Hey thanks for the feedback! Good points. I didnt include the Aermacchi MB-339 since IndiaFoxEcho is working on the paid version. Last time I tried to get the MB-339 I got some script errors and I had to go inside the .lua file to fix. I thought they dropped support for the free version. Will have to take a look at the T-45 and Pucara mods thanks

Yeah those are great choices to look into. THe C-130 is being turned into a paid module but the mod still works fine. And the Black Hawk is super sweet too. Both can be played on Grey Wolf server (and maybe others) if thats your thing too

@@Sandboxcode I like story, PvP, PvPvE, immersion hardcore, role playing, handcrafted missions played within a reasearched context explained in a few lines... Simulation alone, solo, only to learn or yea, sure SP campaign... Turned into payed module, wow. Wondering if DCS will allow c 130 to become a tool to transport troops or APC ... I wish DCS could connect to Arma or another experience...

I have it installed here: DCS\Saved Games\Mods\Aircraft\UH-60L. But havent tested with latest DCS version. Havent heard that it stopped working though

Yes, they should work with the Steam open beta version. Some might require FC3 module if you're trying to use the Air-to-Air version (like the Gripen). Make sure to use the A/G version of the mods if you do not own the FC3 (Flaming CliffS) module

Do you have the su-33? That mod requires either SU-33, SuperCarrier (which includes SU-33), or FC3 (which includes SU-33). Now- if you dont have those installed then you can only use the SU-30 A/G variant

I suspect its a mod like the M-339 which will not work unless you manually fix the lua script. Try applying the mod one-by-one? Anyway you can upload your dcs.log file someplace I will take a look!

Its been a month, did You get the brakes figured out ?

I'm also struggling with the proper mapping for left and right brakes. I wanted to use the thrustmaster t16000 see-saw for that but it does not want to map it.

Hey there. Did you download v0.4 .zip file? Should work if you just took the AH-6J folder and drop it in your DCS/Saved Games/Mods/Aircraft folder. I suspect you have some other module whose 14d trial has expired (but you still have it installed)

@@Sandboxcode Hey! Maybe my directory is wrong?? I have it as D:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Mods\aircraft. I do have an F-16C and Uh-1H trial up and going (just did it last night), could those be it?? Should I try disabling those and then reinstalling??

@@Sandboxcode Oh, hi there! No worries, I already figured it out. I had to put it into the DCS directory that is under C:/ (something something)/SavedGames and not the one under E:/SteamLibrary.

You using the A/G version? The A/A version requires FC3 module

For those two mods- you need to use the A/G versions (Air-to-Ground). If you dont then yes you will want FC3

If I made a tutorial it would be longer then this one I think since I'd also want to show how to use OvGme. But for like 90% of the mods you're fine doing it manually

You tried the Air-to-Ground version? If you dont own FC3 module, you can only fly the A/G version

@@DcsMaster Yeah then you can only hop into the cockpit of the A/G version. The Air-to-air version requires FC3.

@@Rockethead293 thanks man! I might get a couple. As long as its my first purchase it's all 50%. The Atlantic with the hornet, f15 and I've always had a thing for the f16. I live close to a base and they used to use the f16s. There is nothing like seeing a bunch of them fired up at the same time taking off. That and I grew up on helicopter Sims. I remember getting the AH64 sim on my commodore. It came with a cutout that for over the keyboard. Almost every key was used. It took me almost a week to complete my first training mission. I was unstoppable even against fast movers in side 2 months. As long as I had hills near by that is. There was another one from the same company called F15 strike Eagle. Same type of cardboard cutout... that wasn't as gun as AH64 Appache. Was still cool. I didn't do to bad for a 9 year old. I still know how to fly in DCS. It's turning everything on and taking off in the old plane that throws me for a loop. That and landing the Russian jet. So many keys to learn... 🙁

nope, not the air-to-air versions. Those will require Su-27 or Su-33 or F-15C from FC3 for the A/A radar

That's a really good question. My impression was the mod maker felt like they could take it to the next level now that they're an official 3rd party.

@@donk5058 there's also an option of running your own server and inviting other people to okay your mission. If all of your have the mods needed, it should also work. It's just the same problem as with running any server: you need a bit of bandwidth, etc. Some mods need FC3 or some particular airplane from it, like F15C. Some don't. Mod notes/readme will have that info, usually. ;)

I agree which is why I was trying to say I've seen people think it can only carry cargo in DCS. But it is definitely possible to equip weapons on it. Sadly, a lot of players dont realize this can be done with the Hercules mod since the "C-130 AI unit" cannot be equipped with weapons. Does this make sense?

More importantly, it's doesn't have jet engines, so is not a jet aircraft.

The C-130 does indeed have jet engines.... Turbo prop engines are jet engines with a propeller. Thats why the engines are so small looking. I used to refuel them and F18c, Harrier, CH46 and CH53 helos. Im a Former Marine.

Some do some don’t. You’ll need to check mod-by-mod. I believe it’s because many mods are based on existing code in official modules. In some cases, they will be based on, say, the SU25T. As that is included in the base sim you don’t need to have anything else. There are mods based completely on their own work as well. I stand to be corrected but these seem to be some of the more complete mods like the A4, the Hercules and the Bronco.

@@amisimon Yeah, the whole DCS experience is very user-unfriendly, at least all the admin-y stuff. I was finding it very frustrating but I’ve sorta learned how to cope because once I’m up in the virtual air, I absolutely love the flying experience. I find learning the planes is a steep learning curve but that’s why I run DCS and I find it extremely rewarding when it starts to click. The admin stuff? Not a huge fan, let’s say.

Yeah wish it was easier. I think they also provide download links in the discord. Funny part of this is that mod actually requires SU-27. I accidently added it to this list (wanted to cover 100% free mods people can play in DCS free of charge)
