I'm excited to make more clothes for myself, though, at some point. If your daughter likes dolls, she might love for her doll to have some clothes that match hers. In my opinion, the doll stage doesn't last long enough.

Such good ideas. I have a few bags of scraps. One cotton one that I had, I made dog scarfs and this fleece and faux leather I made dog shoes, so their feet won't get cut going over sharp pieces of ice outside, and it helps them to keep a bit warmer when it is very cold outside. That's painful even for a dog. I don't think a cat would be very happy at all having to wear shoes.

@ThoughtfulCreativity
@ThoughtfulCreativity Год назад
Charlotte, hello there - you can... but with knits you don't need to cut on the bias. Wovens are cut on the bias as it has the most give in the fabric and is the best to go around the curves like necklines and armhole. With knits you don't have to do that, but also you might find it a lot harder to work with tiny pieces of knit that with woven fabric.
